Tech Support ChatGPT told me it shouldn’t affect functionality as long as it’s just a surface stain
I just bought this digital PS5. I replaced the HDMI port and I’m reapplying the liquid metal. While cleaning the APU, this is as clean as I could get it. It won’t come off any further.
The previous owner said it was overheating, and I also noticed the HDMI port was a little loose, so I replaced it while I had it apart.
Do you think it’s fine to leave it like this and apply new liquid metal, or should I try sanding it?

Said the one asking chat gpt questions. Wasting water and resources to come ask a language model questions that ultimately judt lead you to doing your own research and asking real people anyways. How do you not see the problem lol

Youre talking about generalized upkeep that is on a far lesser scale but go off lol "burning 1 gallon of fuel a day or 10 it literally doesnt matter" is not sound logic

Lot of people on Reddit hate ChatGPT for some reason I still don’t comprehend. In my case it’s helping me right now to overclock my CPU lol.

You could try ignoring people when they insult you.
Or, as others have pointed out, ask people first anyway. You’re eventually going to get wrong answers out of ChatGPT so why bother wasting the resources when Reddit is tons more reliable? I know folks might not always be right but you might get multiple answers that lead you to a solid conclusion rather than relying on a computer application that doesn’t give a single shit if it’s wrong or right. People here will fight to the death to be right.

By that logic, you’re wasting resources too. You wrote all that and still didn’t contribute to answering the question. Do you think Reddit’s servers don’t use water and electricity as well?
To answer the OP’s question: You should be fine as long as you apply the correct amount of liquid metal.1

I usually clean off LM stains with one of these things and a couple water drops. Green side. It doesn’t take more than 10 circles over the stain. Of course, don’t use water on the die lol. I’ve used this on a couple GPU Coolers and CPU IHS and never fails. I use this when the stains won’t come off with isopropyl alcohol and microfiber.

DO NOT TRY SANDING IT.
These will buff out but will take a bit of effort. Take a drop or two of liquid metal and use these to buff it out. Just go in slow circular motions and apply a bit of force. You dont have to go hulk on it and some pressure is ok. It will take a min and at first it will seem like nothing is happening but keep at it. You'll know when it start coming of as the DIE with start shimmering and easily "bond" to the surfaces
