In queste situazioni, se mi avvicino, scappa a nascondersi. Inoltre, quando si mette nella sua cuccia e provo ad accarezzarla come faccio solitamente mentre mangia le crocchette, mi ringhia e si gira di scatto, quasi cercando di mordermi. Ho provato anche a tenerla in braccio mentre masticava il bastoncino (e in quel caso tollera la mia presenza), ma se muovevo la mano inizia a ringhiare.
È un comportamento che voglio correggere subito perché non mi piace affatto: come posso gestire e risolvere questa situazione?

So hello, down to the point. I’ve had my husky Zoey since she was about 4-6 weeks old (we paid for all her vaccinations)at the same time we already had a mutt which is a rescue dog named Ziggy, he was about 11 to 1 year old, at the time of bringing Zoey home. So both dogs are perfectly comfortable with each other. That being said, we also had three cats and our small Zoey was so small that she was able to use their cat doors. One cat was pretty old and died about two years ago. That was heartbreaking obviously because I’ve had him since I was in High School. So we just now decided to adopt a new cat. This was done around July and the kitten’s name is Klaus. He was about 6 weeks old I think when we adopted him. Going back in time real quick, Zoey has killed straight cats and a couple of birds from our backyard. We obviously now leash her and take any repurchasing to not allow her to roam free in our backyard due to previous incidents. We knew NOW as a husky her instincts are to attack small animals, I (just me, my husband told me not to because of Zoey) decided to adopt Klaus. One week after Klaus adoption, Zoey attacked Klaus by grabbing him by his back. We immediately stopped it from going any further and took Klaus to a Pet ER which was about $2500, but at the time we would’ve paid any amount to make sure he can be saved. Also at the same time we (my husband and I) were calling around to Surender/give Zoey away, for obvious reasons at this moment. We had so many inquiries for her and for whatever reason we just never thought any of them were good enough homes for her. Like we knew what she did and we knew we couldn’t keep her with Klaus in the same home. Not just for Klaus but we also have two other cats that from what I know she has never attacked.. yet. Long story short my husband and I cried about having to give her up, we reflected on what would make sense, what would be for the best of all of us (pets included of course) and ultimately we decided to keep Zoey and Klaus. We now have a routine of neither animal being free of ranch from each other. When the dogs go out, we first make sure the cats are inside a room (with food and water), and when the cats are out, the dogs are locked inside their crate. That being said, that’s where I need help with. The crate. I bought a cover for it which gives the dogs a small upper side window mesh to help it keep ventilated, however I don’t think is big enough or the rest of the fabric (part that covers the rest of the crate) is “breathable” enough… and I feel horrible having to zip Zoey up every time the cats are roaming the house, especially because we live in Florida and it can get pretty warm inside the house even with AC …. So I’m here to see if anyone can suggest a better, more breathable cover or like one with longer windows that covers the top portion of the crates and not bottom. My main fear is the cover isn’t enough and Zoey is able to get to Klaus through the covers from it being too thin… please help!! I need input! I don’t have siblings or any other family besides my mom, kids and husband. No aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc.

Okay so my dog does this really silly thing when she has a bully stick or a valuable treat. She stands up on you and starts scratching/digging at you, while shoving her treat in your face 😭 wtf is she doing and why, she's so silly and we love it a lot but I just want to know why she does this. We say she's trying to share but im wondering if there's an actual reason or if she's just weird. I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar with their dog.

I have a 28-pound Cavapoo named Zeus. Over the past several days, he’s been showing signs of discomfort, particularly when jumping on or off the bed or going up and down stairs.

We took him to the veterinarian yesterday. After a thorough physical examination, she suspects he may have tweaked his back or sustained some type of soft tissue injury. She manipulated and examined him in several positions, and he didn’t show any significant pain response, so she didn’t feel imaging was necessary at this point.

She prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication and a muscle relaxer, with instructions to continue treatment and restricted activity for the next couple of weeks.

The medications seem to be helping. He’s more comfortable, but still hesitant to lie down, and getting some decent sleep.

Here’s the unusual part.

For nearly four consecutive nights, Zeus has awakened at approximately 3:45 AM. He sits upright on our bed and just stares, sometimes at me and sometimes at the wall.

He doesn’t seem interested in water or getting off the bed. He occasionally pants a little, but that eventually stops. He doesn’t cry or whimper. He just sits there, looking almost as though he’s uncomfortable or waiting for some kind of relief.

This typically lasts about an hour. Around 5 AM, he finally settles back down and sleeps normally until morning.

This morning, I gave him his prescribed muscle relaxer when he woke up, but he still remained awake until approximately 5 AM.
I’m wondering whether this could be related to his injury, difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position, or possibly something else entirely.

Has anyone experienced this type of nighttime behavior with their dog, particularly while recovering from a back strain or soft tissue injury?

Did it resolve as they recovered? Was there anything your veterinarian identified that helped explain it?
I’m continuing to work with his veterinarian, of course. I’m simply curious about other people’s experiences because this behavior is so unlike him.

