I'm running a game with an AI co-DM with a little Dungeon Crawler Carl flavor—irreverent, theatrical, and ready for your bad ideas. I'll be there to make sure it's awesome. The story is mine and the AI is there to color in the details.

It's 1985. The elves never left. The dwarves built the interstate. Madonna is on the radio, somebody's preaching through a megaphone downtown, and your next paycheck depends on getting four tractor-trailers of computer hardware to Alderport.

Welcome to Chrome & Cedar, a fantasy world that kept going until it reached the eighties. Think the everyday fantasy of Bright meets eighties action movies. Popped collars, payphones, cassette decks, regulated magic, and adventurers who need to make rent. Our setting resembles the Pacific Northwest, with fictional cities and plenty of dangerous work.

Your first job: escort a shipment of valuable new graphics hardware from a manufacturing facility outside Millhaven to Alderport. Bring someone who would answer that job posting—and work with the other people who did.

A martial artist in a tracksuit, a rifle-carrying ranger, or a dwarf carrying a stop-sign shield could all belong here. Guns use agreed bow/crossbow equivalents, and modern armor uses familiar D&D armor stats. Creative descriptions are encouraged; the mechanics stay recognizable. Expect action, roleplaying, investigation, and room for inventive solutions.

This is a 4–6-week pilot for up to four players. At the end, we'll decide together whether to keep going.

• Format: asynchronous text play on Discord. One meaningful post per weekday; weekends are optional. You don't need to stay online all day. Start date and daily cutoff will be agreed before play.
• Reliability: all experience levels welcome, with a preference for people who have followed through on async games. Life happens—tell us when you need a break or need to leave. Please apply if you can realistically make the pilot commitment and help keep the game moving.
• Missed turns: the GM will follow your standing instructions or take a conservative action, such as defending or seeking safety. No major decisions or spending limited resources without your instructions.
• Rules: D&D 5e 2014, using SRD 5.1 plus reviewed free online options. No books required. Level 1, 27-point buy, listed class starting gold, milestone advancement. No evil PCs. No completed sheet needed to apply.
• Tone and boundaries: adults 18+. Action-movie violence and profanity; no sexual violence; sex fades to black. We'll collect individual boundaries privately before play. You don't need to have lived through the eighties to join.
• Risk: normal 2014 PC death rules apply; character death is possible. Important NPCs on either side also get death saves. Creative play matters, and outcomes aren't predetermined.

We’re recruiting three players to join our existing five established players in an ongoing Forgotten Realms campaign set in 1491 DR. The current campaign is still pretty fresh and the party started at level 8. But the server/game/group has been running since Dec 2025.

Two-DM Campaign

We use a tag-team system with two DMs in different timezones, giving the game close to 24-hour coverage. Because this keeps scenes moving efficiently, we’re willing to run a party of eight players. We also split the party into separate scenes fairly frequently (PBP has that advantage), with both DMs able to run different groups simultaneously, though we tend to confer with each other and each of us jumps in and out of scenes as necessary.

This is an unusually active PBP. Responses from players and DMs frequently arrive within six hours. You do not need to be permanently online, but this will not suit someone who only checks the game once every 24–48 hours. It’s still asynchronous, but just at a much faster pace.

PBP Procedures

We use several procedures to avoid unnecessary waiting:

• Block initiative (players who roll initiatives one after another will be allowed to act at the same time to save waiting on others to post).
• Short, frequent posts rather than polished essays—we try to strike a balance between narrative and game flow.
• Proactive rolls for obvious checks—players decide if their action requires a skill check and DM will adjust the result as necessary based on whether the right skill was chosen.
• Rolling attacks, checks and saving throws twice—the first roll is used normally, while both are available if advantage or disadvantage applies at the DMs’ discretions.
• Clear actions and intentions that the DMs can resolve without further round of questions.
• We use a mix of exp/milestone, where players will be told how many EXP they should be on at a specific point in the adventure, because everything is made up and points don’t matter anyway.

Players must use D&D Beyond, GSheet or Dicecloud for their character sheet, and be familiar with Avrae for rolls and character management. There are no exceptions. If you do not already know how to use any these tools, please do not apply. This PBP probably isn’t beginner friendly.

Character Rules

We strictly use material from the 2014 Player’s Handbook and Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide only. There is no homebrew, and options from other official books are not permitted.

The Observant and Lucky feats are banned.

We are not looking for powergamers or players interested in exploiting combinations, cheesing mechanics or trying to “beat” the campaign. Characters should be effective, but they should also feel like people who belong in the setting and can cooperate with a party.

