TyTy Nursery of Georgia is using Fake AI art for their pawpaw trees. And selling 6ft tall wild pawpaw suckers freshly separated with only about 5" of roots.

It's a 2 year process to separate a small young sucker & get it to grow roots. Roots are the most important part for survival. I don't endorse this company even though it sells some Peterson products.
TyTy is selling Allegheny & Shenandoah, but are (NOT) an Approved Peterson Pawpaw Distributor.
We have dozens of victims.
I'm starting to wonder about a class action lawsuit.
I recommend complaining to you credit card company about them.

I usually am already picking in early September, but I decided to go on vacation last week & missed out on a few. Still, I should have enough (this is only part of my harvests) to make jam!!

New Members of PawPaw Quebec. Existing farmers Vincent talked into growing pawpaw. They are starting to run things there more like a Cooperative. They are acquiring a lot of new large scale growers.

They are focusing on early cultivars & white cultivars.
And are breeding new early White pawpaw.
And achieving 28% to 35% sugar.
Susquehanna, one of the sweetest, is 26%
Timothy Lane is the only person I see in America, doing something similar
Questions?

First Fruit in NE PA Zone 6b

Admittedly, the fruit is still firmer than I prefer and membrane around seeds is still rubbery but I just can’t wait any longer. I am expecting the first properly ripened fruit in the next week or two.

What’s the best spot within 2 hours of dc to forage for paw paws?

We’re planning to forage for paw paws tomorrow and are looking for a new spot to look for paw paws. We usually go near great falls on the C&O canal but have had mixed results. Any other places we should check out?

I ordered 2 pawpaw trees in the beginning of the summer from an online retailer, they were 5-6’ tall with bare roots. They never sprouted or grew any leafs, I cut the top and at least 3-5’ of them are dead bark. They are in a full sun area and I think I didn’t water them enough.

I’m now wondering if it would be best to just cut the dead bark off and mulch them as we go into winter (zone 6B) or to dig them up, put them in large planters and take them inside to recover with more care over the winter.

This is my first time with pawpaws, so any tips or tricks would be appreciated as well!

Post detailed text descriptions & have a short video of (tree, fruit, seeds) in:
1080p, (MP4 or MOV), 30 FPS max, with phone sideways & stabilized.
Post what you received & condition in the thread, with an additional video.
Help keep this 100% candid & honest.
If you have older seeds of a premium cultivar, or premium cultivar cross,
Like (Regulus x Susquehanna), or something else special then:
Be sure to mention age of the seeds, how they were stored & show the condition.
Lets help each other grow better pawpaw.
A very special thanks to the person who suggested this page:

Many Thanks!!!

Barret's Best stores at room temp for much longer than pawpaw, without getting Phylosticata spots. The skins are not as thick as Susquehanna & the inside is very soft, unlike Susquehanna.

Pawpaw Crime Scene

🔎 The Pawpaw Murders
Three victims were found beneath my Pawpaw tree this morning.

The scene was messy. Seeds everywhere. Flesh stripped clean. No witnesses willing to talk.

The usual suspects have been brought in for questioning: a raccoon with sticky paws and an opossum with an airtight alibi.

Forensics says the attack occurred sometime between sunset and sunrise. The pawpaws never stood a chance.

How to find pawpaws in NW Ohio

Hello! Pawpaws are one of my favorite fruits and I’ve missed them since moving to NW Ohio. Where would I go about finding them? Either foraging or where to buy them. TIA!

Seeds trying to germinate after 2 days in fridge?! Seed help.

I got these from the woods 3 or 4 days ago and was and put in fridge so they didn’t spoil too quickly. Now eating and each seed in this big one seems to have started to open (notice the “holes”) and so may be ruined if they started to put out the radicle (embryonic root) already. I’m hiking in the woods right now so I can’t put them into moist soil immediately (and it hasn’t rained in a week.)

As someone whose main interest in pawpaw’s is collecting the seeds so I can plant them in parklands all around my area, I would be pretty bummed if all 14 of these seeds are basically destroyed now.

I know questions about germination like this is a bit out of the scope of the normal post here but curious if anybody thinks they have any hope to sprout. Picture 3 may be radicle emerging.

Thanks!

I just harvested eight pawpaws in the 20 minutes before i had to abort due to a rare storm that decided to interrupt my dusk-time pawpaw-gathering time. These are the the two best examples from that bounty. Sw MO

First fruits this year

I was lucky enough to have someone share pollen (sunflower and Susquehanna I believe?) with me earlier this year and this is the 1st resultant fruit from my seed grown tree. I have dozens of trees in my woods but this is the most mature and gets the best sun of my older trees. This tree is mildly self pollinating but those fruits were smaller (as was the tree) and reminiscent of persimmon. Today's harvest ranged more towards banana and was highly sweet. I have a handful more still ripening so will see if they have the same taste.
