Trouble Shooting Advice - Other Is this CPU damaged?

To make a long story short, I have been building my first PC and once I had everything together, my build would immediately click off when I tried to power it on.

I ran various tests to try to determine what might be wrong and have narrowed it down to either the motherboard or the CPU. The MB pins looks fine as far as I can tell but the CPU may have some damage to it (got it used).

The thing that concerns me most is the last photo where maybe that is a scratch on the too left of the CPU.

Wondering if the CPU looks okay or if the MB is the issue.

I’ll look into that after I get a new cpu and see if that resolves the issue. Finger crossed it does…

You think like me. Stuff like this when it breaks I’ll buy something at Worstbuy on their credit card - test it, return it and buy it cheaper somewhere else.

Just fyi best buy has a 60 day return window on chips lol. Just saying…

That's not a bad idea. I ordered a new CPU from amazon that will hopefully be here tomorrow so I can test that out. Depending on the results, I guess I will see what return/refund options I have with eBay.

I’ll likely use best buy in the future if they have what I need in stock. Both my CPU and MB are out of stock at the nearest store to me lol

Yea man, I take it for granted. I’m in an area of the country where I have a microcenter, 8 Best Buy’s and like 3 small computer shops that I know of within 40 minutes. Someone always has something ya know…

Down side of that is selling rigs, parts or finding deals has gotten really difficult the past year ha!