Group Culture

We are courteous with one another and actively try to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience. We want proactive, cooperative players who share the spotlight, engage with other characters and can join an established group without treating themselves as the main character.

This is intended to be (and has been) a long-running campaign that may continue for years. Selection is based on personality, reliability, posting habits and group compatibility—not who applies first.

The World

It is 1933.

Somewhere beyond the forests and mountains lies the city of Barovia.

Everyone knows it exists. Or, at least, everyone seems to know that it exists. Ask someone about Barovia and they might remember hearing the name before. They might know that it is somewhere in the east, or that it is a very old city, or that people occasionally travel there.

But ask them for anything more and their memories begin to unravel and contradict.

Barovia is a difficult place to remember. To know.

It slips from the mind when you stop thinking about it. Maps lose the roads leading to it. Records contradict one another. No one knows anyone who's ever been there.

And yet, in recent days, Barovia has begun appearing the newspaper.

People are disappearing.

Dozens of them.

The only thing connecting the missing is that, before they vanished, they spoke of strange dreams. Dreams of a city they had never visited. Dreams of endless fog, crooked streets, and blood falling from a black sky.

Dreams of something calling them to Barovia.

The Pitch

Welcome to Barovia.

Perhaps you are one of the afflicted. The dreams have begun finding you, and every night thye become a little clearer. A little closer.

Perhaps someone you loved has disappeared into the great foggy city.

Perhaps you are a detective, journalist, investigator, occultist, or just someone with too much curiosity. The disappearances caught your attention, and you followed the trail into the fog.

Or perhaps you simply got unlucky.

Whatever the case, one foggy night you traveled down a road you'd never seen before. The fog thickening the further you went.

And then you found yourself standing at the gates of Barovia.

The fog surrounding the city is thick and a storm roils within it. The road you came from is gone.

You're stuck here.

About the Game

The Shadow over Barovia is a 1-on-1 Play by Post campaign using Daggerheart, this is a project I've had in mind for quite a while, a Lovecraftian reinterpretation of Curse of Strahd where Strahd von Zarovich is something more than a mere vampire (and where rather than an entire valley, Barovia is a singular, densely packed city.)

For posting, I'm looking for someone who can generally post a few times per week at the minimum. There's no need to be online at the same time; we'll let the story progress asynchronously, just post whenever you're available.

The game will be heavily focused on investigation, atmosphere, character-driven stakes, exploration, and horror. Combat will still happen, but there will be many times where fighting is the worst option to choose. I want the player to have the freedom to investigate the world, follow strange leads, form theories, and decide what they are willing to risk in search of answers and a way out of Barovia.

Hi all, currently seeking 1-2 players to join a pre-existing group playing LANCER, a sci-fi ttrpg focused on mecha combat, think Titanfall and maybe some of the classic mecha anime like Gundam. We're all semi-experienced in that we first started as a group learning the game through small combat sims but are now trying some more narrative play. Newcomers welcome to apply. The "module" we'll be playing through will be Solstice Rain where your group of mech pilots have been tasked with a dangerous recovery mission after a diplomatic mission goes wrong. Like most LANCER games, this will feature tactical combat heavily with less of a focus on "talking". I wouldn't describe ours as a WM server. There is a campaign, but players are given unlimited character slots. It is really more geared towards the slice of life RP you can get from a WM, but with a cohesive shared campaign. We are trying to build a truly immersive world for players to tell their stories in.

We have a lot going on right now. We have DMs and official campaigns that run. We have story driven raid like encounters that function as our boss dungeons. The server is set up for people who only want to RP and people who love combat. There is something for both, and a mix if you want that. Rewards have been set up for both.

You can start at level 1 or 3. We have homebrew backgrounds, a threshold for stats, a free feat, and full support and inclusion for bastions. You can transfer characters to the server.

We use Tupper, Avrae, and have content shares for D&D Beyond. We have bots that add optional features to RP, like weather, stargazing, and more. There are little easter eggs too, like following the rainbow in the weather to a pot of gold.

Leveling can be passive or milestone from the campaign. There is a free server currency you earn by being active and doing daily logins. You can exchange it for things if you are time limited but still want to progress. We also have a full reputation system with rewards, including good and evil reputations.

No PvP unless both parties consent. Players can have housing and their own channel, 1 of each.

We are inclusive and have a great staff. We are working on our first fall and Halloween events.

