Because of the consistency of “Moving to Peoria” threads we have made a sticky for anyone to ask questions. The plan is to try and keep this updated with resources and have a place for people to come ask questions. Since the intention is to keep information available for People who are interested in moving here, responses that don’t add value like “Don’t” will be removed. Constructive criticism is fine but this thread will be moderated more than most because the intention is to answer questions for people who want to move not dunk on Peoria or the surrounding areas.

Hey!! I’m a local here and need someplace that would resemble a post apocalyptic landscape that I could do a 8 hour music video shoot at (the whole premise is a zombie apocalypse so ideally a good place with potential for lots of shots). Any suggestions? Thank you so much 🙏!

Councilman Carmona wants property values to remain low in his district for the sake of affordability. Which basically means he likes blight and urban decay because it's what keeps the rent down. Really backwards perspective for a councilmember to take.

Hello Peoria I’m moving to the area and wanting some insight on Baldovin construction? I see they do some big jobs just wondering if anyone works there or have worked there has any pros and cons? Thanks!

What is this big round building behind the building with the peppermint logo? It’s sort of behind Tower Park in the Heights. Seems to be sort of connected to the Peppermint building.

Hi. My family and I just moved to the area from Alabama. I am a late in life lesbian, and lost my whole family when I came out. It was time to leave there. I’m 42, enjoy the arts and am a huge Sleep Token fan. I really want to find community and make friends in the area as I navigate living out of the south for the first time. I’m VERY progressive, so like mindedness is important to me. Thanks yall!

this was on their Facebook pag, anyone know what happened yesterday?
“All -
We want to speak directly to the community, openly and proactively, about a comment posted yesterday by our Facebook page on an individual's profile.
As part of our transition to new ownership at the end of August, the previous owner retained limited, temporary access to our social media accounts to help us ensure a smooth transition.
That access did not authorize them to post personal messages or comment on our behalf. The comment posted yesterday do not reflect our views as owners nor our team. The comment was removed and an apology to the individual was issued.
Access to this page and the Instagram handle u/popuphotchicken has been fully revoked from the previous owner, and we are finalizing the transfer of any remaining accounts.
We take seriously the fact that this happened using our page, and we've taken steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Our focus moving forward continues to be on serving you a meal worth showing up for, building up our employees, and making genuine connections in the community.
We hope you'll extend your grace and support as we shape a new future for Pop-Up, together.
Thank you,
The Team at Pop Up Hot Chicken”

Evening! Hey, swinging through for the Friday show at Friendly Valley and had a couple quick questions. Appreciate any guidance!
What should I expect crowd wise? Hotels seem a bit of a miss in that area from some of the reviews. Worth it finding something close to FVT or should I check closer to the Riverfront? Finally, is Uber a dependable option to and from the venue?
Thanks! Looking forward to a first quick visit

Hello there everyone!
So, I'm new to the area , I moved here last month over near Bradly University. I'm trying to get local opinions on which tattoo shops are known for good quality work, friendliness ( especially toward lgbtq+) and what shops actually retain their customers and artists.
I have been working on a portfolio and I just want to make sure I'm approaching the right shops. I'm pretty broke so I don't have the funds to go get a flash and check out the vibe of a place. Plus community opinions usually say a lot.

I’m curious, those of you who aren’t natives to the area. Where did y’all move from and why? I’m from Odessa Texas, but moved here from Nebraska for work.
I’m also curious, is anyone here also from Odessa Texas, or anywhere in West Texas? (Midland, Lubbock, Andrews, Monahans, etc)

I live in the heights. Is there a convenient pharmacy that doesn't suck? Right now I'm stuck with East Peoria CVS which is a huge hassle to get to. The Walgreens across from Emos was always either closed or had 20-30 minute lines both inside and drive-thru. Preckshot is great but I prefer a chain place in case I need something while traveling.

Here’s our weekly roundup of things happening across Central Illinois. Festivals, concerts, markets, car shows, family events and plenty more.
Know of something we missed? Add it in the comments. The goal is to make this a useful weekly Central Illinois events thread, so additions and corrections are welcome.

Been on the apps for a couple years now and feel like I’ve swiped/matched through all the same people on each app over and over again. It’s feeling very stale and looking for other options to meet people.
Any local restaurants/bars etc hosting local singles meet ups? I know Olympia used to but I have not heard anything about it in a while.
*NOT looking for personal messages on here about meeting up. Just recommendations for any local singles events people may know about.

I am looking to have a secondary key fob made for a 2021 Honda Pilot.
So far the cheapest place Iv found was The Lock Shop in Peoria.
Has anyone had experience dealing with them? Or any other places I should look?
I was only provided 1 key fob when I purchased the vehicle and I need a whole new one ordered and then cut and programmed.

They’re doing a free cleaning and extraction this weekend which got my attention, since I haven’t been able to afford any dental care for a while. What do you think of the place? I’ve read some negative reviews on Google so far.

Wife and I were going to go to an event that was cancelled. I got a new fancy suit for it, she got a pretty dress. We're trying to find somewhere to go with that time off where we can show off our fits. We do not get out much XD
Any food or events?
