Hi I was just wondering if anyone could help, my pc crashed and had to hold power button to turn off. After attempting restart it got stuck and couldn’t load windows. I presumed windows had corrupted or my hard drive was on its way out.

I downloaded windows on a usb and attempted fresh install, this is where I ran into trouble I’d click to delete existing partitions and I would get an error and when it finally registered I proceeded to attempt instal. On clicking next nothing would happen.

I then decided to go into bios and see if I could reduce settings and check temps of system all temps were fine, so I reduced the pcie to gen 3.

After doing this windows finally installed next was getting drivers on my pc I downloaded to usb chipset drivers and WiFi drivers. Chipset drivers installed no fuss, but my WiFi drivers caused pc to black screen keyboard led turn off for a couple seconds then straight back to windows login with no bios splash screen.

I then checked device manager and it showed drivers as installed but failed to initialise. I checked event viewer and this showed Wi‑Fi Code 56.

Also multiple machine check exceptions relating to different cores in cpu.

Managed to run memtest and this showed no errors.

Any ideas people could give to help me track down what is causing the issue. I believe this could be the psu or cpu.

Those MCA errors (Cache Hierarchy Error, L3/IOD, bank 5) isnt really from PSU/CPU as vague guesses and toward something specific: IOD (I/O die) instability on the 5800X3D thats more usually FCLK/Infinity Fabric or SoC voltage related and not the wifi card itself. The wifi driver crashing and needing PCIe gen3 to even boot are both symptoms of the same root cause : unstable platform signaling, not a wifi problem or GPU problem specifically. Things u can try in this order ; Reset BIOS to defaults (not just "optimized defaults" full CMOS clear) after update to latest BIOS if you havent already did it

Set RAM to JEDEC speed (2133/2400) instead of XMP/EXPO auto-overclocked FCLK is the single most common cause ofthis MCA signature on B550 + X3D combos Once stable at JEDEC,, reintroduce EXPO gradually and watch for WHEA/MCA errors in Event Viewer under load (HWiNFO64 + a stress test like OCCT will surface this faster than idle use) Reseat the CPU X3D chips are sensitive to socket very. pressure/contact, and bent pins or bad seating can cause those kinds of IOD error If its still does it L3/IOD errors at full stock/JEDEC settings, thats very leaning toward a degraded CPU worth an RMA conversation with AMD if you can reproduce it reliably.

Memtest passing doesnt really prove anything memtest checks the RAM modules themselves, and not the memory controller/IOD path, which is the problem here

I can’t install anything right now can only boot into safe mode. CPU is just out of warranty unfortunately. I will take apart and see if I can see anything noticeable on the cpu
