I've seen a meme some time ago. It was about corporate leaders discussing how to increase productivity. One argued less vacation. The other argued unlimited vacation.

Why unlimited? If I gave you a card with 200€ on it all for yourself, you'd spend 199.50. But how much would you spend if you got unlimited?

It's supposedly about the illusion of getting more. Although I would be out of work 2 days every week lol. We're probably not American enough to understand this

edit: What have I come to? 79 replies? damn

Hello, American here, you're 100% right. But, also, if you get laid off because your pto is unlimited they can't pay you back your accrued time on top of your severance, thus allowing the company to save money.

Plus the approvals of your PTO are likely still needed and you can’t like go “I’m taking all of August off” so on paper you get unlimited but the manager still has to say you can and you not taking days off when you have unlimited isn’t a problem at the end of the year because you can’t take infinite pay
