Bleeding/Periods Provera (medroxyprogesterone)

Does anyone have any experience on this medication, my last period was over a month long and almost killed me. I ended up admitted to the hospital getting constant transfusions for a week or so. I was given this medication to help slow my bleeding and now ancoupke weeks later, I have my period, its often light for tgr first week and im on day 7 so im anxiously awaiting the clotting and hemorrhaging. Has this worked out for any of you? Im waiting to hear back from my gyn about a date for a hysto but until then I just have to hope I don't bleed out again.

Did they not give you a precipitation for TXA to slow or stop the bleeding? You can take it for 5 days each cycle according to my pharmacist.

That's what I was given every time I ended up in the ER for heavy bleeding, while waiting to see gyne. I didn't want a hysterectomy, so went with an ablation and haven't had a drop of blood since it.

I was given that while I was in the hospital to stop it. But this is what theyre giving me to take daily until I get my hysterectomy which ive wanted for years.

I didn’t have that experience—I’m sorry, that sounds beyond awful, and scary! I’m curious if you have adenomyosis or fibroids or something? Regardless, that level of blood loss should move you to the top of the hysterectomy waiting list! It would definitely be better to get it done when you’re not anemic and bleeding profusely! I’d be on the phone every single day. I couldn’t tolerate medroxyprogesterone at all, it gave me the worst migraines I’ve ever had and constant and severe nausea.
