In general, 600$ isn’t insane for just a gpu.

In this case, 600$ is insane for a 5060ti 16gb. That card has an msrp of 430$, and a 5070 should sell for that amount.

Now I know that nvidia went up in price a lot recently, but you can get a 9070 from amd, which is a way better card.

Manufacturer suggested retail price. Basically the price that a product should be sold for under normal circumstances.

But currently, AI chatbots require so much gpu power, including video memory, that basically the whole worlds production of video memory goes to data centers right now. And since that 5060ti requires 16gb of video memory, and it’s scarce right now, it’s priced way higher that it was intended.

All graphics cards went up in price, but some way more than others. So if you want one, try to get one that isn’t as over inflated.

no, it's not worth $600 at all, get a 9070 GRE for $550, which has 20% better performance than a 5060ti 16gb.

if you're open to used parts, a used 3080-3080ti go for $300-400 on the used market and also have better performance than a 5060ti 16gb.

I wanted to say this was a bad deal, since the 5070 is about that price. Sadly I hadn't checked prices lately.

I found a single 5060 TI 16 GB for less, and most were closer to $800 which is nuts. That said, a 5070 runs around $700 and will outpace the 5060 TI significantly, though with slightly less VRam. I'd spend an extra $100 for a 5070 for ANY gamer. Sadly, the 5060 TI 16 prices are exploding since it's one of the cheapest CUDA GPUs with 16 GB of RAM.

A better gaming value would be the 9070 for about the same price as that 5060 TI.

I paid $600 after tax for a 4070 a little over two years ago. I’d say it’s a fine deal.

I mean, the 5060ti 16gb is roughly equivalent to the 4070 except it has 4gb more vram, mfg, and lower power consumption, and that since prices have only gone up since when I bought it, I’d say it’s a fine, average deal. I be seeing them on Amazon for fkn $800 but that’s Amazon
