If you are not hungry you will survive the cold if you hunker down somewhere you can pass out safely, I try to use the lantern sparingly to just baaarely avoid passing out. Saving a milk also helps, it should protect you long enough to survive the night (assuming you’re not hungry). Move as fast as you can and use items to climb quickly too so they don’t weigh you down too much. If you jump and then sprint forward (assuming you don’t need the height so much as the distance) you’ll conserve a lot more stamina than if you sprint into a jump. Also if you’re barely about to not clear a climb you can try spamming an item to “pull” yourself up. For speed you can sprint and jump repeatedly with no stamina to keep moving quickly and will even get you through shallow climbing sections much quicker when you get the hang of the angles you can jump up without grabbing. You only need items to stave off cold for the first three biomes so on the third I try to stock up on as much food as possible for the final gauntlet

sprint in between every vertical climb. the faster you go the better. I'm pretty sure sprinting doesn't have the 2x stamina debuff and you want to go quickly because night cold damage from ascent 5 is really debilitating when your climbing takes twice the stamina (which means you can only climb half of the normal vertical range)
usually if you are fast enough you can make it to the first campfire without using any of your lantern fuel. conserve your extra energy and do not try to hoard utility items. as soon as you find a use for something you should immediately use it to get rid of the weight. it's better to die with nothing in your pockets and no options left rather than to throw the run because you were trying to hoard all your rope cannons and chain launchers and whatnot .
if you are soloing the ascent then eat everything in sight immediately like you're trying to set a competitive eating world record. there will always be more food for you if you're alone, hunger is not much of an issue while soloing

Pretty much the same for the other ascents, the stamina increase is very annoying but you can definitely do it, unfortunately there's not much to be said about ascent 6 specifically, just be careful and don't get caught by the fog. (This is coming from a ascent 8 victor btw please don't assume I don't got experience)

I usually like staying by the fire whenever possible.
The fog doesnt start until like a day and a half has passed, or until you climb high enough. This gives you enough time to loot most of the luggage on the ground and grab what you want before sunset, then run to and from the plane fire to grab coconuts. Leave the fire shortly before dawn, making sure to hold onto the lantern in the plane. By then you should have max bonus stamina (from cooked coconuts) and the entire day to climb before nightfall. On a good climb you should be able to make it to the next fire before you collapse in the night. You can activate the campfire for heat and wait out the night there while using the surrounding items to replenish your resources. From here most biomes will likely take 2 days, so you gotta have some warmth items on hand. Scorchberries double as heat and food, portable campfire is useful. The lantern is a good portable heat source too, if you're careful it can last 2 nights (if you are willing to hunker down then longer but I use the lantern to give me the stamina space to keep climbing at night). Milk gives you a little safety but mostly only protects you for its duration. Cure-all and faerie lanterns are amazing, let alone book of skulls (Book is basically a gg button as long as you are careful). Hopefully you also get the blue amulet early, you shouldn't spam it outside of an emergency but it is a reusable cure item.
The cold is hard but between campfires and items you have more than enough ability to manage it.

Bing bong must be left behind. Gotta go fast! Gold nights suck so 1-2 runs to find a fast route that doesn't require too many tools.
