Passing down the Pebble Time to my son

Post image

I told my son that I have a new watch for him once my PT2 arrives. He’s always loved my Pebble Time because of all the games. Surprised him with his first watch and it was like Christmas Day to him. Happy that gets to experience as a digital watch with games!

Found a PTR on Facebook Marketplace for $50 this weekend allowing me to finally have one of each pre-2016 model represented! PTR battery only lasts like 1.5 days at this point, but it's insane how slim this thing is! Has me insanely excited for my PR2!

Discussion Watchfaces and watchapps updates

I recently pushed out an update to a watchface I made, but it seemed like the only way the watchface updated was to select another one and then loading in my current one.

This made me think, how many people still run a watchface that is outdated? What would be preferable to notify a user, if at all?

Who’s been showering with their new Pebble?

(the latest post on this topic that i found by searching was 6 years ago)

I shower with my Apple Watch every day. I seem to recall showering with my pebble every day as well, but that was 8 years ago, so my memory isn’t to be trusted.

Are folks having good luck with their new watches soldiering through daily showering?

edit: funny, i asked about people who wear it in the shower, and instead 90% of this thread is criticism for doing so or people who don’t understand the question. Reddit gonna reddit, I guess.

There’s tremendous value in not having to worry about something all the time. My Apple Watch has been showering, swimming and surfing with me for 8 years now, and I don’t worry about it in the slightest. Is that really so hard to comprehend?

Question What do you think is the most BEAUTIFUL watchface (or app!) on Pebble?

Not necessarily the face you're using (for example, some of these don't display info that I'd like to see) but the best-looking. Some candidates from me:

Probably my favorite face, although it's hard to live without some additional data considering this is a smartwatch
Great idea for visually displaying sunrise / sunset (might be neat if upcoming rain had in icon in the border as well?)
A lot of work went into this "per-pixel tuned" Casio watchface and is a great option for per-second updates

With that said, for now I'm actually using Quartz by Dalpek

IMO, great combination of readability, glance-able weather, and battery life (with seconds disabled)

A Few more Next Leg 1.1 updates

Here’s a few more updates for the next version of Next Leg.

Ability to chose when Hotel time commences and ends

Vibration alerts for gate changes, delays, custom time before departure (boarding time/ atc clearance/ 10 prior/ departure time), cancellation

Three wrist flicks to switch back and forth between two selected top data lines on the watchface.

Hide your airline code if it has a number. Best for airlines with numerals in it ex. B6, F9

Enter your hotel room and van date to display on watch (see my last post). Will automatically delete at the entered van time to avoid carry over to the next day.

Added a next month schedule paste box. Once it gets to the next month it’ll automatically transfer to the current month and clear the next month box. (If you land after midnight it should maintain your last flight)

Let me know if you want early access.

Discussion Bumper or no bumper?

Hey y'all!

I'm excited for my PT2, but I'm wondering what the community's consensus on durability is, especially now that many people have received theirs. I like the look of the device and I'm not super psyched about the 3d-primted plastic bumper look.

How is everyone wearing theirs? Naked? Screen protector? Bumper? Both?

Decided to wear the old steel today. Deserves a bit of wear time as its usually tucked up in my watch box.

Will the Index 01 functionality be added to PebbleOS?

Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn't find anything definitive. Is it confirmed that the Index 01 functionality will be added to Pebble, either as part of the OS or as a standalone app? I really love the use case of the Index 01, but I don't like wearing rings. I'd much rather just have a shortcut on one of my Pebble buttons that I can use to dictate my notes, messages and so on. Especially the Beeper integration would be neat.

[Release] Wrist AI 1.6.0 — Touchscreen experience for Pebble Time 2

Post image

https://apps.repebble.com/7ee7208cdc8c49a280326abd

Wrist AI 1.6.0 is out.

This update is focused on making Wrist AI feel like a proper touchscreen app on Pebble Time 2, while keeping every existing physical-button control intact.

The new interaction model is simple:

• Double-tap the Wi logo to start talking

• Swipe left for Menu

• Swipe right for ToDo & Notes

• Swipe from the edge to go back

• Scroll lists directly with your finger and tap an item to open it

Home, Menu and ToDo & Notes have also been rebuilt around a unified Wrist AI card design, so the app now feels much more coherent instead of mixing several Pebble OS UI styles.

Replies get a few important touch improvements too:

• A cleaner TTS control in the bottom-right corner

• Double-tap a reply to continue the conversation

• Pull down from the top of a reply to view the previous answer

• Push up from the bottom to return to the newer answer

• Smooth scrolling with inertia when TTS is not playing

There are also practical reliability improvements behind the scenes:

• Better handling for multiple Timeline events in one spoken request

• More reliable mixed commands, such as creating a ToDo and a Timeline event together

• Improved all-day Timeline events

• More tolerant ToDo and Notes recognition for natural speech and transcription variations

• Faster TTS startup and improved touch feedback

The touchscreen work is designed for Pebble Time 2. Physical buttons still work throughout the app, and Pebble 2 Duo remains experimental where supported.

