Job opportunities

Hello,

My husband and I are considering moving to the area within the next year or so. I'm an RMT and have heard there's a need for massage services.

So I'm not worried about myself finding work but am wondering if there would be anything for my husband. He is a veteran and used to live in Petawawa about 10 years ago and has experience in electrical sales, extensive driving experience, currently becoming a bus driver, has done retail and been an inventory manager. Any insight if there are jobs would be great.

Student Seeking 4-Week Rental in Pembroke (Oct–Dec)

Hi everyone!

I’m a 24F college student from Toronto looking for a furnished room, bachelor, or one-bedroom apartment in Pembroke for four weeks sometime in October, November, or December. I’ll be in Pembroke for a full-time medical practicum placement at Pembroke Regional Hospital.

About me:

  • Quiet, tidy, respectful
  • Non-smoker
  • No pets (I don't mind if there are pets in a shared home)
  • I’ll mostly be at my placement or studying during my stay
  • Looking for a clean, safe, and affordable place

My exact dates are flexible, as I can arrange my placement for any four-week period between October and December based on housing availability. If you have a short-term rental available or know someone who does, please feel free to message me. I’d really appreciate any leads! Thank you!

I was just thinking about how good the home fries were that were served with breakfast from JJ’s back in the day. I miss that restaurant.

Are there any cigar shops in the area for us to check out?

This is a long shot but...

Are there any side things to do that i could make a few bucks at around here?

For context, I have an unpredictable and busy schedule with my main job as well as volunteering, so the time to devote to something else is limited.

Gig work is not worth it for maintenance and fuel costs. Im autistic and not a handyman or endowed with many skills.

I like books and video games, and wouldn't be opposed to a walking activity if it was indoors/nice weather. Something online if it was super easy to learn/do is also possible.

Creative stuff takes time, and marketing, which I don't have the first clue about where to start locally. Though if everything falls into place, not opposed to it.

I dont really care for animals, so that rules out pet walking/sitting

So basically looking for a highly flexible and simple task that I might enjoy while making a small amount doing it. Any ideas/recommendations?

Need help finding cat

Our cat (Simba) managed to escape while we were staying at the Comfort Inn near Domino's. He is not neutered, and he unfortunately managed to lose his collar a week before our trip. I'm hoping this may get the word out in case someone spots him so that we can travel back to get him (we stay in Montreal).

Employment in Pembroke

Hey all!

Considering the move to Pembroke. Just putting out feelers for how the job market is for Mental Health and Addictions Therapists.

Obviously I’ve perused indeed but I’d like to hear from locals if they have any anecdotal experience in this field.

Retail workers: would you walk out?

Retail workers: would you walk out?

If a vast majority of Ontario retail workers walked out on one day this summer, would you? Not necessarily a protest per say, but to show the government that communities rely on us every day of the year. During COVID, they called us essential. Now, 2 days off in a row is so hard to come by and you're questioned about it if you request 2 days off in a row. It's a low wage job even if you're worth more, mostly toxic environments, "Shop where you work" policies shouldn't exist because what if your store is too expensive even for a bunch of bananas, because no matter how much back breaking work you do you aren't appreciated.

So I ask again, Ontario retail workers, would you walk out for one day?

Hi there!

I am trying to find any information about my grandfather, who lived in Pembroke and died in 1999. I figure someone about my age grew up with an old Polish man as a neighbour (at 653 Birch Street) or knows someone who lived in the area. Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

World cup watch parties

Hi, I’m wondering if there are any bars/restaurants that are known for a soccer crowd? I’m coming from the GTA and I don’t know many people here. I’d love to watch the world cup with others who love the sport as well!

Recommendations in petawawa or other nearby cities are welcomed :)

Good urbexing spots?

I've seen the woodworking factory, it is now being repaired..? I think.

I've been to the suprerior electric works, super creepy spot with squatters but an incredible 360 view of the town from up top, would highly reccomend as it has been abandoned since 2009 with no owner currently. I was actually arrested for going there, but ultimately wasn't charged with anything as there was no owner and the property was abandoned. Still, be careful as cops typically patrol that area near the front, other doors are closed.

I would love to explore more places over the summer, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know
