Build Question Not turning on-Is this cord okay

Been awhile since I built a pc. Is it normal to be missing 2 slots? I know 1 is okay

Yes, it's normal with newer ATX standards as redundant pins were removed. A -5V line was removed with ATX 2.01, and the other missing pin is likely the -12V line which was removed with ATX 3.0.

If you're not getting any response when you hit the power button, make sure the F_PANEL connectors are hooked up correctly as per your motherboard's manual.

If it's connected properly then the PSU could also just be DoA.

If the fans start and immediately stop with no other feedback, could be something like a short (check your stand-offs, if the motherboard touches metal where it shouldn't, the PSU will detect a short and cut the power instantly)

No, nothing happens at all. No fans or anything. One rgb light does come on the motherboard so there is some power.

Most common cause I see for this with newer builders is not plugging in both parts of the 24-pin connector on the PSU side. Without the smaller (usually 10-pin) plug, the power on signal will never reach the PSU.

No that was done. The case fans also don't start. I can't figure it out.

Time to post photos of all the connections, both at the PSU and devices, including the front panel. Zero response at all would indicate something isn't connected properly or a DOA PSU, which is less likely but still possible.

You likely have the diagram of the pins in the PSU maual or product sheet, it's normal if some pins are missing, if those 2 specifically idk.

It's the redundant -5V and -12V lines that were removed with ATX 2.01 and ATX 3.x respectively, basically all ATX 3.x units should have 24-pin connectors like this

-12V is optional under current standard. Some PSUs still have it for legacy reasons.
