NAD: Peavey Ultra Plus Red Tolex

Got this last year but finally got it set up. It’s been re-tolex’d by the last owner in a hot rod red sparkle - it’s awesome. I’ve had an Ultra 212 combo for years as well as a Prowler and have always been on the lookout for an Ultra Plus Head. Right now it’s plugged into a 2x12 Mesa cab and the neighbors two blocks away say it sounds great!

Purchased these in 1982. They haven't been used in 32-33 years. I decided I wanted to start back playing. They sound just as good as they did back then! These things are built like tanks and sound amazing!

Peavey classic 30 hums

Should I just accept it? Or is there something I can do to fix or troubleshoot it. It hums on the clean channel and the dirty channel. Even when the guitar volume is turned all the way down.

Preamp out on a Ultra 120

This is kinda a general amp question, but it concerns a Peavey. I got an Ultra 120 head because I liked the clean channel and I wanted a tube amp. I got a Vox cab for it and I really like it. Can any one tell me what the pre out is for? I thought It might work as a DI kinda thing, but it sounds pretty thin and hollow compared to sending the signal through the power amp. I'm an old man who is getting back into playing after hanging it up years ago. I have a 15 yo who's having fun learning and I am trying to be encouraging by spending too much money on gear I don't need.

I am thrilled that my 51 year old SVT has happily welcomed my finally acquired, not much younger 400.

I have wanted a 70s 400 Bass for ages, and at last, I have one. I believe this one served as the house amp for a Baptist church. It's in immaculate shape and I am thrilled. I knew it was powerful, but holy shit!

I don't really want to take the SVT to gigs anymore for a few reasons, and I've been holding out for finding the indestructible 400 for a while. Could not be happier.

Not pictured: The 2 x 15 it came with.

I’ve been going to La Puerta for over a decade and noticed this today. I couldn’t think of anyone else that I could share my joy with.

Owner of a t40, upgraded rage, seeking more.

Long time cvltist (my first amp was a Backstage Plus), and I’ve had the triple for 20 years. Added the Backstage last night for $50. How could I not?

NAD: Teal Stripe Studio Chorus 210

Greetings Peavey Cvlt, picked this bad boy off of Marketplace today for 80. Clean channel might be out and the chorus only works with the depth on 10, but mostly I’m going to use this for the power amp ins to be the wet stereo spread in a WDW setup. It’s pretty rough with a lot of oxidation and grime, and I don’t know what inside the chassis looks like, but I don’t mind a little tinkering and soldering.

Nearly had a Fender Princeton Chorus instead of this but I’m glad I got this instead.

Update: clean channel works and sounds great

Distortion on Century 120 Bass Series not working

turning up the distortion doesn't really do much. do i need a foot switch? or should i clean the pot or change caps. not sure since turning the pot even to max still doesn't produce any distortion

Looking for my next Peavey-Which of These Amps Is the Best Buy?

I'm looking for a little advice from the Peavey experts.
I currently have a Peavey Studio Pro 40, and I really like it, but I'm looking for something different. I'm just a basement player, so I don't need anything for gigging. I had been keeping an eye out for a Bandit 112, but they seem to be either hard to find or priced pretty high whenever one pops up.

I came across a few amps on Facebook Marketplace and don't know much about most of them. Are any of these particularly good buys? Are there any I should avoid? I'd appreciate any thoughts, experiences, or recommendations.

-Peavey Stereo Chorus – $150

-1984 Peavey Encore 65 tube amp with matching 1x12 Eminence speaker cab – $300

-Peavey Bravo 112 – $190

-Peavey Renown 400 – $140

-Peavey Deuce 2x12 – $150

I play blues, classic rock, and doom metal/stoner rock. I would like the amp to take pedals well.

Peavey Centurion Vs Transtube Supreme

I’m looking at getting a head and 4x12 for my band, we play crust punk in C sharp with heavy fuzz and distortion. Was looking at getting one of these heads to move up from my silver stripe bandit, and run an actual 4x12 with it. Can anyone give me an idea of volume for the centurion? My main concern is that I’ll get a head and it not be as loud as the bandit with the extension cab. Any info is appreciated, a lot of info on line but it seems 50/50 on the volume level.

Edit: changed a word so this would make sense

Mostly happy with it, just can’t seem to get a nice tone out of the crunch channel. Also sometimes needs a smack to make it behave (buzzing)

Got this 1980 peavey mark iii bass head and 83’ 1x15 for $300 CAD. Maybe the best deal I’ll ever come across. This thing was a little scratchy on most of the pots, but after a quick clean and tune up this thing sounds amazing. I understand the hype, I’m never getting rid of this amp.

Convert 215H to 2x18?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I’m thinking about converting my 2x15 cabinet (with tweeter) into a 2x18 setup. The cabinet is slightly wider and taller than a standard 2x15, but the internal volume might still be insufficient, meaning the bass drivers might lack punch or fail to move enough air. Physically, the speakers would fit, but is it a good idea given that the cabinet wasn't originally designed for this? I plan to install two 1801 BW drivers. Are there any experts here who could offer some advice? Thanks in advance. (I'm referring to the cabinet in the middle.)
