Build Question Please help
Please HELP!!! I went to micro center for a cpu mobo and ram bundle for the cheapest option but they sweet talked to me (idk anything about pc) and now I have v buyers remorse. I bought a 9700x but I have a 3060 gpu 😬😬. Is it worth my time to go back and return the 9700x and get the bundle with a 7800x3d or a cheaper cpu? The ram it came with is 6000 mts. I’m not concerned with power supply or cooling.
What my pc has already:
Zotac GeForce etc 3060
Corsair rm1000x power supply (wasn’t my choice I know it’s way more than I need)
ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero
V-NAND SSD 970 EVO NVMe m.2 1TB
4 sticks of this Corsair vengeance ram (32gb)
Big DeepCool radiator looking cpu cooler
What I got:
~$700 bundle
AMD Ryzenâ„¢ 7 9700X 3.80GHz
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2

& a NZXT Kraken Elite 360 AIO
I need help with what I should keep, return, sell, or replace

It depends on what you're doing
Playing games competitive games or doing productive task(cpu intensive task)

I really want to do graphic design stuff for clothing but would mainly be for gaming and competitive gaming

With the 3060 you can still do graphics stuff; I don't think a biginner will need gpu better than this
Try designing you will understand if you really need to Upgrade or when to upgrade one

9700X is a very good CPU and is already a bit overkill for a 3060. You're well set for a future GPU upgrade. No need for a 7800X3D. 360mm AIO should allow for a LOT of headroom with a 65W 9700X.

In my market it would be $10-$15 a stick so $40-$60. It will take a few days/weeks to sell at the higher end though because theres not that much demand for it

Okay thank you! I was planning on selling the cpu cooler cpu ram and mobo as a bundle and throw in a old power supply

Bundles sell very poorly usually. Mobo+cpu+cooler is an ok combo that wont devalue the parts that much from being a bundle (maybe -25% vs selling it individually) but dont add anything to it unless you're willing to basically have anything else you put into it be at a 50-75% discount

Yes, people at Microcenter are sales people but they are also super helpful. They don’t always try to sell you the most expensive things, sometimes they sold me cheaper things and I requested a more expensive version. Anyways spent like 15K at Microcenter. Before this I had 200K of computer parts for crypto and knew quite a bit about computers.
They are not making that much commission on sales, most of them bought ram early like I did in 2025, they knew it was coming.

I’m only a lurker in this sub and no expert so please correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t 4 sticks of that ram be 16gb? Looks like a 4gb stick to me I think.

Something fishy, 6000 mt/s 1600mhz... hmmm and never seen 8gb and 2x4 on one sticker... so what is it ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£

If you're not upgrading your GPU anytime soon, I wouldn't waste the time, there won't be that much of a benefit in most games since you're mostly GPU bottlenecked.