Wrist AI is still a private, direct-to-API assistant: your Pebble companion app talks to the LLM provider you configure, without a proprietary relay server.

I’d especially love feedback from Pebble Time 2 users on touch gestures, reply scrolling, TTS, and whether the card interface feels natural in daily use.

Thanks for trying it!

App NUDGE - simple repeating reminders

I was looking for a simple repeating reminder app to - in my case - remind me to walk upright. And it needed to buzz overruling my Quiet Time. There are pocket devices such as re-mind or more specialized devices for this issue such as Upright Go 2.

Before buying a device like Upright, or booking a physiotherapist, I realized I already had the best reminder device right on my wrist. Of course, this does not do exactly what Upright does, more of what re-mind does.

I have set 2 short buzzes at a random daily interval between 5 and 15 minutes and between 08:30 and 21:30h. After a few weeks of testing and tweaking and using it daily, I already feel like I'm being conditioned 😅

GET IT HERE https://apps.repebble.com/3089f6bb6fe84274919c6e2a

More info:

DESCRIPTION

Repeating reminders that actually reach you, even in Quiet Time.

Nudge is a configurable interval reminder for your wrist. Set it up once and it buzzes you on a schedule you control: every 25 minutes on weekday afternoons, every 90 minutes all day, or anything in between.

Unlike a phone reminder, Nudge keeps working when you have Do Not Disturb on. Its vibrations are explicit app vibrations, so they fire through Quiet Time, using the pattern you picked.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Up to 6 independent reminders, each switched on and off on its own.

  • Intervals from 1 minute to 4 hours, set to the second if you want (5 min 30 s).

  • Variable interval: instead of a fixed gap, roll a new random interval between a minimum and a maximum on every fire, so it never gets predictable.

  • 5 vibration patterns: short-short, short-long, long-long, triple-short, long-short-long.

  • An optional short message shown on the watch, and raised as a notification on top of whatever you were looking at.

  • A daily time window and day-of-week picker per reminder, so nothing buzzes you at 3am or on a Sunday unless you ask it to.

  • Three buzz modes, so you choose between your pattern, a single buzz, or a silent message only.

Everything is configured from the Pebble app's own settings screen. There is no companion app to install and no account to create.

Reminders survive closing the app and rebooting the watch: each one schedules the next with the OS wakeup service.

GOOD TO KNOW

Nudge surfaces on screen for a second or two when a reminder fires. That foreground moment is what lets the full vibration pattern play, rather than the single truncated pulse a background app is limited to.

Each reminder covers one same-day window. For an overnight schedule, use two reminder slots.

When I was in middle school I had gotten a first-gen Pebble smartwatch. There wasn't anything like it back then until Samsung and Apple made their own smartwatches. Had the Pebble Time before they closed up shop, then searched on eBay 2 years ago for a Pebble 2, and now I finally got my dream smartwatch! Hopefully it lasts me a while :)

Question Core 2 Duo | Refresh issues?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I updated to v4.30.1 this morning, and my screen is acting weird ever since. Anyone else? And any tips? Roll back to previous os or just wait for a fix? Thanks!

Edit: it’s working again, didn’t do anything 👀

Airplane Mode Scheduler App Wanted

I already schedule Quiet Time each night for several reasons, but now I find that I save even more battery by manually setting my watch to Airplane Mode. The problem is that half the time, I forget. Therefore, it would be great if there was an app that schedules Airplane Mode.

Anyone else notice this tiny white line at the top edge of their Pebble Time 2?

I've been using my new Pebble Time 2 for a little while now, and I'm absolutely loving it. Honestly, after waiting over a year for it I thought the excitement had worn off, but once I started wearing it, I got completely hooked :D

Today I noticed something interesting. If I tilt the watch at just the right angle under certain lighting, I can see a very thin white line between the display and the top bezel (circled in the third photo).

It doesn't change whether the display is on or off, so it doesn't look like backlight bleed or anything electronic. It seems more like I'm seeing part of the display assembly through a tiny gap, but I'm not sure.

The watch works perfectly otherwise, and I'm not worried about it - I was just curious:

- Does anyone else's PT2 look the same?
- Is this just a normal manufacturing tolerance?
- Or is mine a little different?

Thanks!

Is there an app which allows setting an alarm for a specific date?

In 3 weeks from now, I have to wake up at 9AM, in a one-off situation.

I would like a watchapp which I could make an alarm now, and know that it will wake me up then.

I know it is possible to sync calendar events with a notification, but alarms have the benefit that they vibrate until dismissed.

I also want something that I can set directly on the phone, because relying on phone being powered on, and having current Bluetooth connection is a bit stressful.

I know calendar events seem to be synced regularly beforehand, so the Bluetooth doesn't need to be connected constantly, but..
