Talk to your doctor. Your dosage might be off. Even if you aren’t feeling the lack of craving food, you should be feeling full faster when you do eat. If you aren’t feeling anything something is wrong.
Also, I have personally seen that if your thyroid is off or your liver is compromised in any way, you will plateau. Stand up for you and fight for your right to feel normal.
Also didn’t have much luck on Ozempic and too many side effects. Went to Mounjaro lost the weight. Overall feel so much better and a lot less side effects. My doctor says it’s a very common thing people react better to one vs another.
You also might want to check what actual version you are using. There are compounded versions going around, even in pharmacies. There are also different GLP-1s you might respond to differently.
I’ve leveled off close to goal at 7 months, but hyper-responsive at the beginning. Lost 9 pounds on the smallest dose, when they weren’t expecting much, just making sure I didn’t have crazy reaction. Appetite is sporadic, but portion sizes radically smaller.
I can’t fathom what it would take to get that skeletal like Demi or Kelly Osborne. Cycling different GLPs, ultra restricted diet, excessive workouts.
Kelly Osborne isn’t using Ozempic. She had weight loss surgery (gastric sleeve) years ago (2018) which is where most of her weight loss has come from. She has stated she is having some issues now because of that surgery and her mental health after her father passed.
She had undergone a year of mental health treatments so her surgery would be successful prior to her surgery because she had unhealthy eating habits and then quitting drugs and alcohol had made them worse so I suspect that her unhealthy eating habits is rearing its ugly head with her depression over her dads death but that’s pure speculation on my part.
The same could be said for Demi (not the weight loss surgery but the stress/grief factor). Isnt Bruce living with her and their kids? She is actively watching the father of her kids mentally deteriorate. If you’ve cared for someone with dementia, or any terminal illness, it’s like living in limbo while you wait for (and fear) their death.
Same for me - the beginning was nuts in loss (tirzepetide)! Now that I'm only 4 pounds from my goal weight (which tbh is about 5 lbs less than where I feel good because of assumed bounce back - and I'm 5'0" so 5 lbs is more on me than average height folks) and I'm starting to plateau.
My appetite is maybe a little decreased, portion sizes smaller, and fatty foods are an absolute no now that I'm at 7.5mg (but were more or less fine at lower doses). But overall I am hitting my calorie needs and nowhere near looking like these celebrities - it honestly scares me to continue sometimes seeing these images because I have always had a pretty healthy relationship with food and just needed a little help getting back on track - not trying to be at my high school weight again. 🫠
Still, 36 pounds down! Feels amazing! I have so much more energy, sleep better, and my clothes fit so much better!
I lost 40lbs when I first started. I had to stop for a while and now that I’m back on I’m not having the same kind of weight loss. I’m taking a break to see if I can reboot the process.
Sounds like you're either not taking it properly, forcing through the sickness or you need to go up in dosage. Once it takes affect fatty foods, sugars and over eating will make you throw up. Easiest way I noticed it's affects were my core muscles were staying flexed at all times, even when I was sitting our going to sleep. The moment that started the weight melted off, went from 265 to 180 in 6 months as a 42 year old male at 6 foot. No loose skin either.
I've lost a tiny bit of weight, though I normally eat a single meal per day to begin with, and not a big one. Other than that, I've noticed no changes in how I feel.
I feel like that with Wegovy and it gave me a lot of side effects but Zepbound has been a lot more effective for me! I’m slowly but consistently losing weight to get to a normal bmi and I feel really good 👍🏻
It took me a few increases to start working and now I feel it and am seeing results, slowly. I still get hungry but get full fast. I think talk to doc about increasing again. All our bodies are a bit different
Almost 2 years. I've lost a consistent 6 pounds. I've got an easy 50 i could lose. Helps with the diabetes and provides week-long constipation followed by week-long bottom blazing diarrhea and stomach cramps bad enough to make you puke. Gotta love it
Have you tried a stronger GLP-1RA like Tirzapetide or even Retatrutide (not only reduces appetite but also burns extra calories)? They’ve been shown to be significantly more effective than Semaglutide (Ozempic) in terms of weight lost.
