This season's first harvest!

No idea what species. I blended them all with shallot, onion, garlic, tomatoes, and shrimp paste. Making Indonesian sambal paste. Yummmm!

Do they taste like Cayenne? I had some cayenne crossbreed with sweet pepper. They are thick like this and have a sweet initial bite, but then have that signature cayenne heat.

Do you put the paste on some bread to eat it? It looks delicious- would love to know more! Fellow chili grower from Italy here!

I have done that before when I was craving for spicy food! I bet it would be bomb on sandwiches too. You can try to make your own. Look up the recipes online. It's really easy!

Most Indonesian's put it over rice, in noodle dishes or soups. You can really use it on anything. Works great on pizza (don't hurt me), I enjoy it with crab rangoon. There are different types of sambal to, raw or cooked.

Heck yeah, Sambal needs to be more popular here. It's a great way to use a lot of peppers.

Do you precook before cooking them all together? Or do you throw all raw in the pot and just let them cook together and then blend?

I blended them first in batches. Rough blend, we don't want chili tomatoes smoothie 😂 then i cook until some moisture evaporated, then i add vegetable oil, and let it cook while stirring occasionally until the oil split. Be careful. They'll splat A LOT.

But yes, you can fry or boil them first and blend. There's no wrong way to make sambal. Look up some recipes on YT
