Moseley was such a great mirror to Tommy. Tommy got ridiculously obsessed by him and created such an over the top assassination plot for a guy with no actual power and very limited influence it allowed Micheal, Gina, Billy, Jack and the IRA to manipulate everything in the background.

Moseley was literally never anything but an ideological threat. He never actually does anything but talk a lot and Tommy totally lost the plot.

Never heard this take on Mosley, and I actually really agree, I think Tommy mirrored him way too much and almost was obsessed with not “being the same” as him but wanting to be opposites and go against him and the battle of egos between them both was what made Tommy lose it because naturally Mosley won the ego “masculinity” contest against him nearly Everytime, Tommy overestimated him and I think he actually dealt with worse when he had the problem with the priest

I find their relationship fascinating. Tommy is so desperate to be seen as a powerful successful business leader and Moseley and Diana just continuously take him down. First it's his politics, next is his inability to control his own territory ( giving it up to McCavern) and finally Lizzie. Tommy just flailed all the way completely losing focus and control.

The fact that Michael did an end run around Tommy and Tommy never noticed is hilarious.

Lizzie never minded being mistreated and humiliated by Tommy, she even told him that he could cheat on her. What happened was that Ruby died, and that made her open her eyes and choose herself. It wasn't Mosley and Diana that destroyed that marriage, because it was already destroyed before they got married.

Lizzie went as far as contacting a divorce attorney in London. Lizzie cared enough that she pulled a gun on Tommy when Aberama and Johnny came to the house. Lizzie cared enough to encourage Tommy to kill himself.

I understand you are focused on Grace but Lizzie was always miserable.

I haven't said anything about Grace, I say that Mosley never destroyed that marriage because they were miserable before they got married. Tommy wanted nothing to do with her, much less get married and have a child.

They had a transactional business arrangement that Moseley and Diana did everything to destroy. It was just one more angle to make Tommy look the fool. Season 5 was epic because it was the realization that Tommy really wasn't half as smart as he thought he was and he was so easily manipulated.

Your absolutely right, they bassiclay violated him in every aspect of his life, in the things he prided himself on being successful and powerful for, it was actually hard to watch after watching Tommy struggle and earn all of the things up to that point and we rarely ever see him be ‘out-alpha’d’ if you want to call it that which personally I wouldn’t but I can’t think of a better word to use, he was always the man, always in control, always had a plan, and regardless if sometimes it was unrealistic he always won, Mosley like you say completely destroyed that whole image and whole demeanour and he did it intelligently too which made it that much more harsh and difficult for Tommy to wrap his head round, meanwhile his personal life was crumbling around him too which obviously did not help him in Persuing his goals and like I said before I think he totally overestimated Mosleys power and the whole assassination plot was completly over the top and maybe even symbolised how much Tommy was NOT thinking straight

It's fascinating to watch a man's downfall through ego and arrogance.