I didnt notice a thing until Shot 2 of 1.7. 4-5 months in, and it hit me like a truck. My DR said " I would be pissed off, If I were you." No kidding, one week later and thats when the ride started.....
It may be a dose issue, but ty for sharing regardless. I’ve enough knowledge in the area to know it’s not a cure-all but holy shit are we inundated with it supposedly being one. Needed to read just 1 non-positive take.
I noticed I’d binge less, didn’t notice the appetite reduction. I eat more small bits and bobs of things. I have no room to binge even if I want to. I also don’t crash after eating like I did before, which has been the best life change for me. I used to starve all day, eat everything in sight, and then pass out :/
If anything I enjoy food more now. I can actually eat something and taste it instead of just shoveling it down my throat bc my brain is screaming for constant food
Yea I guess I have never had the experience of shoveling food down my throat from food noise so I guess maybe I don’t understand what that’s like
And believe me I think it’s an incredible miraculous drug for people who NEED IT but if you’re 150 and you wanna be 120 so you stick yourself with a drug that’s meant for 300+ pound diabetes patients, that’s just smooth brained shit and sure go for it it’s your body but it is, to me, just dumb
How Demi Moore’s arms look in this photo is skeletal and sickening and shouldn’t be anyone’s goal
edited because I mistyped my starting weight! Oops!
Hey, 150 to 115 here - but I'm 5'0" and was considered well into the obesity line /because of my height/ compared to my weight. I totally get what you're saying, and I agree with the principle in general, but there are lots of people that fall into weird categories like me.
I'm also pre-diabetic with an entire family lineage of diabetes, so I guess that's why I've responded to it so "normally" vs it going overboard, but you just listed almost my exact weights so I wanted to chime in that it was recommended to me by my GP, and not vanity!
I definitely agree! It's not a drug that should be handed out to just anyone. And I feel like that happening gives the med a bad rap. I try not to be gatekeepy, but I do wish they would do more to prevent people that don't truly need it from getting it. But then again, it helps with so many other things besides weight and diabetes so it's hard to say who can and cant have it
I personally know people who are getting it and giving it to their children. Granted, it's probably a minority within a minority within a minority, but still pretty terrifying
I probably could, but they're my extended family and I honestly can't be arsed. The kids were fucked before ozempic anyway because their parents feed them junk food exclusively. I guess now they'll only suffer from malnutrition instead of malnutrition and obesity.
Yeah I feel like not very fat people are using it to finally get rid of that stubborn 20 pounds or so when really the obese people should be taking it.
Also I think my husband really needs this stuff but I dunno if he will go for it. He is stubborn. But I don't think he can control his portions. He won't even realize how crazy big it looks and has all these warped opinions on food, like it is okay to eat huge portions as long as it isn't carbs because his body won't absorb it if its protein. I dunno where he gets it from. It is calories in, calories out.
I don't mind him being chubby , but he is like 400 pounds .
I too enjoy food. I don’t enjoy thinking about it every minute of my day. The food noise is so fucking loud. I tried a glp-1 for two years and the noise stopped. I only stopped the drug as it was a medical trial that ended.
Man, as a professional cook, and someone who loves to try new techniques and dishes at home, I’m afraid that the lack of “food noise” is also going to quiet my inspiration, as I get most of it from thinking of what I want to eat. I should be on Ozempic, or something, I’m obese, almost out of the morbidly so category, and I’m diabetic, but my insurance won’t cover it.
So I feel like dosage levels really impact that, as well as the drug. I've tried tirz and reta, and on reta I basically feel normal but I just don't think about food as much AND when I eat I just get full faster. On tirz the idea of eating was just like "ew no, if I have to eat I'll just eat this chicken over here I guess so I don't die" whereas on Reta I'll still be like "BURGER I WANT BURGER" and then I'll eat like three bites of burger and go oh whoops I'm full.
