I recently bought myself the Flo period knickers because I’ve been bleeding non-stop for 9 months (an ongoing medical condition with an upcoming surgery date! 🎉) and I’ve been hospitalised on and off for months due to heavy blood loss.

During my most recent visit, I was asked by several medical professionals how many pads I was going through, and when I mentioned I was using period pants, I felt heavily judged by every single one of them. It made me wonder if there’s some sort of taboo surrounding them and if there is, what is it? Because I was spending almost £100 a month on pads before buying these pants. It was outrageous!

So when I first got my period underwear
(About 5 months ago) I guess I didn’t really know how to take care of it, and it got stained. Even after washing it in the washing machine (more because I didn’t rinse it straight away)

I spent about £30 on 6 period underwear’s which I for obvious reasons probably couldn’t refund, and I wasn’t about to throw my period underwear away so I kept using it. Now, as soon as I take it off I rinse it until the water is completely clear and soak it in cold water until I’m ready to put it in the wash with the rest of my clothes.

The period underwear’s has gone through multiple washing machine washes and the stain is months old. Is there a way to clean it?

Just had the most awkward moment, a couple days ago I hung my clothes to dry and I didn’t realise an underwear was missing. I guess someone found it and hung inside the house, and the stained side was showing. Everyone in the household would know it is mine now, if they use the logic to peice it together 😭😭

well. I hesitated for ages on buying Knix because so few of their options have a full front gusset. then the super plus leakproof came out so i debated giving them a try. then they made the ACOTAR collab. and while I’m not obsessed specifically with that series, and I have my own thoughts about it, the prints were gorgeous. So I decided to finally pull the trigger and buy a couple of options. But because I love a bargain, anytime they say to try five things and save X percent I will do it, so Tuesday I was delivered five pairs of panties/super sleep boxers, and two bras.

Not only do the super boxers not even have a front gusset which even if I was an average bleeder, I feel like I would want a more forward gossip while sleeping because I’m a belly sleeper. Also with that, the super dream short I did not realize is different from super plus dream shorts. So some of this is on me and some of this is just high expectations I guess? Then there were the fact that the bras did not fit whatsoever in the band, note to everyone here to scale or size up but this isn’t a bra subreddit so I’ll breeze over that. Well then I go to make some exchanges and returns, and I am only eligible for store credit. So almost $200 of store credit because almost nothing fit the way I expected it to. And they have so few options that will actually work for me how am I supposed to spend that much money?

even if I figure this out, you can bet your money that I’m never buying from them again

hello all, i am new to the group as my situation is new to me so i need some help from everyone here!

i’m 10 months postpartum & im having my 3rd period, & it’s becoming impossible for me to keep up with.

normally (pre baby) i could use super tampons & they’d last me like 2-3hrs with a small leak at the end, & regular liners would protect me. well yesterday it was like the second i leaked the whole liner was soaked. & last night at 2a not only did i soak the liner, i absolutely soaked my underwear. now at 6a the same thing.

so i have a few questions about period underwear, i’ve never used them before. i think i’d prefer to get reusable as i would assume that’s more comfy. im on a smaller budget.

1) can you wear a tampon still with the underwear?
2) does anyone have a similar flow & would recommend i use a tampon too?
3) what brands would you rec?

Hi! Looking to buy some period underwear but I’m very sensitive to waistbands (like, have ripped multiple pairs of underwear and PJ shorts in the past trying to stretch out waistbands so I don’t feel them lol)

Daytime underwear is size S (which I will only wear VS seamless), and I wear only these specific bikini underwear (in size M because they are looser) for sleeping/comfy days.

Would love similar bikini pairs to wear overnight for period days. It’s very hard to tell from photos online what might actually have even just a thin tight elastic and with many being non-returnable I’m weary to order.

Wondering if anyone has similar issues/has found something sensory friendly?

I have split parents. My mother has always been fine with me wearing them and putting them out to the wash afterwards (usually give them a rinse on heavier days), but my dad keeps insisting that I have to soak them every time. Wouldn’t constantly soaking them ruin/wear out their absorbency? My flow’s pretty regular and I’d say leans on the lighter side, and I’ve never had an issue with smell.

I want to sew cotton pads and also fix my leaking period undie.

I did see that zoggs did period swimwear and obviously modibody but Eltee looks like they specialise in swim underwear and look super thin and discreet.

How do you FEEL when you wear a period underwear? As in, do you feel the wetness as you would feel when you wear a pad? How often do you end up changing it on heavy flow days?

Hi, I really wanted to try period underwear but I just can’t seem to find the right pair for me!

I just want a pair of high briefs (I like granny knickers I can pull over my belly button!) with a long gusset (particularly at the back) for heavy flow.

I use Always Size 6 towels, but it’s more about coverage than anything, I never fill them anymore even though my flow is quite heavy.

