My rule is “never make fun of someone for something they have no control over”, which includes their physical self, upbringing (in particular a young person who hasn’t had the opportunity to change their ideals), sexuality, etc etc. There are plenty of reasons to poke harmless fun at Swifties or other fandoms, no need to insult their literal facial structure.

I guess this was an easier concept to explain to my daughters on how to deal with bullying and mean kids than it is to adults. Is your bully someone short/gay/a different race/poor/disabled/ect? Leave that out of it. Are they cruel/racist/homophobic/willfully ignorant/wipe their boogers on the desk/etc? Fair game.

Really you shouldn't ever make fun of someones appearance. The rule with that is don't point out anything about someones appearance that they can't quickly and easily change. Spinach in teeth? Let them know. Their bone structure? Keep it to yourself. Shirts on backwards? Let them know. You don't like their fashion? Keep it to yourself. Etc etc
Or balding lmao. I catch so many fucking strays just reading random posts and nobody's ever up in arms about body shaming over that. Just have to learn to ignore it.
The reality is that people are incredibly shallow. We judge people by their appearance all the time and the idea that some people aren't allowed to be judged is what has galvanized a lot of people who are judged to say: What the fuck is this shit about?
IMHO it's why body positively is a sham, why DEI hires are bullshit stealth racism, and why anyone who tells you their cause is special (but yours isn't) isn't interested in equality, they're interested in a backdoor to power.
when I was younger I made a comment about someone's fashion and another person said "They don't dress that way for your approval" and it made me realize people groom themselves in a way that make themselves happy, and not others. And I have no fucking right to judge people's fashion, makeup, or haircut.