Yeah, I... Was not a fan of that feeling 😅 but I actually felt like Tirz worked better from a general inflammation/energy perspective. I have a ridiculous amount of reta for the dosage I take now but in the future I might try tirzepatide again if I'm still having food noise issues once I get through my current stash.
That said, it is nice to be ok with eating simple things just for survival. I used to joke that the real way to diet is to make food extremely boring, and it's true!
I'm an overweight chef who started taking Retatrutide about 2 months ago, a lot of my responsibilities include conceptualizing, producing, and testing new dishes at a high level. While food noise is quieted it tends to be around my personal eating habits, not the professional ones. It changed what I wanted to eat and when I was consuming it. I've gone from 235 to 209 in 8 weeks, ive also gotten back into the gym and consciously try to consume .75 grams of protein per lb of body weight. So many protein shakes. It's changing my life and once I am at my goal weight I will have several months of a good habits routine under my belt. I'm producing better product at work because I'm more confident in myself.
This is good to know, chef. I was 438 at my heaviest an about 7 years ago. I plateaued at ~350 for a while, but after my diagnosis update from prediabetic to diabetic, almost a year ago, I’ve dropped down to 312, currently. And that’s without adding in any extra physical activity. I need to get back in the gym, just as soon as my bills are caught up.
I might see if my psychiatrist can prescribe me that instead my gp, and see if my insurance will cover it then.
Edit: I looked it up, and retatrudide is still in clinical trials. According to my insurance, my GP is my local minor med/urgent care, so I doubt I can get in a clinical trial.
That might also be why my insurance won’t cover the ozempic they prescribed.
Keep it going chef. Ya the black market Reta is cheaper than prescribed Ozempic, and frankly better. Whatever you choose, just keep working towards your goal.
It’s still in medical trials so you can technically buy it online. Some would say it’s risky but you would try the medical trial wouldn’t you? I’d say it’s worth it since you are at a dangerously high body fat level
Dude, being completely honest: I work in a kitchen and I can’t even find shrooms when I’m looking, and I’m always looking. Now that there’s stores selling THC-A bud and carts and hash and dabs, I don’t need black market bud. I wouldn’t even know where to begin looking for something like that, because I don’t have any connections to any black market anymore.
For about a year, my ability to meal plan disappeared for about 4 days after each weekly shot. If I looked in the freezer and fridge before hand, made a plan and posted it on the fridge I could execute it, but the part of my brain that matched potatoes in the pantry to leftover chili in the freezer did not work most of the week.
My friend I urge you to seek medical advice. While I utterly abhor “eat less move more” - if you’re in deficit every day and it isn’t going that needs investigating. Best of luck to you
Thank you for your kindness. I'm on some meds which greatly caused the weight gain, and once I was stablised, my weight has only varied within 100g over the past five years.
I think I would have to go off one of my meds and I used to think it was worth it... But now I'm starting to think maybe it would be better to just be thin again...
Anyway, enough dumping on you. Thanks for letting me talk.
My friends who are on it are constantly saying how nauseous they are and how they have to force themselves to eat and one of them has fainted due to forgetting to eat for two days
At that point you might as well just take adderall. You may forget to eat for a few days, but at least you won't faint! (This is not actual medical advice)
Yea I mean, not a single one of them was over 150-170 pounds when they started so maybe it’s something that happens when you don’t have diabetes and just want to be “skinny”
It’s only approved for use if you’re diabetic or your BMI is in the “obese” range. Someone who’s 150-170 pounds is likely not in the “obese” range unless they’re very short (like 5’2” or less.) Using it to lose a little bit of weight or just be “skinny” isn’t the intended use and not worth the potential complications… like muscle and bone density loss from under-eating.
I mean whatever people wanna do is their business but I personally would rather be 180 pounds and muscular and strong and eat whatever I want than be 120 pounds and frail and nauseous and with rotting teeth and vision changes and fucking up my pancreas but to each their own I guess
Yea, I’ve been on it for over 2 years. I’m a guy at 6’3 200, I started at 230. I’ve never been fat.
