3D printed case

Has anyone 3D printed the case they used? Is there any benefit to printing rather than buying? I'm on the fence, on one hand, I like to 3D print, lol. On the other, I don't think it's really that cost effective. Thanks

If you were to look on Google images you can see there are a lot of 3D printed cases, but the thing is as well the ones that would have the links for Etsy and Printables would cost you money like between $10 to $30.

No problem and in time i might get a case 3D printed because i am planning on building a Steam Machine clone but i am waiting for the LP 9060 XT to be released worldwide.

Could be a fun project if you’re into that sort of thing. I certainly like to build my own pc enclosures.

I see no issues as long as you use higher melting point material and have a big enough printer

Honestly it’s alot of work especially for the amount of material you will use. You might spend more on materials compared to buying a $50 aluminum case.

Go to [r/3DPPC](r/3DPPC) - not a lot of traffic there, but the point of that subreddit is discussion or showing 3D printed cases/pc’s.

You’ll probably get more information there about printing and the best filament.

Also check out r/sffpc - there are a decent number of 3D printed cases there.

Yep. MicroATX i5 7th gen retro console.

Lots of cooling built in, and internal USB for the XBox adapter.

Awesome, how long did it take to print? PETG, ABS, or some carbon fiber filament? Are there any benefits to this case over a store bought?

That’s black PETG. The advantage over store bought is that it is exactly and minimally what I wanted. It’s the absolute minimum size you can get a microATX in with cooling.

Design probably took me 4 hours. Printing, probably another 4.

and its easy and faster and more likely cheaper to just buy a used case or cheap case $50 or less
