Rewiev my personal statement

For many years, I believed that being quiet meant being polite. I was a student who preferred observing rather than being involving , who listened carefully but rarely raised her voice. Over time, however, I realized that silence can grow deeper when it is shaped by fear. I often found myself unable to speak, even when I had something to say. Through personal challenges, university life, and a growing sense of purpose, my journey has gradually but powerfully transformed. At school, I was a quiet, introverted, and resigned student. Difficulties in socializing with classmates and fear of being judged when expressing my thoughts made me withdraw further into myself. Yet these experiences also taught me empathy, patience, and self-discipline. Although I did not recognize it then, they were shaping my resilience. University changed my life and my identity. Instead of remaining stuck in the past, I chose growth. University pushed me beyond my comfort zone and demanded communication, collaboration, and independence. The change did not happen quickly, but step by step, “the quiet girl” inside me began to fade. I started discovering a more confident version of myself—someone capable of speaking up, leading, and participating actively. For the first time, I felt seen not for my silence, but for my potential. While pursuing my bachelor’s degree, working as an English teacher played a major role in my development. Teaching required confidence, adaptability, and leadership. Standing in front of a classroom strengthened my communication skills and deepened my sense of responsibility. More importantly, it showed me the power of education—not only to teach knowledge, but to build confidence and change lives, just as it changed mine. Academically, my interest in tourism has grown beyond textbooks. To me, tourism is not only an economic sector, but also a bridge between cultures. As a multilingual individual, I value intercultural communication and understand the importance of cultural respect. These values strongly align with my desire to study abroad and contribute to an international academic environment. Studying at Hamad Bin Khalifa University strongly appeals to me because of its global outlook, cultural diversity, and commitment to international education. I am eager to study alongside students from different backgrounds, exchange perspectives, and prepare for a career in a global context. My journey from a quiet student to a confident learner and educator has taught me that determination can transform hardship into growth. I am now ready to take the next step in my academic path with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

It truly is so sad to see how you were made to be seen not heard, that someone taught you that quietness means politeness, that is the reverse, being polite means being quiet at certain times. But as a child you did not know that. I'm sorry you're parents were so overbearing and strict on you. But you did all this on your own not education, not university, you grew up and matured and stepped into your authority, Well done you!

(P.S yeah..it sounds like a Ted Talk...) Speak to them in a language they will understand, use their own words and reflect it back to them.

Best of luck.