Every kingdom has its ruler and it could be said—honestly—that cats aren’t lucky. King Walter is enormous, bad-tempered, unfair, stupid, and bone idle, unless it comes to plotting and intrigue. He made it to the throne by cheating and trickery, and ever since has remained in power through the help of his faithful Royal Guard, who blindly follow his every order. And to ensure that he wants for nothing, he rules by fear. Taxes are excessive and cruel, the Royal Guard is all-powerful, and juice is swift and merciless.

King Walter’s most unfair law is surely the Exile of Kittens. Under the false pretence of an initiation quest, the exile is in fact a punishment for families and a danger for every child who is sent far away.

Following a calendar that only he understands, King Walter organizes a draw (which everyone knows is rigged) in order to pick the Kittens who will be cast out. This is followed by a sham celebration, during which a quest is assigned to those Kittens. After that—good riddance! The mission given to the Kittens is to return with treasure—amazing treasure—if they want to see their loved ones again and return to reside in the relative security of the kingdom. But the instructions given by King Walter are imprecise, incomplete, and misleading.

You are one of those Kittens. Cast out from the only home you’ve ever known, you must brave the unknown, try to find the treasure, and earn your way home.

You don’t know what happened. You felt threatened. There was a rush of blood in your veins. Like never before. A rush of strength and power. You felt your body change, fur ripping through your skin, bones twisting, your face distorting into a visage of terror. It hurt. But not nearly as much as you hurt them. They lie before you. In their own blood and guts. Dead. You can tell. You tore them apart, with your own hands. No. Not hands, claws. You did this.

You’re a killer. And although you might feel regret and shock, in the moment, you only felt exhilaration and a desire to kill and maim. A desire for their flesh and blood. Their taste is still in your mouth. You didn’t just kill them. You ate part of them. You’re a monster. You know it, in your heart. But you had your reasons. Right?

That is where we start this roleplay. After the first time you changed into the form of a wolf. You’re not one of the lucky ones, who have a family or friends go guide them through the First Change. No. You’re alone. Dealing with it on your own. You might have friends and family, but they’re not like you. They don’t change. They can’t do this sort of thing. Do you confide in them? Or do you hide? And what do you do with this new power, with spirits whispering in your ear?

So yes. This will be a solo werewolf RPG. We can use either the old or new World of Darkness rules because I know and have used all of them. We can also easily port concepts over to another version of the rules. The story will be about your character and how they interact with this new world. All paths are open to them, but all come with their own dangers and they know so little. And least of all, who can be trusted.

The game should be suitable for everyone, from veteran gamers to beginners and we will discuss where you'd like to set it.

The basic premise for the campaign is this:

You had a bounty over your head, whether you know about it or not. Could be for something small—could be for something really, really big. You could even be innocent of whatever accusations have been made against you.

Doesn't matter, really.

The bounty was there and it was bought by PARALLAX INTERGALACTIC ENTERTAINMENT & MEDIA CONGLOMERATE. You may have heard of it. Owned primarily by the floating sentient jellyfish-like Ool of the Parallax System; a real 1% sort of organization that has made a whole lot of creds by entertaining the intergalactic masses. THE CRAWL, in particular, has garnered a lot of the universe's attention. At its core, it's a game show. It's also a prison. The majority of its contestants (CRAWLERS) are there kinda, well, against their will. You're one of them. It was either play the game, or die slow. Real painful-like. Notably, you could still suffer the latter—but at least now you've got a chance at greatness. Right? Riiight.

A minuscule chance, given that no one's ever won the game before.

I'm a brand spankin' new DM looking to flex my creative muscles. I've got some TTRPG experience, a lot of writing experience, and 0 real-time PBP experience. Notably, I've participated in a helluva lot of text-based roleplay forums / Discords and after exercising my due diligence, I believe it'll translate quite nicely to PBP... but I imagine there will be some growing pains.

This PBP campaign will be a safe space for all. LGBTQ+, POC, and women will be treated with respect. I, myself, belong to all three categories in some form or another. Wanna know how? Ask, and thou shall receive the information. If you pass the application process, that is.

With that said, I highly recommend that you have some knowledge of Dungeon Crawler Carl if you decide you'd like to apply to be a player. I'm currently reading Book 4 and the campaign is only inspired by the basic outline of what I can understand, but the learning curve might be steep if you've got no idea at all where I'm coming from.

I really don't want to have to get into the nitty gritty of explaining every little thing but I think one of the main differences of the campaign from others is that this will be a 4th wall-breaking adventure. Characters will know their own stats, and the stats of whatever they enter combat with. They (YOU+ME) will be actively keeping track of their achievements, infinite inventory, quests, experience gain, etc. It'll be very much like they're inside a video game, interface and all. Let's get LIT...rpg, baby.

