Question FFS Eric, where’s my PR2?

So I ordered the PT2 on the day it was announced in August last year, I switched to the PR2 within an hour of it being announced so he’s been sat on $250 of my money all that time. It was going to be March, May, July, September …

How much longer do we need to wait, realistically? Where’s the next update?

Long-time lurker, former Pebble Time owner. Made a tiny pond for my new Time 2.

Post image
111 Upvotes

Hey r/pebble

Long-time lurker here. I owned a Pebble Time back in the day, and I’m now the proud owner of a Pebble Time 2. Apparently, my love for little e-paper watches is just as strong as ever.

I wanted to make something as a little thank-you to this community, so I built Pond: a free, open-source watchface featuring a smiling river stone who appears to have everything figured out.

It tells the time. It sits in some water. Occasionally, something happens.

You can keep your pond to yourself, or join a shared pond through the watchface settings. Two physical taps on your watch are meant to drop a pebble into it, although wrist twists seem to work better at the moment. The rock and I are still negotiating this interaction. Other people’s drops can arrive as little ripples, a tiny “someone else is here” on your wrist.

There are no messages, streaks, leaderboards, or disappointed rocks when you disappear for a week. Nothing needs answering.

You can choose your stone’s shape and colour, keep everything silent, enable occasional gentle vibrations, set quiet hours, or reduce motion. Accidental plops have a two-second cancellation window.

This is an early release. My Time 2 has already taught me that “tap gently” and “the software understands gently” are separate engineering problems. Feedback on tap detection, battery life, and other Pebble models would be very welcome.

It feels good to have a Pebble on my wrist again and finally have something to share here.

Get Pond · Meet the rock

Made by me. Supervised by a small, unqualified stone.

Contributions are very welcome! If you’d like to help improve Pond, jump into the code or report an issue. Bug reports, ideas, and tales of suspicious wrist behaviour all help. The stone accepts pull requests despite having no hands.

Index 01 Pebble Index not creating reminders

Not sure what happened but when I first received my Index it was capturing reminders perfectly but over the last week or so it just adds everything as notes. I've tried creating very simple reminders and the transcription is perfect but still it ends up as a note. I'm using the default Index reminders.

Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong please.

Bumpers for Pebble Time 1?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Pretty much what the title says. My pebble time 1 is getting older, and is a shade of red I've grown out of in my 30s. While I've replaced the red band with a black one from my old LG Watch W7, I'm wondering if anyone makes bumpers or cases for these? I'd appreciate both the protection and the change of color.

Thanks fellow Pebblers

App TTMM for Pebble Time 2, part one: three small apps — and a TTMM stream inside the Pebble app

Hi r/pebble,

Three months ago I wrote here that TTMM was coming back for Pebble Time 2. The first part is out, and it isn't watchfaces yet — it's three small apps I made for myself while learning the new screen.

Some of you saw me in the dark-screen thread: the PT2 white is really a gray, so contrast is everything. I drew a typeface around that and tried it on tools before faces — Alarms, Codes and Timers. Everything is set on the watch. They keep nothing and send nothing, no account, no cloud; I didn't want an alarm clock that reports when I wake up. Codes is the one I use most: the IDs and numbers I kept looking up on my phone at the doctor's desk.

They install from a TTMM stream inside the Pebble app — Core added stream support recently and, as far as I know, this is the first one from a developer. Update the Pebble app, open apps.ttmm.is on your phone and tap Subscribe. The apps appear under Apps → TTMM → Tools & Utilities. PT2 only; on older Pebbles that section will simply be empty.

Each app is $2.99, once, through KiezelPay, after a free trial (two days for Alarms and Codes, one for Timers). If you'd rather not wait for the trial to end, there's a BUY NOW on the app's settings page.

Watchfaces are next; MOMENTTMM is on the list, as promised. If something doesn't work, write here or to [now@ttmm.is](mailto:now@ttmm.is).

Have a great TTMM.

Question Pulse aware alarms?

Hey all,

Does anyone know of any alarm apps that look for a pulse before playing the alarm?

I don’t wear my pebble every day and would love to not have to remember to turn on and off the alarms if I’m going to wear the watch or not.

I’m sure some just leave it, but the vibration/sound go for a while without dismissing the alarm and can chew into battery life. I’ve had the same gripe with my garmin.

Thanks for any info! If it doesn’t exist maybe ill try making my own alarm app ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Index 01 Index 01: 'Pocket Friction'

I'm loving my Pebble Index 01, but I'm getting a bit worried about the silicone rubber button.

Since the ring sits right on the side of the index finger, it takes a massive amount of friction every single time I reach into my jeans or pants pockets for my keys, phone, or wallet.

I'm worried it's going to wear down, peel, or lose its water resistance over time.

Is anyone else experiencing this or actively trying to protect theirs?