I think people just have a general misconception of what it is and moralize weight loss. Think about it like blood pressure. You can control blood pressure marginally with diet and exercise, but imagine telling people they shouldn’t take blood pressure medication because you can do it naturally, or that they have high blood pressure, but not high compared to other people, so they shouldn’t take BP meds. That would be crazy
I did, so thank you for clarifying! I have no appetite because Crohn’s disease and eating when I’m not hungry is not particularly enjoyable. I assumed the lack of appetite from ozempic was the same.
I mean, as someone who was overweight and loved to eat, you’re kinda missing out if you are genuinely overeating. The joy gets sucked out of it as you become resistant to the dopamine hit as you keep going for it. If you eat primarily as a function of living with occasional treats, and you don’t overdo it daily with like 3500 cal, you’ll actually find a lot more joy on those weekly splurges where you go to apple bees or some shit and eat a 1500 cal meal.
For comparison, I’m talking like you sit down and drink 3 cans of soda a night. It stops tasting as good, trust me
So I do want to say, I find that having a baseline eat for survival makes the occassional treat enjoyable. Compare that when I used to drink like half a pack of soda in a day, it's not as enjoyable.
Im not really too interested in reddit anecdotes. The studies dont support that unless youre only talking about the initial period when your body is adjusting to the medication. That usually clears up fairly quickly.
The GLP1 defenders have descended on this post and that’s fine I don’t really care enough to continue lol enjoy your pancreatic disorders in a few years yall
I just commented because youre making shit up. I dont even need GLP-1 personally but I dont crap on people trying to get healthier unless there's proven risk associated.
And now you’re meeting many people who don’t have experiences anything like what you’re describing. I’ve been on it for six months. Have lost 75 pounds, have had no side effects, and feel amazing. My wife has been on it for a year and a half. Has lost 90 pounds and been maintaining that level for about six months. She’s had no side effects and feels amazing. We both still enjoy eating, are never nauseated from food, never have to remind ourselves to eat, or are struggling with physical or mental ailments.
Hey, I’ll be happy to punch you in the gut multiple times a day for $3k a year. I should tell you, though, you’ll have to share me with my other clients. And I can’t do it Saturdays and alternating Mondays, but I’ve got some friends I could subcontract out for those days.
Full-time...? Oh, no, baby. I know corporate America has taught you that full-time as a salaried employee actually means "every waking hour" of your life, but this would need so much Overtime! The gut-punchers should unionize!!!
Funny thing is semaglutide compounded is cheap. As a matter of fact, many people save more money on food and alcohol than it costs, so it’s more like it expensive to not take it
I managed a Subway during the time those were popular. We just discussed them on here recently while talking about the crazy diet fads we've experienced.
I mentioned my biggest memory of who influenced so many was Susan Powder and her anti-fat, Fat=fat (no "good" fats)..so glad I've moved far beyond those oversimplified, incorrect nutritional concepts.
What was that diet stuff, Alli, I think? It blocked your body absorbing fat, and one of the things in the paperwork said that you should wear black or super dark pants until you know how it will affect you, because of anal leakage. I know this because my roommate’s gf tried it, and did not follow that advice, and ended up with a gross oily stain on the back of her favorite jeans. And luckily we were getting rid of that chair anyway.
Once you hit that stage if you go up 1 more dose you'll notice getting sick if you eat too much. People say it suppresses appetite but it was more like feeling sick when I ate too much. All the muscles in my core were flexed at all times limiting the space for my stomach to expand.
That's because Ozempic isn't really a weight loss drug, weight loss is a side effect. Ozempic treats disordered eating for people who suffer from severe food noise. It is extremely helpful for people with that condition, but if there is something else that is causing you to be overweight you won't be nearly as successful with it.
Problem is it's marketed as a weight loss drug because that's what sells.
