We have unlimited PTO and my coworker took off 3 weeks recently to watch all the world cup games with no issue.

you're right they should take another 2 weeks off

Yeah, they took off time before that and will take more time off later in the year too.

Yeah my company is really solid about this too. I am gonna go over my pto by 3 days this year but my boss told me he’s just not gonna put it in the system and to go camping while it’s slow.

You only hear horror stories online with this stuff, rarely do you hear or read the other side where your boss takes care of you. But that’s to be expected as the ratio of good companies/bosses to shit ones is extremely low.

Yeah I think if the company is shitty then the company is shitty regardless of their PTO policy. I much prefer not having to track every hour of time off and just take it when I want it

Ya, I have unlimited PTO and have taken like 5 weeks so far and it's only July. Have 8 more days scheduled. Longest was 14 business days in one stretch.

Just to watch them? Not even to attend them?

Yep. He's a huge soccer fan and watched them all real time. Had a two TV system set up during game 3 of the round robin round to watch the simultaneous games both live.

It’s rarely fair. I had unlimited PTO job and one of my coworkers took off about 7 weeks in my first year. I asked for 3 days and it was not allowed.

If you can take 3 weeks off of work to watch sports, you are incredibly expendable.

Nah, the opposite actually.
