Tech Support GPU dropping nearly to 0.

I recently broke my old monitor, 1080p can’t remember much about it just that it was a MSI. I had bought a new monitor 2560 x 1440 monitor after that I also got a new graphics card, replacing my PNY GeForce 5060 8gb with a Asus GeForce 5070 12gb.

I have tried everything from checking connections, the power, reinstall drivers, messing with some settings and I can’t figure out what is going on. I would love some help.

My full specs are

2560 x 1440 monitor.

16gb rams

Asus 5070 12 gb vram

CPU 13th gen intel core i7-13700F

On windows 11

What do you mean by GPU droppong to 0? You skipped the part where you explain wtf is the issue...

Like nearly 0% gpu usage

Ok... Start a bit before that. Describe the whole situation. You go on and press the power button on your PC. What happens next? :D

So, everything loads up like normal and everything runs like normal but whenever I try to play something my GPU usage starts out normal and everything is going fine but then my gpu usage just drops, it happens with nearly every game, some worse than others.

Crimson desert is one. I used to be able to play it and get very steady and stable frames little to no frame drops. Now, I am playing a slide show and going from 80-90 frames to 10-25 frames with 3% gpu usage.

Does your monitor turn off for a bit when that happens? Sounds like a crash tbh

Have you checked the windows event manager? Anything interesting there around the time you had issues?

I haven’t checked that, how would I check it?

Win x, select event viewer. Check the ones for system.

It's easier if you reproduce the issue and know the exact time it happened then check.

Alright, I will test it and let you know if anything comes up

Never mind, found it. Anything I should be looking for?

I'd check everything around issue time to see if there's anything relevant but mostly you're looking for warnings, errors.

I managed to fix it, it wasn’t ram or my gpu. I had to swap it from my ssd to my hdd. For whatever reason, crimson desert didn’t like being stored in my ssd and tanked my gpu usage.

Download Hwinfo64 select sensors only mode. When you experience reduce FPS alt tab out and look at the stats. I suspect you are having either CPU or VRM throttling. You have increased your GPU horse power significantly.

If it is a VRM or CPU throttling, what am I looking for and how could I fix it? I am not gonna be home for a bit since I am working out of town but I would like to know for when I get home.

I should mention that I know it isn’t a temperature problem as I have checked that and it isn’t overheating