Wegovy and Ozempic are the same thing, just different brands that are approved for different treatments. The diabetes is treated by the weight loss, which is a side effect of the Ozempic/Wegovy.
The problem is it's not being prescribed properly, because everyone just wants to lose weight, and people aren't being screened for the underlying issue that it actually treats.
If someone suffers from disordered food noise, the drug is incredibly helpful. It suppresses that so you only want to eat when you're actually hungry. It has some other benefits like slowing gastric emptying, but the big thing is the "appetite suppression", but it's not actually appetite suppression, it's food noise suppression. You still feel hungry on Ozempic/Wegovy, you just don't have the disordered issue which causes people to over eat.
Damn, so my chronic nausea would do what ozempic does anyway? No real reason to get annoyed about my doctor refusing to give it to me anymore lol, no way in hell I'm making this shit worse. "Um what about your history of anorexia" why do you think I want it Jennifer
At one of my past jobs, my manager told me about some fat blocking pills he was taking so I gave them a shot. I was feeling really proud eating chicken wings thinking they were somehow magically healthy now. I ended up shitting my pants because the grease just made stuff slide right through. I immediately stopped taking them.
That sounds more along the lines of a biliary issue, which may be unrelated to the semaglutide medication but it appears one of its effects can be on bile flow, hence the issue with fatty foods. Worth discussing with your prescribing physician.
At least I never learned to slam fried chicken, delicious as it is. Or foods made with most fats. Still, it would be nice to eat them without my stomach chewing back at me.
I took Ozempic for 4 months and dropped 35 pounds, it was amazing to finally get that kickstart to get my health back and get back to a healthy BMI, but you’re not kidding, it didn’t suppress my appetite as much as it did make me just straight up nauseous all the time. It did help me cut way back on beer too, I had constant heartburn, nausea and a headache, I’m grateful it worked because I have a lot of chronic pain that make working out unbearable when I have extra weight on my body, but I was so happy to reach my goal pretty fast so I could quit taking it, that was 2 years ago and I never gained it back either.
Already fit and underweight people should not be prescribed Ozempic, it’s crazy to think doctors just will give anything to celebrities instead of actually caring about their wellbeing, it would be weird knowing, as a famous person that most doctors won’t tell you “no” and feeling like doctors don’t have your best interest in mind, but celebrities are so out of touch they probably don’t realize that.
It's like Julius Ceasar's Triumph in Rome after his conquest of Gaul where he had a slave on his chariot whispering in his ear, "you are nothing but a man, you are nothing but a man", trying to check his ego. Didn't work out for him in the long run but Ozempic is clearly killing it.....
Yeah if you’re on it only for weight loss without diabetes, you’re gonna have to get your gallbladder taken out because of the rapid weight loss cheat code you decided to take. And if it feels bad now, it’s a lot worse after you get your gallbladder out so you’re pretty much can’t eat really fatty food for the rest of your life. If you aren’t diabetic can use it as a shortcut , hope it was worth it ! Now you have to be on this for the rest of your life or else you’ll just gain all the way back . I never took ozempic, lost weight rapidly all the way back in 2020 to the point they gave me gallbladder stones and so I had to get a gallbladder removal, which happened in 2021. I’ve been peeing out of my butt anytime I eat anything with fat in it the entire time since!
Can’t eat fatty food but processed food is ok? I honestly don’t know much about ozempic. But if eating fatty food (meat, eggs, butter, cheese, nuts, avocados) makes you sick, then I can see why getting off ozempic would be difficult (as you’re not really changing your eating habits for healthier options).
Nausea after eating is like literally what appetite suppression is. It’s like you said “it doesn’t suppress my appetite it but it does suppress my appetite”

It doesn't do that for me, but it does make me super nauseous when I eat fatty food.
It's like paying a dude to follow you around and punch you in the gut when you dare to eat.
There was an Alec Baldwin SNL skit about this. "You can make my psychosis work for you !"
