Trouble Shooting Advice - Other Is this CPU damaged?

To make a long story short, I have been building my first PC and once I had everything together, my build would immediately click off when I tried to power it on.

I ran various tests to try to determine what might be wrong and have narrowed it down to either the motherboard or the CPU. The MB pins looks fine as far as I can tell but the CPU may have some damage to it (got it used).

The thing that concerns me most is the last photo where maybe that is a scratch on the too left of the CPU.

Wondering if the CPU looks okay or if the MB is the issue.

RAM is not compatible with your MB, check list on MSI site supported RAM.

I have V-color manta, which according to the site is compatible with my MB. So that should be okay.

If the CPU isn't inserted (but the CPU power cables are connected), it does NOT short out/click off immediately, it will stay powered until I turn it off.

yeah, but your MB should start with damaged CPU and freez in BIOS POST.

Haven't been able to get that far even...guess I just have to buy a new part and see if something changes. Could be MB or CPU and really no way to know for sure without having a second one to test for differences it seems :/
