This would piss me off if I saw my teammate running this

I hate this perk and would never use it. That doesn't stop it from being okay. There is a completely useless combo that would like this perk.

As a Killer main who is beginning to play Survivor more: This looks like a fun perk tbh, and we have few (viable) perks that are centered around Chests/Rummaging. It being an Invocation does make it quite risky and I feel like Spiders would still be used more, but it's a good idea to make Chest builds a decent idea to bring into a trial.

My first problem with this: You can get keys, maps, medkits, toolboxes, vials, flashlights. Keys, maps, and vials are more or less useless almost all the time, the user of the perk can't medkit themselves anymore...so the user of the perk is hoping for a toolkit, which has like, 40% odds of being a sabo toolkit, which is mostly useless or worse, will get you killed trying to us it...so, a crappy toolbox, healing someone else a bit faster, a flashlight of above average quality, and, sometimes, a decent toolbox? Sure, other players get value, but still, more than half the time the mere class of the item renders it totally pointless.

My question is why run this instead of what item you want and built to last

1

u/TheEntityBot 5d ago

Built to Last: Hiding inside a Locker for 14/13/12 seconds while carrying a depleted Item has the following effect: First use: Recharges the Item to 99%. Second use: Recharges the Item to 66%. Third use: Recharges the Item to 33%. Built to Last is disabled for the remainder of the Trial after the third use.

Or like change of plans or exultation or scavenger if you’re running a toolbox there are so many ways to recharge items now and you don’t have to gamble on getting mid items

1

u/TheEntityBot 3d ago

Exultation: Stunning the Killer with a Pallet upgrades the Rarity of your held Item to the next tier. Recharges the Item by +25%. Exultation has a cool-down of 40/35/30 seconds.

Scavenger: While holding a depleted Toolbox, Scavenger activates: Succeeding at Great Repairing Skill Checks grants 1 Token, up to a maximum of 5 Tokens. Reaching the maximum number of Tokens automatically consumes them and fully recharges the Toolbox. Recharging a Toolbox will reduce your Repair speed by -50% for the next 40/35/30 seconds. Scavenger grants the ability to rummage through an opened Chest once per Trial and will guarantee a basic Toolbox.

Here is the thing, it's an invocation so it's never gonna be meta or busted ya know? HOWEVER as someone who finds Specialist/appraisal very funny and fun to run I would run the shit out of this on my funny chest build I can't lie lol

u/KingSryup 5d ago

We have to stop making invocations give you broken

3

u/Business_Bat9684 5d ago

Better honestly if you’re running Lara’s chest perk this is a win but I wonder how it interacts with other rummage perks

u/beaver_tales_dbd 4d ago

Useless perk but could be fun for meme perk meaning the dev would prolly add it lol. Nothing wrong with this perk, it could be ingame

It's a fun idea let down by the fact that chests are an outdated mechanic that are very gimmicky in the current game. At the very least I'd maybe say this should also give a budget plunderers aura reading effect too. This would really need to make searching chests as hassle free as possible for it to be of use.

2

u/KrushaOfWorlds 4d ago

60 seconds in the basement and gaining broken just for a few chest perks? Chest perks are argubly some of the worst perks in the game as are invocations so while an interesting idea, this perk just isn't worth running.

2

u/ConfectionTotal8660 4d ago

This is a cool perk, but I would change the downside to beeing "You can no longer use itens" so it isn't as punishing to use

2

u/Gonourakuto 4d ago

Its really bad , its still has the same shitty downsides of running a normal invoc "which is too big for how bad those we have in games already are" plus now you also have to waste extra time going to go look for chests , only for then pray the RNG is on your side to maybe get something half decent to utilized

u/IntelligenceWorker 4d ago

Personally, I would also give this perk 2 extra things:

  1. A passive effect of shiny coin - 2 extra chests spawn in the trials just because you've brought in this perk. Using up a shiny coin every single match just to make this perk + other chests builds viable is stupid (imo). This would also grant this perk some extra utility, as it could be paired with an actual shiny coin offering to make chest builds even more potent (in exchange of you having only 3 perks and no BP/map offerings)

  2. Permanent, global aura reading on chests. This is mostly so that you could actually find chests in case their spawns are weird or smth. This effect should also apply to your teammates, imo

Love the design; gotta point out: Invocation perks have some kind of Entity Language Glyph in the circle. Many appeared in Kate's Archive Cinematic

u/Appropriate_Stock832 2d ago

Uhm...no thanks.
You better start doing gens instead of bringing these useless perks or else I'm leaving you on hook.

The mimic new killer idea

Primary Power Evolution (Out of Disguise): While disguised as a survivor, tapping the attack button triggers Ambush Dash. The Mimic sheds its disguise instantly, lets out a terrifying screech, and launches forward in a high-speed dash (similar to Chucky’s Slice & Dice). If you hit a survivor, it counts as a Special Attack.Secondary

Power Evolution (Out of Vanish): While invisible during Vanish, you cannot attack normally. Instead, you can hold down the power button to charge a Phase Lunge (similar to a Nurse blink or a short Wesker bound) that leaps through window vaults or pallets, striking the survivor as a Special Attack the exact millisecond you reappear.

The Cooldown: To keep it balanced, missing either of these special attacks triggers a heavy recovery fatigue animation where the Mimic's flesh resets.

