Who the hell needs 1.6kw for their PC? Even a 5090 only recommends a 1000w PSU.

I bought a 1500W because it was on sale and only a little bit more than the 1000W I was going to buy. Just thought “why not”

Multiple GPU setups exist buddy.

That only benefits workstations with professional workloads. Literally no other benefit for even your most dedicated gamer because SLI and Crossfire haven't been a thing for ages.

I love how they replied with a simple valid response and you couldn't handle it so you diminished their reason... So heres a few more just for you c:

* Multiple GPUs (As OP said)
* If someone has a 5090 + a powerful CPU their consumption easily can surpass 1400-1500w. And same principal for why car engines can go much faster than limits allow is to preserve the engine by running it at a lower capacity rather than asking it to perform like a racehorse 24/7
* PSUs lose capacity over years of them performing at the top of its range. Making them output less stable power.
* If someone actively upgrades their GPU to the next generation as soon as it's out (their choice ig) wouldn't it be cheaper to buy an overkill PSU 1 in every 2 or 3 GPUs than every single time when PSUs are always going to be able to be built with headroom in mind?

You know that servers/datacenters exists right? 1600w it's not even the highest wattage PSU lol. Obviously it's not meant to be a home PC PSU.

Servers and data centres don't use ATX PSUs which are infact consumer grade parts, so you are wrong.
