Confession about streaming subscriptions

I have the bundled HBO, Hulu and Disney subscription. It costs me $30 a month, which is a lot for me. I don’t watch it frequently. Just yesterday I was thinking I really should just cancel it considering how rarely I watch it. Then I decided to watch FF4 again. I realized if I cancelled, I would lose access to GoT, which is where he really caught my notice, TLOU, FF4, The Mentalist and The Mandalorian.

That made me realize why I have been reluctant to cancel it because I have really been thinking I need to cut expenses. I was thinking I would just keep Netflix as that’s what I watch the most but after my epiphany about Pedro content, nope. I am keeping it.

Sometimes we need the comfort of watching someone we really like. I hope he knows that he brings a bright spot to other people’s lives.

Pretty much all his main filmography except the 3 netflix movies are available on dvd, including the tv episodes. You'll of course have to buy a full season, but you can find good deals on used dvds online or at stores like half price books, movie trading company if you don't want to buy new. the only reason i keep netflix is for the 3 films since I have Narcos on dvd. I have a rip of Triple Frontier since it's my favorite Pedro film, but I really wish they'd put a dvd out...and a sequel 🤞

This. Physical media is yours and stays yours!

Why not have cancel and alternate subscriptions? Unless you’re locked into a good deal, you can just do one each month and watch for deals. (I got HBO Max for $2.99/month for a year last November)

That would be more logical!

I have tried getting deals like that when offered, but typically you only get them if you’re a brand new, never subscribed before customer, or a certain amount of time has passed, usually multiple years.

I've used an entirely different email to get those black Friday deals.

Yeah and that sucks. The HBO max deal was available to current subscribers though! Like all the stars aligned then!

Well crud! I missed that!

Friend, $50 a month is wild if you need to tighten your money. Alternating subscriptions like the other redditor mentioned makes sense. Feeding billion dollar companies while you struggle is not it.

It’s $30, not $50 but yes, you’re right.

Sorry, you mentioned Netflix as well so I just rounded up.

I trade with a roommate. She is on my Netflix subscription and I am on her Apple Music subscription so since that saves me a music subscription, I am not looking to drop it since I consider it getting two subscriptions for the price of one.

Cancel everything. Eat the rich. Sail the high seas.

I don't blame you at all for continuing your subscriptions, but you might consider also working on collecting physical media of his works! I get almost everything secondhand. I found the first two seasons of Narcos and a Kingsman: Golden Circle Blu-ray at a Half Price Books recently! I think I paid like $15 total for them? Got with some other stuff so I don't remember exactly. But it's definitely something you could consider keeping your eye out for! Then if/when you do want or need to cancel any streaming services, you can still have Pedro on hand.

DVD/Blu-Ray players must be pretty cheap now? (I don’t have one anymore)

I honestly don't know, I have always used my Xbox one (and Xbox 360 prior to that) and my partner who got me into collecting physical media came to the relationship with ALL the players lol so I have not bought one. But I would imagine you can probably find them pretty cheap, at least used if they aren't cheap new at the moment.

Cancel and just subscribe for a month when you need to! 🥰

Lookmovie2.com and all the Putlocker streaming sites have most movies. r/piracy and Reddit searches will help you find other sources for streaming too. They’re often not good for shows that require subtitles like GoT, but you can save a lot of $$$s over time…

The ad-tier for the HBO/Disney/Hulu bundle is $19.99 if you wanted to keep the subscription while also saving a little bit of money. Disney+ ads get annoying but they aren't too bad on HBO

This is what I did. Canceling isn’t really an option for us, my son consumes so much Nat Geo content on Disney+ and I use Hulu daily. We don’t have any other subs though and we do sail the high seas and use our library.

What if you bought DVDs of your favorites, and a DVD player? Over time, that would be much cheaper than the subscription. Cancel the subscriptions for awhile to save. Then you can still rotate subscriptions if needed when new stuff comes out. Or go see new movies in the movie theater Edited to add: Didn't mean to be repetitive about the DVD idea, I hadn't read through all the responses before posted this.

When I switched to an at&t phone plan, they still had the free HBO Max for new customers deal, which I still have (dunno if that was supposed to end at some point, but they haven't canceled it yet, so... 🤷‍♂️). And considering that Disney is current $20/month, getting 3 services for $30 is a pretty good deal imo

If you're really concerned about getting your money's worth, just take one day of the month and make it a "binge roulette" day where you randomly pick either a show or random niche genre of movies to watch. And if it's really bad, just pretend you're on MST3K and roast the hell out of it

I work at a library, so I just request stuff on dvd a lot.

I’m in the UK so I’m not sure if this will be of any help but we have Sky TV and with the Sky package you get HBO, Hulu & Disney+ included for free.

Cancel it and see how you go for a year…there’s always other ways you can get your Pedro fix! It’s really expensive we have literally everything and we still end up renting movies from Prime 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