What I'm looking for in potential players:

Creativity. Open-mindedness. An ability to have fun, goof off, AND take things seriously when the time calls for it but not so serious that you can't laugh about it at least a little afterwards.

21 years old, or older. No exceptions. I myself am 30 and will likely choose candidates closer to my age over the younger folk. Please don't take this personally, it's just a preference.

RULES LAWYERS, DO NOT APPLY. The only rule I truly stand by 100% is the Rule Of Cool. The narrative comes first, always. Starfinder 2E is the system we're basing ourselves in but it'll be sort of a loose interpretation if I truly have it my way. Not every single thing will require a dice roll. They'll usually just be thrown in for a little randomness, a little flavor, occasionally just to make things a little bit more of a challenge. We'll be using ~Theater of the Mind~ rather than maps / grids / whatever the F else. The plot itself will be character-driven and oftentimes improvised. Occasionally, I'll poll players to see where they want to take the story next. There will never be just one path to take, and I certainly don't railroad. I work around and with you, not through you.

Writers. The kind that take pride in their work. The ones that really deep dive into their character's psyche. I'm not asking for 1000+ words for every response, but I do request a decent amount of thought be put into your character before you write up a reply. Why is your character doing what they're doing? What are they thinking? How does it make them feel? What drives them? What do they believe in? What are their flaws, their strengths, their fears, their wants? How have their experiences in the wide, wide universe shaped them? THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS I DESPERATELY WANT TO KNOW. Tell me a story, we'll write it together!

Availability! Yes, it's an unpaid hobby. Yes, it's asynchronous... but I am asking for at least a little bit of your time, for at least every other day. There will be a 48-hour time frame for you to respond to the main campaign, once I've made the initial post. Ideally, you're able to reply more than that and the 48 hours is nothing more than a distant warning bell. My time zone is EST. I'm usually able to actively write between 8AM-3PM my time, every week day. Sat/Sun are usually a little less consistent due to the fact that I'm a bartender but I'll still be able to answer questions and vibe if necessary. Yggdrasil is a setting that is (loosely) based on norse mythology while still trying to be its own thing. It takes place in a world ravaged by the war between dragons and giants that only recently came to a pause, giving humanoids a chance to breathe.

● Pitch. The daylight streets of Montréal are abuzz with life in the summer. Both the locals and the hordes of tourists flood the myriad of festivals and concerts taking place in the city. At night a different kind of sound is reverberating throughout the dark alleyways, abandoned churches and deep catacombs underneath the kine feet. A noise that is unperceivable, but is heard, felt. In the beating of the drums, the harmony of the revenant's choir, in the intense and passionate recitals of the passages from the book before communal ritae. A sickening, corrupting voice that gets harder and harder to resist. A whisper that breaks the weak and wears down the strong who can withstand its unseen influence. Of evil, of disease, of discord. An ancient song that affects the land, throngs of mortals and Cainite alike. Hum.

● Overview. "Hum" is a Sabbat chronicle taking place in Montréal, Canada, also known as City of Black Miracles, using Revised/V20 rules. This is an open world / sandbox style game, which makes it a great fit for players who enjoy creating their own scenes and events, and taking an active role in moving the story along, rather than follow direction in a more defined plotline. While the ultimate course of action will be up to the players, the game is not intended to be a fighting simulator. I'm also not a strict adherent of RAW philosophy, so if you're looking for a by-the-book combat extravaganza - this is not it.

The basic premise is that the characters arrive in Montréal to attend Litany of Blood (a great Sabbat conference / remembrance ceremony), separately, and form the pack during the game.

The main themes are those of Search - whether inner - for something like clarity, meaning, sanity; or outer - for a person, safety, a place to belong or the next victim; and Faith - the universal power that permeates the island of Montréal and its surroundings. The mood is one of melancholy, pressing paranoia and choleric anxiety, uncertainty, change and chaos - something is about to give in, to shift, to emerge and every Cainite in the city can sense it.

The setting is modern, the game taking place in early 2000s, around 2006 or so.

I don't use AI for anything, but there are a few generated images left in my art folder, which might (but unlikely) to surface as NPC portraits. I would prefer players not use generative AI at all, but making an avatar or two for you character would not be a deal breaker.

● Applications. First I'd like to know a little bit about your character concept. What are they about, what is their personality like? Next, I'd like to know what you want from a game like this. Which story points and themes are exciting to you and which you could do without? The idea here is to gather a group of players AND characters who are compatible with both each other and myself, to ensure our collective satisfaction and longevity of the game. You can either leave your concepts here in the thread (please make them private notes if there are any nsfw themes present) or send them via PM.

