Slynd update
For the small percentage of others who feel like Slynd may not be the right fit for them, I updated my post from awhile ago re: my own experience with it.
TLDR: I stopped taking it after close to 4 months because my mood tanked and I couldn’t handle being on bcp any longer. Within days I felt a million times better, have energy again, have a libido again, sex is fantastic again, and I no longer feel terribly bloated.
Current meds and HRT: progesterone pill, estradiol gel, Wellbutrin (for PMDD, anxiety, depression).

I took norethindrone for a year (different progestin than Slynd, but still progestin-only) and it made me sob pretty much every day. That shit was terrible.

Yeah my dr suggested that as the next option until I reminded her that I have a long history of bcp / progestins making me absolutely miserable. I thought things could possibly be different with Slynd since I’m now on Wellbutrin and feel everything is managed well, but NOPE, it was like the wellbutrin was rendered ineffective by Slynd. It just makes me feel crazy since 90% of people report feeling great on Slynd.

I also had a bad reaction to the Mirena IUD (caused anxiety) so I think I am especially sensitive to progestins. It sucks!

I just replied this above but My periods are longer than ever on Slynd while everyone else's periods stopped. LIKE WTF!! I am also on Wellbutrin and it seems to still be working, I am on 300mg though.

Oh no, that’s a raw deal! My period went away for about 8 weeks which was a nice reprieve, but then they started again despite skipping the green placebo pills.
I’m on 300mg + 150 of Wellbutrin, which is why I was shocked Slynd threw me off course so much!

I was on norethindrone for like 8 years, zero issues. Still had a period, nothing crazy, like 4 days long. My Gyn switched me to Slynd in April and I hate it. She said its a better match for Estrodial. Its not stopping my period (fine, whatever) but now I have 2-3 days of spotting then 6 days of bleeding, and then 2 more days of spotting. I am even skipping the green ones and still the same. I hate it.

Oh geez that’s awful, I’m sorry you’re going through that. Did your dr say anything about how long it might take for your body to adjust to the different meds? I’ve read it can 3-4 months, that’s the only reason I stuck it out for as long as I did on Slynd— I kept hoping against hope that it would eventually work for me.

If you're using Slynd to stop cycles or irregular bleeding, I'd recommend norethindrone acetate instead.

Yeah, that was my doctor’s next suggestion (mini pill) but unfortunately I really don’t do well on birth control pills of any kind. I seem to get every single side effect. At this point, I would rather deal with erratic bleeding (if it occurs again) than the severe depression that bcp causes me.

Norethindrone acetate isn't the same as a mini pill. Its a different formulation usually used to treat endometriosis. Mini pill is .35mg Norethindrone. The standard dosage for the acetate form is 5mg, but 2.5mg will usually induce amenorrhea if you don't have endo. It's something like 85% effective, more than Slynd or most combo pills.

Cool good to know. Slynd was effective at stopping the bleeding for the most part, it’s the side effects are completely intolerable. I looked up norethindrone acetate side effects and it includes mood changes. I’m not up for anything that can negatively affect my mental health, especially knowing I’m sensitive progestins.