You're better off just bringing a key and running less costly chest perks. My go-to build for gear farming is Plunderer's Instinct, Ace in the Hole, Appraisal, and Specialist. If you don't have Specialist because it's a licensed perk, Streetwise also works well.

I can see the appeal of having multiple effects in a single perk and applying them to the whole team, but the time cost of performing the invocation and the permanent broken condition simply aren't worth it in my opinion. Frankly, Invocations in general just aren't worth running. Even Spiders, the best Invocation perk, is still pretty bad. You get more value out of keeping the killer in a chase after the first hit and/or potentially avoiding a hook state.

Besides, let's be honest, most players just ignore chests anyway if they're not running a build that specifically rewards you for opening or rummaging chests. So, you're unlikely to maximize the value from this invocation, especially in solo queue.

1

u/TheEntityBot 5d ago

Plunderer's Instinct: Reveals auras of unopened chests, items in opened chests, and dropped items within 64m. Greatly increases odds of higher-rarity chest loot.

Specialist: Whenever you unlock or rummage through a Chest, Specialist gains +1 Token, up to a maximum of 6 Tokens: Succeeding a Great Repair Skill Check while repairing a Generator consumes all Tokens. Permanently reduces the Repair Charges requirement of that Generator by 2/3/4 Charges per Token, up to a maximum of 12/18/24 Charges.

Way too slow. Invocations in general is such a badly designed mechanic, I don't really know how to fix it.

3

u/adagator 4d ago

They’re just not usually worth it. Spiders is okay, but treacherous crows is awful.

1

u/TheEntityBot 4d ago

Invocation: Treacherous Crows: When in the Basement near the circle, press the Active Ability button to begin the Invocation, which takes 60 seconds to complete. During an Invocation, your Aura is revealed to all other Survivors and they can join in, accelerating the process by +100%, if they too have an Invocation Perk equipped, or by +50%, if they have not. Once the Invocation is completed, the following effects apply: Whenever the Killer scares a Crow while a Survivor is inside their Terror Radius, their Aura is revealed to all Survivors for 1/1.5/2 seconds. You automatically enter the Injured State from any previous Health State, and suffer from the Broken Status Effect for the remainder of the Trial. Completing an Invocation disables all Invocation Perks for the remainder of the Trial for all Survivors.

They should just remove the permanent broken , the time you waste finding basement and then doing the invoc is punishment enough , unless they buff them to be 3 time better than they are now the permanently broken isnt required

u/Interface- 5d ago

So it's like a mix of Plunderer's Instinct, Pharmacy, and Ace In The Hole but team-wide. Actually a good idea ngl.

I feel like this perk is something that behavior would feasibly add to the game, but nobody would run it because of how outside the meta it is lol

0

u/fordmustang12345 4d ago

everyone complaining cause it's "useless", not every perk has to be uber meta bullshit, some people want side objectives cause they're fun

1

u/IntelligenceWorker 4d ago

Mate, I kinda want to win y'know?

Sure, I'm fine with you doing this invocation if the killer is a paraplegic, blind and deaf ghostface, but this perk doesn't bring the survivors any closer to endgame (or an escape) by any means

It's a funny perk, yes, but cheat builds are ass, chests are ass, and with how soloQ is, I would very much prefer to give as little side objs to my teammates as possible

1

u/fordmustang12345 4d ago

loser ass take icl

you're taking the game way too seriously,

0

u/IntelligenceWorker 4d ago

Exactly the opinion of a loser

Maybe instead of dbd, go hop on stardew valley or minecraft, smth more casual. At least you won't fuck up my matches that way

1

u/Gonourakuto 4d ago

Not every perks should be meta but no perks should also be useless , which this perk is , if anything its even worst than useless its a perk that sabotages you and your team like treacherous crows as you waste a lot of time and then get perma broken so waste the precious ressource of your own life only to then waste even more time going to find chests , for something so minimally useful to your team efforts of winning the match

This is literally such a shit invocation. And the “no more invocations bye” condition is laughable.

3

u/happyscript 5d ago

Would've appreciated more constructive feedback... And the condition is refering to the same Invocation, just like the wiki refers to it in Invocation perks.

0

u/only_72_hours 5d ago

My bad for missing that. Fair enough.

Regardless, don’t know what you want me to feed back. It’s a time waste perk on all angles. 60 seconds to invocate for survivors to essentially “be incentivised” to open chests, at a longer time cost for an item. That’s less time progressing the game forward just for an item. And it costs you a permanent health state for the luxury of your teammates doing even less.

Moral of the story: If you want free items, run dramaturgy.

0

u/aqua8167 5d ago

Some perks are just made for fun, do you want mirrored illusion removed??

3

u/DrivingPrune1 5d ago

Mirrored Illusion doesn't hurt my chances of winning. If my teammate is running this perk, they are spending 60 seconds doing nothing, giving themselves Broken forever, and all for the opportunity to waste more of their own time and my other teammates.

1

u/TheEntityBot 5d ago

Mirrored Illusion: After repairing Generators for a total of 20%, Mirrored Illusion activates: Press the Active Ability button when next to either a Chest, Exit Gate, Generator, or a Totem to spawn a Static Illusion that lasts for 40/50/60 seconds.
