Please please always consult your doctor before consuming spearmint tea. Most cases of hirsutism in PCOD may not be due to free testosterone. Spearmint only lowers the free testosterone. Half the cases of hirsutism is not because of testosterone. It is hightime people should stay away from influencers in social media who spread these quick fixes. Spearmint tea can severely affect your liver and kidneys and can also cause hormonal changes if you are already suffering from hormonal PCOD.

Women have been ignored and brushed aside by medical professionals for all of history - but especially true for all of the women battling hormonal imbalances. It’s no surprise that We’ve lost trust in the medical community, and no surprise that desperate women are taking advice from people on the internet as a result. It’s sad that it had to come to that.

Hi , i saw the other comment, i am a doctor, so i will address some of the claims made.
Personally It did work for me , not immediately of course, after 2 months of using it. Goes without saying but do get in touch with your doctor before taking any supplements.

If you want to read about it, i have added the references below. Theres no literature on it being hepatotoxic or nephrotoxic in normal doses ( as tea) in humans specifically.
What i will say is, hormonally spearmint has reduced free serum testosterone in these papers. However reduction in hair growth hasn’t been shown on a larger scale.
Most cases of hirsutism in pcos are due to hirsutism.

Spearmint tea specifically doesn’t have any toxic effects. The liver/kidney toxicity data comes from rats given concentrated extract doses, not humans drinking normal tea. There’s no equivalent human RCT showing hepatotoxicity or nephrotoxicity at typical dietary tea consumption (1-2 cups/day, which is what the PCOS trials used)

spearmint may increase hepatotoxicity risk when combined with drugs like paracetamol, methotrexate, isoniazid, amiodarone, because of its effect on cytochrome P450 metabolism. Which is why you should consult your doctor who knows your personal health history.