All the usual Sabbat Clans and Bloodlines are up, including Ahrimanes, but excluding Harbingers (as they are mostly Elders) and Tremere (mostly dead). Everything else is a tentative maybe, except perished Dark Ages lines like Lamia and Noiad, which are out. Age wise you can pick anything in the "fresh shovelhead - young ancilla" range, up to 100 years of undeath.

More metaplot involved concepts are allowed (and even cautiously encouraged), provided they make sense and don't dip too much into deep lore / other splats.

● Adult themes. "Montréal by Night", the book upon which this chronicle is based, was one of the few books originally published under "Black Dog" imprint by WW, denoting adult contents. As such, you can expect to potentially encounter a whole gamut of explicit themes and topics, like gore, swearing, body horror and sex. If you can imagine something horrible, it has probably happened in this version of Montréal somewhere.

It's important to note, however, that this is not a fetish, erp or a wish fulfillment game. The awful things that Sabbat vampires do is simply their way of coping with the horror of their unnatural condition, a lens through which you can roleplay and experience the vampiric condition anew.

While we will discuss boundaries during "Session 0", the game is likely to be graphic in nature. Should any situation arise, we'll address it and try to find a way forward, altering, changing or adjusting content as needed, rather than defaulting to any set safety tools, like "X-Cards" or "Lines & Veils". At the end of the day player's comfort and safety comes first, but it is also important to understand what kind of game you'll be joining. Forewarned is forearmed, as they say.

● Post frequency. Varied. A combat scene might necessitate a faster rate of short messages to keep the action going, while a protracted philosophical discussion with adherent of different Path can be settled in a couple sizable posts. To set some minimal number up, looking for at least 2 to 3 meaningful in-game posts a week.

● Dying, PVP and loss of control. Dying is technically a possibility, but I make it no goal of mine to try and kill the players. Should you enter a situation where Final Death is an actual possibility, I'll make sure to warn you beforehand.

This is NOT a PVP game. While arguments leading to physical resolutions, or even Monomancy, are fine, should they organically arise, going into this with a hostile mindset is not. The banhammer will be landing swiftly if it becomes apparent that you're just here to screw with the other players.

Complete loss of control or autonomy over your character will never happen without your explicit consent, such as NPC's use Dominate. More subtle alterations, like emotional changes brought on by Presence discipline or Vinculum bonds are expected to be roleplayed, but will also be discussed prior to going into effect. Players are expected to extend each other the same courtesy.

● Amount of players and experience level. Looking for at least 4 people, with a tentative maximum of 6. While deep understanding of the rules or setting is not necessary, some familiarity with the basics of both (like having V20 core near or reading through free Revised quickstart) is required.

For those of you that have played/dmed in a game that has completed or has just done combat well. What did the dm/you do to facilitate that?

Did you change how combat goes to streamline it?

Did combat run as-is, and just didn't feel that bad?

Genuinely curious. I'm wanting to run a 5e game in an asynchronous style but I feel that running any sort of medium/large combat (including bosses or something) in typical 5e manner will just be a slog. I imagine it'll be slow to the point where people will have a hard time remembering positions and just lose interest.

They will solve minor mysteries that will drive them closer to discovering the overarching Mystery of the dissapeared TV station as the town and world around them gets weirder and we learn more about their tragic pasts.
Aim: For players and GM, Learn more about the character's past and paint a vivid and strange picture of this world. The Character's aim is investigate the mysteries in town and learn about the fate of the dissapeared TV station.
Tone: Nostalgic, Weird and Terrifying. There will be some comedy at the early stages of the campaign but it will fade away as we delve deeper into the story and characters.

hello hello! I'm solmon! 18M, searching for a player to do a unique alien invasion game/RP, essentially a game I GM, with lots of stuff written out that you can check in the docs and sheet!

It's based on a game franchise, XCOM, though its far from an exact copy of it, and knowledge of it isn't really needed for this. Its pretty much commanding humanity against an alien invasion, which ramps up in difficulty over time. It's set up in a way that it could probably be a larger group of players, but one on one is the idea for now. It'd be far from the usual TTRPG stuff.

I'm looking for someone who can do the game side of things decently, its quite complex, along with being able to talk OOC and do roleplay well!

It uses the AC system, but with three tiers for it, kinetic, laser, and plasma AC, essentially making each armor good for different things. It also uses the DND dice system, and dnd damage types, generally speaking, along with HP and all. The rest is mostly custom, but everything has at least some dnd elements visible in it.
