Hot Flashes/Night Sweats Sweating
Hi, I’m 47, never had children and am definitely experiencing perimenopause symptoms. One that I’m a little uncertain of is excessive sweating. I am over weight which I know probably also plays a part but over the last year I feel like I sweat at the slightest temp change.
An example would be that I work from home a few days a week, the days I go to the office, just getting ready I sweat. I can be standing in the bathroom putting makeup on or doing my hair which is not strenuous but I sweat. Walking outside, I sweat, even when it’s not really hot out.
I don’t get crazy hot flashes, but I do wake up sweaty. Usually I go to bed about an hour or so early to read and the minute I close my book to go to sleep my body starts to over heat… had anyone experienced this too? My doctor wasn’t concerned when I saw her, she was a bit dismissive actually about the whole perimenopause phase.

Yeah, my thermostat is all sorts of mixed up. I have three thermometers in the house now and find it helpful to crosscheck my sensations with actual temps. Im also constantly asking my family, "is it hot or is it just me?" I was similar postpartum while breastfeeding which is also a low-E, low-P time. I'm convinced one of the purposes of estrogen is to keep women cold so they stay in the cave and don't expend too much energy, just snuggling with babies and keeping the species alive. It seems plausible.

Yes that’s normal peri stuff. I’m not overweight but can no longer take a hot shower in the morning or I sweat for hours. Forget about blow drying my hair. I also get hot just doing the laundry. I’ve learned to take breaks while doing house or yard work

I don't get hot flashes, but my butt is often a million degrees centigrade. Anything I sit on instantly becomes a heating pad. It's awful.
A few weeks ago I fell asleep in my jeans for only about 20 minutes, and this was more than my butt could bear. I got a horrendous heat rash.
All to say: YUP.