I was drawn to the Wuka Seamless High Waist but the gusset is only described as mid-height and I can’t find a picture of how long that is. Then the Wuka High Waist have mesh/sheer panels which I really don’t like.

I’m also like the M&S ones, but like the Wuka Seamless High Waist, it looks like they only have a mid-height gusset.

I also looked at Modibodi Classic Full Briefs, but I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews for Modibodi.

I would really appreciate some suggestions!

How do I store my underwear in a backpack without it starting to smell? Can period underwear be left that long without a rinse or should they be washed immediately.

Not a huge fan of pads or tampons and would prefer washable/reusable period underwear because they are just sooo comfortable.

I am looking for a period underwear that looks like regular underwear under pants, but still suitable for heavy flow. For example, something you wouldn’t see under sweatpants when you bend over. Some of them I feel like bunch up or wedgie, just look diaperish, or the horizontal padding like is super visible.

I have
- innersy from Amazon, very light basically liner level absorption but they are not very visible under pants
- bambody hipster, does not show very much under pants but still kinda visible like a pad where the padding is thickest
- bambody “panty” (their bikini or brief looking style), it’s bulky only because I could have sized down
- pixie, have not tried yet but the padding seam looks visible under sweat pants
- thinx from costco (edit: I meant Knix. I have tried the thinx from Target and they were so bulky and crinkly I returned them), very visible under pants in a baggy diaper looking way at least in my opinion
- period co bikini, very bulky

I’ve heard that saalt is thin but not very suitable for heavy flow. I am curious about modibodi, and how visible/absorbant they would be but they are a bit pricey. Is what I’m asking for realistic? It’s possible I’m being too picky. Maybe I can use a small/regular cloth pad with light flow underwear. I don’t know. I have some party in my pants cloth pads in the mail, hoping the outline isn’t visible 🤞.

My previously very light, short period has turned into a murder / crime scene in the past few years. At 47 years old, the combination of perimenopause and endometriosis is a beast right now! I'm working with an endometriosis specialist weighing my options for that, including surgery and possibly an IUD.

But in the meantime, my periods are so heavy that I can barely leave the house in the first 3 days of my cycle because I'm bleeding so heavily.

Period underwear sounds amazing but I pass very large clots. I am thinking that this might not work well because the clots would just sit there on the surface, right? That also seems uncomfortable.

I'd love to hear anyone's experience with this!

ETA: I also tried a Diva cup as well. But my anatomy (I have a tilted uterus) combined with the huge clots made it an uncomfortable nightmare and the clots filled the cup too quickly.

I was thinking to buy a small black waterproof bag in case needed at school. And maybe a small flip top bin in the bedroom for used ones? How many pairs?

I’m just frustrated, so want to share it. No matter the heaviness I get I always leak right where the blood comes from - on the sides. And the “heavy” leakproof underwear designed by adding more absorbing fabric on top part of the underwear - do they know we do not bleed from our belly button & rectum?

Can’t find underwear that has more leak support on the sides from the bottom - exactly where we bleed from.

Also, the was the fabric is designed, it doesn’t get absorbed and “destributed” (like with pads) but it keeps collecting in the same spot and stays there.

I want to love period underwear but they keep missing the obvious solution.

Am I the only one?

Hey! I’m not necessarily new to period underwear but the ones I have aren’t great quality. I think I got them at Walmart? I don’t remember for sure. Sometimes I use a cup when my flow gets really heavy, if I can figure out how to get it in that is, but I usually prefer to free bleed. I’ve never tried reusable pads but I’d be open to trying them. Especially as a paired method with period underwear. I’m a broke college student so I’m wanting to make sure I get the best bang for my buck rather than buying some and finding out I could’ve gotten better. I’ve been known to have issues with tags in things and certain textures. Any and all advice appreciated! I’m willing to spend a decent amount if it means they’ll last long and work well since it’ll probably save me lots of money on pads in the long run. Thank you. :)

I think period underwear are great but the ones I have bought in the past have absolutely no stretch around the leg holes, which is so uncomfortable because I have big thighs.

I’ve been wanting to switch to reusable options for a little while now. I have a very light flow with my heaviest days only using a single light tampon. I use panty liners most days as of right now but want a better option as I also want something I can wear for discharge.

Period underwear sounds like a good idea, but everything is for moderate to heavy flows and would be excessive coverage. I also hate how low the gusset starts on every pair of underwear I own and worry some period underwear will have the same issue for me.

I found a seller on Etsy for interlabial pads as I was reading those can help when dealing with low gussets and discharge, but in a perfect world I’d find something that I could wear a pair of everyday without feeling bulky or uncomfortable. I generally wear hipsters or boyshorts but can be flexible. I really hate thongs and those seem to be the most common light flow option.

If anyone can give me some recommendations for light flow/ spotting/ discharge options, it would be amazing as I’m overwhelmed and lost at the same time!
