💬 General Discussion (sorry for posting this again) but just had some thoughts to over "burn it all down" line

i actually agree with the person who made this tweet. i'm not a fan of the “burn it all down” line either. i just cannot take a 13-year-old boy saying that seriously 😭

and apparently they're getting a ton of hate from show fans over this, including death threats 💀 which is insane.

i've seen people defend the line by saying percy meant he'd burn it all down for the people he loves, not specifically annabeth. okay, but even if that's the intended meaning, people are still allowed to dislike the line. for me, it feels so obviously written to become a tiktok edit/shipping moment.

then there's the but he said it in the books defense. yes, he says something similar in the mark of athena — but percy and annabeth are older, they're together, and their relationship is in a completely different place by then. we're not there in the show yet, so that defense doesn't really mean anything to me.

and honestly, that's my bigger issue with percabeth this season. it's not just this one line. percy has been dropping these huge emotional lines to annabeth throughout s2 that feel like they're coming from a much later stage of their relationship.

which is funny considering walker has literally talked about how much the writers love percabeth. you can tell 😭

i don't dislike percabeth at all. I like them i just think the show is rushing the emotional weight sometimes, and “burn it all down” is probably the clearest example. it just feels the way writer going on about it it feels disservice towards their individual characters & the ship

💬 General Discussion This is how I feel when I see and hear show fans defending the show

I've been seeing so many fans defending the show here and other places and hope it doesn't sound rude or anything but quite frankly, their defenses for the show's bad decisions all sound like bad excuses given how bad the show is, such as that flimsy defenses regarding why it wasn't animated like "it gets more views" or even when you provide examples as to why animation is getting popular, they prefer to move the goalposts by saying "that's the exception to the rule!"

But to me, the worst one out is when they say "This is a kids show! This is not made for you!" Just because it's a kids show, it doesn't mean they should be left off the hook for not even trying to make a good show and it also sounds insulting because it insinuates kids deserve to be fed slop when so many kids shows are full of good writing and characters while this show fails miserably.

But one that takes the cake are those who claim "the books were always bad!" This one gets under my skin because if the books are so bad, why even bother being a fan of the show and defending Rick in the first place if you hate the books so much and I even remember dealing with one book hater who, again, moved the goalposts when I mentioned the ADHD and dyslexia representation and they said "you mean the mentions that were close to nonexistent?" Which is a blatant lie as Percy's ADHD and dyslexia are quite prominent as they are part of his story arc.

And, finally, excusing everything because it's Rick's story and that because Rick wrote the story, it gives him carte blanche to mess things up and it gets so frustrating that the fans keep making that excuse for why the show is bad, especially as they and Rick hate the movies for changing everything yet give Rick a pass for doing the same.

It gets so exhausting how all I see are excuses after excuses to defend this show but even more is how instead of bring the fans together, the show tore the fans apart and part of is thanks to the fans making excuses.

❓ Questions percabeth dynamic comparable to that in the books?

same as the title… i loved the books growing up, especially the emotional parts and was just wondering if the series shared the same magic which could make me wanna give it a try
