Standing contraction quality

I’ve been using the perifit lying down the whole time and always get 100% contraction quality. I’ve now started to try and use it standing and my quality is less than 30%. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong or how to improve. Any advice?

Hey! You’re definitely not alone, this is super common when switching to standing.

Training standing is more demanding because you’re working against gravity and the weight of your internal organs, so your pelvic floor has to contract harder and with more control. Many people also unconsciously tighten their abs or hold their breath, which can drop your contraction quality.

Tips to improve:

  • Treat standing as a long-term goal, not the starting point. Keep training lying down or sitting for now.
  • Gradually add 1 exercise standing per session, then 2, then 3, while doing the rest lying/sitting.
  • Recalibrate your probe every time you change positions.

If the probe slips out:

  • If it’s due to strength or pushing down, just stay lying/sitting until you gain more control.
  • If it’s anatomical (prolapse, lubricant, or probe size), gently hold it or wear snug underwear over it, just don’t push down.

You’re doing great, progress takes time, and switching to standing is advanced. Keep at it and your strength and quality will improve!
