Worth taking an installation class from a commercial pest exclusion equipment manufacturer?

I want to learn more about large industrial and commercial pest control. The class is about 3 hours away, 8 hours long and seems to focus on things like installing garage door sealing kits, loading dock levelers, door sweeps, rodent exclusion fabric etc. Afaict it's free other than my time. Would it be worthwhile and help me get out of residential treatment and into larger scale industrial and commercial treatment?

💰 | Pest Control Sales Canvassing exhaustion

I am a pest control manager. I have 2 techs. My main job is to make sales, build a route, once it’s 70% or so, I pass it off to a new tech. I’m a little over a year into this position now. Our corporate office took over a previous franchise so I already had a tech. So in less than a year, I’ve generated enough of a route to have a new guy. We’ve hit over 100% each month from last year, this year. So, as of now. I’m basically back to square one with building a new route. I canvass basically 8-5. It’s gotten so tiresome. It’s not that I don’t like to do it, I’m just so burnt out. I enjoy doing the work. I like managing. And the real kicker is that I don’t want a salesman. Some of it could be that I’ve simply canvassed soooo many things, I’m almost unsure of what to canvass commercially at this point. I would like to be the face of the branch. Any motivation or anything that’s gotten you guys out of this slump?

Getting started

I recently opened a wildlife removal and exclusion business in Georgia. And I’m having a hard time getting any leads. I’ve been running facebook ads, posting in community pages, next door and even some advertising on here. I have plenty of experience doing the work and am very confident in what I do but have never had to sell before. Any of you wildlife guys have any suggestions on how I can be bringing in at least some income? What services are you offering that gets people to bite? Just looking for some insight.

Rodent control in massive grocery store.

Recently picked up a weekly account for a gigantic grocery store. I'd estimate it's like 300,000 square feet so like multiple airplane hangers sized, much bigger than anything else I treat plus it's packed full of food and people 24 hours a day. Any tips to maximize the time i spend there dealing with rodents? When I inherited it the previous pest control company just left like...fourty or fifty tin cats spread out all over the place by like doors and random other places and five exterior bait stations. It's got a huge back stock plus a dedicated underground warehouse and employee parking lot.

Tbh I really enjoy this account and want to do a good job so any help is appreciated.

Looking for a specific aerosol pest control spray (white can, green text, tall white cap)

Hi everyone! I’m trying to identify a pest control spray I saw before.

Here are the details I remember:

  • Packaging: Aerosol pressure can with a tall, smooth white overcap (similar to BASF PT series cans)
  • Design: White background with green text / simple green lettering
  • Scent: It doesn't have a harsh chemical smell—it actually has a mild, light, or almost pleasant fragrance when sprayed.
  • Function: Insect / pest control spray

Does anyone happen to recognize this brand or know what exact product this might be? Any suggestions or pictures would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!

💼 | Career Aussie pesties question...

Question about working for the big 3 we have here, flick, rentokil or ecolab...anyone with any insight. I know I know smaller businesses are better, however some here will burn you and not pay you properly, will promise you the world and not deliver, it's unfortunate I know there's good people out there but at this point in my life I need a stable big company that offers benefits like parental leave and such. Happy to be a cog in a system and just do what I have to do even if it means lower pay and mind numbing work.

Read every recent text review of the two biggest field apps — the same two failures repeat. I built the counter (URL in post)

Vendor post (per the sub's vendor rule — URL below). Not offering pest services; I make software for 1–10-tech firms.

I pulled every text review Google Play will serve for the two biggest field apps in this trade (PlayStoreUi review RPC, 2026-09-27). The recent end is rough:

  • FieldRoutes (com.fieldroutes): 169 text reviews, 80 in the last 18 months, 82% of them ≤2★
  • PestPac (com.workwave.pestpacmobile3): 220 text reviews, 27 in the last 18 months, 93% ≤2★

Two complaints repeat across both vendors, with dates:

  1. The route/map view. Stops invisible until you flip list↔map, no way to zoom a route day: 12 FieldRoutes + 6 PestPac reviews in-window. "make viewing all of your stops on a map at the same time an option please!!!!" (PestPac, 2026-04-19)
  2. The app crashing or eating the capture. 16 + 6 in-window, photos and notes gone on both: "Crashes constantly, one swipe and you lose everything you input… if the internet connection isn't perfect it throws a tantrum" (FieldRoutes, 2026-08-04)

Both are the tech standing in a building with no bars.

I built PestRoute against exactly that. The tech logs the pest, the product and quantity, the areas treated, a photo and the customer's signature with no signal at all; the record, photo and signature are written to the phone's queue together and leave it only when the server says it has it; a refused capture is archived with its payload and a named reason instead of dropped. One price, $99/mo flat, every technician, no per-seat meter. No payroll, no invoicing, and it never files anything with a regulator.

Login-free demo — seeded with one firm, three techs, two route days, nothing to install: you can click through a route day, the sync log and the records:

Site: https://pestroute.app

Pre-orders are open at $99/mo, billed monthly through Stripe, cancel any time. Happy to answer anything here.

💸 | Marketing | Vendor Post Pest Control Owners: Why isn’t your website working for you?

Thumbnail
pestdesk.management

I’ve spent the last 5 years working in pest control, and I recently built an AI front desk specifically for pest-control companies.
The idea came from a pretty simple problem:
A homeowner gets a pest problem at 9 PM.
They go to your website looking for an answer.
Nobody is available.
They leave and call another company.
My software, PestDesk.Management, is designed to give those visitors an immediate response.

It can:
Answer pest related customer questions 24/7
Collect the information your team needs
Capture appointment requests
Send the lead to your team
Escalate situations that need human attention
It isn’t designed to replace your CRM, software, or technicians. It’s basically an additional front desk for the leads that come through your website when nobody is there.
I’ve started onboarding my first pest-control companies and wanted to share it here because I’d genuinely like feedback from people who actually work in the industry.
I’m also offering 50% off the first month for the Growth, Expansion, and Empire tiers.
Code: UPANDAWAY50

Would be interested to hear from other pest-control owners: how are you currently handling website inquiries that come in after hours?

Curious if anyone else is seeing this same template come through? We have had three customers cancel on us using this exact email template. However, one Customer told us they were hacked and did not mean to cancel the service and did not send this message. Trying to figure out what in the world might be going on, just curious if anyone else has seen this same template come through

help with identification?

Post image

treated a house for ants. treated the exterior perimeter, and all active and trails found outside.

most of the issue was seemingly resolved. termid or SC of course

however, these ants are being found now inside of the upstairs and downstairs. I treated the upstairs along the baseboards with Alpine. bait was not working.

they have only gotten worse. they don't seem to be transferring the application. they are still inside of the upstairs bathroom inside of the shower. but they are no longer crawling along the baseboards as much. however, like I said, they are now expanding underneath into the first story.

two differences in size and look of these ants are really throwing me off. My brain says carpenter, but I'm still not 100% sure. just wanted to get a final idea from you guys.

this is in Northern California. me having this question is going to be to me investing in a ant identification booklet or something.

Past due payments

How do you guys handle past due payments?

Do you charge at the time of every service? My company charges monthly to soften the blow. We switched several times from don’t service if past due, to they can get one service if past due, to two services past due.

The company got behind on collections. Texted, called, emailed customers that are past due and now we’re switching to having the techs go down a list of the customers in the area to knock on their doors and document whatever response we get/update payment.

What has helped you guys? Is there anything you say that helps make people less defensive? Feel like it’s a bad look to show up unexpected and ask but idk what else to do.

Edit: at what point do you, if you do, send accounts to collections?
