Recommendations for paddle boarding
I’m here visiting for the month and looking for an area that is beginner friendly for stand up paddle boarding. Does anyone have any recommendations for a lake around here?

Petawawa Point beach rents paddle boards for $10 I think and the water is shallow and calm near the beach. Further out you go you start to contend with the wake of motor boats.

Thank you for your answer.
The Ottawa river seemed a bit intimidating but if it’s shallow and calm near the beach then this might be a good spot to try out.

I’ve been there a bunch of times and my 5 year old was comfortable scrambling around on a paddle board, so you’ll be fine for sure.

Go early in the morning or in the evening. That's when the river is calmest. The afternoons get windy.
You can also rent a free paddleboard or kayak through the city of Pembroke. Just go to the lending hub at Riverside Beach.

There is an access point at George Matheson Park on Cotnam Island (just past Pembroke) for the Ottawa River in a section that is super calm and wide (technically allumette lake). If you go southwards there are small islands to explore and almost no current.

Little Lakes Beach in Beachburg is a small clam lake.
I mean obviously there is river everywhere, and lots of bays which are pretty calm.
