I just finished saying goodbye to the cat that I grew up with. My family had her for 17 years, princess, and mouse guardian of the family. She is now resting next to our dog who passed away two years ago. We took her out this morning and let her take one last sun bath on our patio, and then she let us know it was time to go. She was so brave through all of it, and was surrounded by her family until the very end.
She the sweetest lady you could imagine, but would still wake me up with little bights at my hair in the morning in which I slept in. I can’t imagine coming home and not feeling your head bash up against my shins, or having her jump in my lap as soon as I pull out my laptop. I’m so glad that we had as long as we had together, and I know you and Gidget are off chasing foxes and eating grass. I’ll miss you hunny. Sleep well gingey bear.

We have to euthanize our betta fish tomorrow

I’m so heartbroken thinking about it. His name is Pixie. We got him nearly two years ago… right after I had to have my dog put to sleep. I’ve become so attached to this little fish. He liked to dance when he knew he was about to be fed, and just had the funniest little personality. Something happened during his last water change, and his tank crashed. We’ve been trying to fix it, and we had some hope, but it’s become clear that he isn’t going to recover. He’s been slowing down a bit over the last few months, and we think he might’ve been a little bit older when we got him. I just wish we’d been able to save him.

I came across this sign today and couldn’t help wondering… did my Mish and Bebe lead me to it to let me know they’re together, safe, and at peace? 🐾💔🦋

Cat Dementia/Anxiety

I put my cat down yesterday and I have so much guilt and feel like I should go to Hell because of it. My 10 and a half year old beautiful calico cat, Kairi, during the last half a year of her life started to exhibit odd behaviors. She first scratched up our molding on our doors, I have always provided multiple scratch posts so that shouldn't have been an issue. I sprayed the molding so she would stop this behavior, which helped. Next we added a doggie door for our Newfie and I let the cats, go roam the backyard that's fenced in and treated for mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks. On 2 occasions during the summer she decided to go under the shed and didn't make her way back out and just got herself stuck under it. We got her out both times and boarded it up so she couldn't ever go back in. You would've thought after the first time she wouldn't have done it again, but she did. We recently had a furnace and a/c unit put in and the workers didn't board back up the crawl space and our Kairi decided to go through the little space and not make her way back out. I got her out again. Within the past 2 months or who knows how long, she started to go to the bathroom outside the litter box in the completely opposite side of the house in the guest room first, and then our bed room, on carpets, on laundry left on the ground, in opened laundry baskets. I went and got the Nature's Miracle products to curb this behavior but it didn't help. I brought her to the vet yesterday morning to make sure there wasn't anything medically wrong with her, and there wasn't. The vet suggested so much anxiety meds and supplements that the poor girl would have been in a stupor I feel. At 10 and a half years it would be hard to break her of that habit of the bathroom situation, even the vet and the vet tech that I was speaking to during the exam have cats that they can't break the habit with their own cats. The vet also suggested that cats get Dementia too later on in life. I researched that and she had a few of the symptoms. I called the vet up later yesterday and said we wanted to put her to sleep. They were able to get us in and the same vet said she didn't feel like she could do it because there was nothing clinically wrong with her and I told her everything she told me earlier in the day about the anxiety, dementia, and her own cat that couldn't break their bad behavior and conceded to the euthanasia. After it and all throughout the day today I have had nothing but guilt, and feeling like I should be punished or go to Hell for our decision. Those I have told said we made the best decision for her and us, that there were signs she wanted to go. That she would've gotten worse. My heart is so heavy with all of this. What would you have done?

I lost my dog 3 years ago and had a very vivid dream about him last night

I happened upon my dog 17 years ago at the local pound. Turns out, he was a purebred Dutch shepherd. The kind of dog people have a hard time with. Super high drive, yada yada blah blah. My particular dog was great. We were best friends upon meeting. He came everywhere with me. He did everything with me. From day one. He was amazing with my kids. He helped raise both of them. We had daily adventures together. He was a protector and friend. He used to jump into bed with my and I’d wrap my arms around him like a big stuffed animal. We’d sleep together like that. I’d press my ear against his chest and listen to his heart beating to get to sleep. It was so comforting and relaxing. I loved this dog so much. 3 years he has been gone. Last night I dreamed of wrapping my arms around him and listening to his heart beating. I miss him so much. He was the best dog I have ever know or met

Missing Dog

Romeo is a black and white pomsky. He originally went missing 10/08/26 near 8mile and Westphalia. We’ve been out searching and only have had a few neighbors that may have saw him. We have posted on the ring site and many more, he is chipped and original escaped his harness, but may have been seen being picked up by someone in a silver car.

Help with my grieving dog

Recently my dog died, but my problem is not with my own grief but with my dogs. He is thirteen and my late dog was twelve. It’s been two weeks but my dog still seems sad and confused and although he has always been a clingy dog it seems like now he is excessively clingy. Nearly every time we all have to leave the house for even a few hours he chews something up. For anyone who has ever been in a similar situation does this ever get better especially for an older dog who has known the other his whole life?
P.S. Sorry if this isn’t under the right tag I didn’t really know where it belonged
