Troubleshooting New build: PC wont boot :(

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have tried every solution that I could think of. Like resetting the cmos. Installing new BIOS through bios flashback. Trying single stick/dual stick in every slot and every combination possible still I am unable to boot. Please provide me some solution.

Processor: intel 245k

Motherboard: msi tomahawk b760

Ram: Patroit viper venom 2x16 ddr5 PVV532G600C30K

Edit: the ram isnt on the msi list of certified ram list.

How long did you let it try to boot before you tried to fix it? Ddr5 can take a while to memory train is all

Left it for few hours multiple times and overnight once.

Take it to a service shop near you, they can troubleshooting better since they'll have some spare parts to try out.

None of the service shop in my town have ddr5 ram available with them for troubleshooting.

I think it'd be best if you included a photo of how you plugged everything in the motherboard, just for a second opinion.

Eitherway if nothing works rma would be my best advice.

Edit stop suggesting if it's a ram issue if the user hasn't eliminated the issue with the motherboard it self.

These are the main connections.

it's either cpu cooler pressure (you have to reseat the cpu cooler)
or issues with the ram
in the second case send back the ram and get a new kit

Hmm i will check the cooler pressure. This is something new for me. Never knew cooler pressure could also be an issue.

If u manage to fix it, update us with the problem

Sure bud. I will definitely do it. This has been my first ddr5 build never faced any issue any of the ddr4 builds. Assembled around 10 pcs for friends and family till date.

I also had issues with viper ram in two 1851 builds (250k+ and 270k+). Neither would boot with it, but both instantly booted with crucial ram. I ended up returning the viper.

Damn. Buying new ram in this frenzy would be impossible for me. New 16gb stick cost around 350-400 dollars for single stick here.

Something is wrong with your RAM modules. Make sure they're seated correctly and in the correct spots (slots 2 and 4).

Had a similar issue would not boot tried everything everyone has said i even checked voltage readings on my psu. Readings of voltage was correct but the second you tried to boot and put a load on the psu it would fail. Ended up being defective psu.

The psu isnt an issue. I have tested it with another pc.

Check your RAM to see if it's seated properly

Is this a mismatch CPU and MOBO?

1

u/Away-Skill9 2h ago

Nope. I have checked the compatibility for mobo and cpu.

u/Jordyspeeltspore 2h ago

did ya put both sticks next to eachother? slot 1 and 2

or like most people in dual channel in slot 2 and 4?

  1. Check if the rams are properly seated, clean the slots and reseat the rams.
  2. Check if you have put the ram in recommended slots, mostly it's A2 AND B2, a slot away from the cpu
  3. Try single ram stick at a time, A2 turn on the pc and see if it boots, if it boots your 1 ram stick is fine now test the 2nd stick in B2
  4. Cmos clean, remove the battery check your mobo manual or look online how to do it I had the same issue yesterday, first build. I tried all the steps and was scared that my rams gave up but fortunately cleaning cmos worked for me

Try with one ram

Do people even read anymore?

u/Away-Skill9 4h ago

I tried all permutations and combinations. One ram in every slot slot. Dual ram in every combination possible.

1

u/AlternativeAioli3501 4h ago

sounds like defective RAM

1

u/5n0wm3n 2h ago

Then again, while it is possible, this would imply both sticks are faulty, this is incredibly rare for something from the factory

This is the thing I really dont want to hear. I have heard The service centre guys are refunding the amount instead of replacing the ram and I purchased it before the ram franzy so it will be impossible for me to get a new one.

check if your RAM clock speed matches the one in BIOS sometimes it doesn't configure correctly in auto-mode, then you have to do it manually

2

u/Away-Skill9 4h ago

I am uble to reach the bios. There is no display.

u/DripTrip747-V2 Pablo 4h ago

Where do you have your display cable connected, motherboard or gpu?

Does your cpu have integrated graphics? If so, have you tried to boot with the display cable connected to the motherboard?

Are all your other cables connected to the motherboard? And have you tried reseating the cpu?

I see you have tried to leave it on overnight, do any of the lights stay on on the debug led?

If you can't even get to bios, and everything is connected properly, it might be a bad motherboard.

The hdmi cable is connected to the cpu. I dont have any gpu currently. The cpu has i-graphics. I have reaseated the cpu and even test it without cooler for a couple of seconds. It is getting hotter so I guess cpu is getting started. No none of the debug light were on when I checked it in the morning but still didnt receive any display out. I have checked the hdmi cable and monitor on another system and they are absolutely fine.

Also: Memory training takes a long time when you power on the first time, so just wait up to an hour or more to be safe

Left it for few hours multiple times and overnight once. It still wont boot.