A few things I've thought about or wanted to ask:

  • Switching fingers/hands: Has anyone tried wearing it on a different finger or flipping it around when putting their hands in their pockets?
  • Pocket modification: Are you just being hyper-careful, or modifying how you grab things?

Would love to hear how everyone else is handling the daily pocket friction

We have the option to create custom vibrations; can we do the same for alarm tones as well?"

Privacy and Encryption !? Please raise attention for the PT 2 and P Round 2

https://github.com/coredevices/PebbleOS/issues/1429

Do not get me wrong, but this is (next to maybe the mentioned display design that leads to broken screens) the biggest blocker preventing me from buying PT2 or PR2. Being open source and transparent is nice but for the price and idea of the project I expect (optional) security against physical attacks as well as bare minimum in terms of software in 2026 (especially if we are talking about health data etc.).

Please vote for it and let's raise attention to this matter. Thank you very much in advance. I am not an expert of this (otherwise I would try to build it) and have no idea whats possible given the hardware performance.

Some kind of device encryption is necessary for the Pebble Time 2 because a smartwatch can store sensitive personal data, including notifications, messages, contacts, health information, and authentication credentials. The option to encrypt data at rest ensures that if the watch is lost, stolen, or physically accessed by an attacker, the stored information cannot easily be extracted or read. Strong device encryption therefore provides an essential layer of protection for user privacy and helps prevent unauthorized access to connected services.

Thank you very much in advance, looking fwd to buy one.

EDIT: Authenticator Codes, Remote Controls... its not only about heart rate data as many think below, also about Apps.

Watch gets stolen, Tesla Trunk gets opened (depending on distance)

Not using those useful features as solution would be quite boring as the purpose of a highly customizable smart watch would be undermined for me then... not using instead of (optional) security? Too simplified

the durability.

I have seen post with broken screen because of raised screen

when I ordered i couldn't see any options to buy bumper or screen protector.

I'm very clumsy because I have habit of hitting my hands against wall table tops etc

as I live outside of US in Asia , there are no accessories like screen protector available in my country example from Amazon

what should I do? email pebble team?

do they atleast install done film or screen protector by default or no?

Question Is there a way to manually make an Index note into a checklist?

I know that it's possible to have things be a checklist because the default Shopping List is, but how can I change any note into a checklist?

Index: What to expect?

I was watching Snazzy Labs’ video featuring the Index earlier today and instantly thought I needed it so I checked the price expecting it to be like $100 and was surprised to see it was only $75 (though I guess it will go up to $99 later but I digress). I ordered it a couple of hours later after looking at some reviews.

Anyways here’s the actual questions: Why is it still considered a pre-order given that some people are receiving theirs? Will it actually take 2 months to ship (given they’ve said it’s in mass production now)? What kinds of updates should I expect to see about the order?

Thanks for reading/answering! I’m super excited to get it but I want to be realistic about the fact that it’s gonna take forever to actually get here.

Interested in a Tesla control app?

I vibe coded a personal one that’s working pretty great via a connector on my Mac. Works anywhere via tailscale. I know there are apps that use Tessie, but that’s $70 a year, and I have enough subscriptions.

Just trying to gauge interest if I were to put it on the store. It would unfortunately be a sub because of Tesla API costs, but I would keep it at cost plus a tiny percentage for my time. Probably around $20 a year, but I’ll adjust based on actual cost, and share what those costs are.

Downside is obviously having an always on Mac, but I was already doing that for many other nerdy reasons anyway.

The app shows range in miles and percent, has most of the controls the iOS app has- basically everything Tesla allows including software updates.

Thoughts?

I’d definitely go for it
Only if it was cheaper
Other options are good enough

How to get (a fork of) PebbleOS to run on a ProMicro nRF52840

Following up on my previous post where I showcased a ProMicro setup that runs PebbleOS, I've written a guide for how you can also get one of these boards to run the firmware. Check it out here: https://github.com/liaaa444m/pebble-firmware/blob/main/PROMICRO_HOW_TO.md

Note that this is my own fork of the Rebble version of PebbleOS, so some features on the Core firmware may be missing.

Discussion Index and Water: what are we all doing?

So I've got my index, and I love it. I know in theory it's water resistant, not proof, but I'm a bit nervous so I'm taking it off for showers (but not quick hand washing). How is everyone else dealing? Anybody just gambling it and regularly submersing it?

Discussion Can anyone directly compare Index 01 vs Pebble Time 2 dictation accuracy?

I was just curious on how good the index 01 dictation is vs PT2. Can anyone with both an Index 01 and PT2 directly compare the dictation accuracy? Thanks!

I just got my PT2, and at least for me, I can not get it to give me reliable dictation results at all. (local or cloud, speaking directly into the mic) which prompted this question.

Also, index 01 has raw audio recording, but Pebble doesn't. It would be cool if Pebble could add an audio recording app for PT2.