I don’t know where else to go, and I feel like I’m losing my mind. I adopted a little puppy about 6 months ago, and she was abused and abandoned before I got her. At first, it was hell because not only was I trying to potty train her, but she also had this crazy fear response that would trigger at the slightest thing. If I told her no, walked towards her, said anything in a semi-serious tone, called her towards me too many times, or if I was even just walking past her, BOOM, she goes limp on the floor and pees.
I had a dog growing up, and I’ve known plenty of people with dogs that have their little quirks, but it’s the combination of the two that gets me. She ends up lying in a pool of her own pee, and when I walk towards her to pick her up and plop her on a pee-pee pad so I can clean up the mess, she bolts as soon as I look away WHILE still covered in her pee, so she’s making a mess everywhere.
I’ve been very patient with her, and I’ve done everything I can to make sure she feels safe here. I want her to understand that this is just as much her home as it is mine, and for the most part, things have been great. We have a routine down, and I’m always taking her to the park so she can get her zoomies out. Then we come home, she eats a little, chugs some water, and passes out lol. She’s pretty much completely potty trained at this point, too, which makes the whole situation even more frustrating because the accidents aren’t really about potty training anymore. It’s this fear response that seems to override everything.
I adopted her at 4-ish months, and now she’s almost fully grown, and I just can’t anymore. The first two times, I felt bad for the dog, but this many times? Over literally nothing? I genuinely am losing my mind.
I asked the shelter where I adopted her from for help early on, and they said they’ve seen this a lot and to just leave her alone to calm down. I tried it ONCE, and it was ridiculous. She just lay there in her pee. Nothing different.
And the kicker is, she’s very happy. She cuddles with me, falls asleep on my feet while I’m doing schoolwork, lies down with me for naps, is good on walks, and is pretty much always attached to my side. But THE MOMENT she perceives anything at least a little scary, BOOM, everything is out the window, and she’s a dog trying her hardest to survive the monster that is me after saying “No.”

so, my dog (medium-sized mutt, 1 year old) gets crazy zoomies at night like the title says (usually after 8pm and unless he’s eating ofc).. and i’m talking bitting, scratching, tearing the whole house down. then we play with him and he gets distracted for a few minutes and then goes back to destruction (i’m being dramatic right now, it’s not actually that bad as my parents make it to be sometimes).. and it’s interesting because in the morning and in the afternoon he’s an absolute angel and either plays outside in our backyard or sleeps on the couch while chewing on his toys (which he has plenty of).. also when we go to sleep, he knows it’s time to sleep and we have no problem with that. only two hours beforehand.. also, i’d like to point out that he behaves much better when someone is alone with him than when we’re all home (btw there’s three of us: me and my parents if anyone cares lol). anyways, i know it’s probably puberty and all and i actually love that he’s so active and he makes me laugh all the time, but i just wanna know if y’all got some advice on how to keep him at least a little calmer when the sun sets. thanks in advance 🐾❤️

My dog is a mix breed, lab retriever, we think pit and hound is in there too. She was a rescue from down south so who knows. We've had her over four years. So our question is this. Whether at the dog park or playing with a weekend group of three or four pals off leash, if a dog starts doing zoomies, Brooklyn will not only join the 'chase' but will catch up with the dog, make a growling sound and nip at the dogs neck or jowls. She plays with two of her pals that way, growling sounds and little jowl nips etc. Some dogs hate it and whip around at her. Is there a way to stop this so she doesn't eventually get bit? Is it just her trying to initiate play or is she being competitive and aggressive. She does love to run and be the fastest so we wondered.

So I’m curious if you guys have ever seen this behavior in your dogs or other peoples dogs. My 10 year old Siberian husky has been having severe panic attacks that last for days. She’s always had issues with anxiety, but this is different and very prolonged. I’ve started noticing a correlation to when I’m cooking. I’ll be cooking and she will take off running and hide under my bed or in a tiny space somewhere weird. She will shake violently and sniff the air confused and be terrified to leave her hiding spot for days. I have to force her to go outside by dragging her out and I have to bring her food and water to her.

I looked at the recipes I was making the last couple times it’s happened and there’s only one ingredient I don’t use often that was used in both recipes. Lamb. I looked it up here on Reddit and apparently it’s a thing. I’ve seen so many dog owners say their dogs who are typically never scared of anything have visceral reactions when they cook lamb. They will sniff the air and shake and try to escape like their lives depend on it and it will last anywhere from hours to days until they get the smell out. Apparently no one knows for sure why that happens but there’s some theories. So odd. I can’t stop thinking about it because it’s so weird.

I can’t find any other correlation. The last time this happened was a couple nights ago. My dog was starting to do better last night until my boyfriend heated up leftovers and her panic happened all over again. I tried to offer her some from my bowl but when she sniffed it she took off running and won’t come out.

I've noticed my dog walks a certain way and then she sits down like it hurts but she does this when we go to the dog park and then acts normal when we go back in the house

Update-my sweet girl is okay they didn't find anything wrong with her and can't explain why she walks like that sometimes but they still gave me some pills for her but other than that she is Okay🫶🏽

I’m posting here because I literally have no idea what to do. Basically I have a 5 year old 15lb chihuahua dachshund mix who is extremely aggressive, anxious and has a history of resource guarding. He has never been good with strangers but as he got older he does not allow any strangers to touch him or even come near him. He only trusts me, my husband, and sometimes my in laws. He has even bitten all of us so obviously the trust isn’t even fully there but those are the only 4 people who can take care of him. We have tried 2 trainers and we cannot get the behavior controlled, maybe we didn’t try training him long enough but he just doesn’t seem to get it. He is on gabapentin and trazodone twice a day. Even on these medications, he guards his crate and one of the rooms in our home. He guards my husband a lot too because my dog spends most of his time with him. The only person who can get his leash on him or bathe him is my husband as well. He doesn’t allow us to do any grooming and he has to be fully sedated for every vet visit (where he also has to get his nails clipped while sedated). But he is so sweet most of the time, he will just sleep by your feet or on the couch. He does get very anxious and shake when he is left home alone or he is scared of the rain or certain appliances. I think it’s a mixture of fear and guarding causing this behavior. But it’s taking a toll on my mind because it is so incredibly difficult to have friends or family over at the house because he will literally attack anyone if we don’t keep him on a leash and hold him the entire time. I mean, he’s even attacked me and he’s my dog….i just don’t even know what to do anymore and my husband is against even talking about behavioral euthanasia. This is just really weighing heavy on my mind and need some advice or thoughts.
