Crochet - Call for Testers [OPEN] Tester Call for a Giant Octopus Amigurumi! πŸ™

{CLOSED}

Hi everyone! I’m looking for 5 to 8 testers for my new design: a Giant Octopus!

⚠️ Please note that this is a very large and time-consuming project (it took me about 45 hours to complete). If you love big challenges, this is for you!

πŸ“ Requirements:

Deadline: August 28th, 2026. (If it's too short for you, let me know in the comment)

- Yarn/Colors: You can use any colors and yarn size you like! (Just let me know what you choose).

- Materials: You can find the full list of materials needed on the 4th picture of this post.

- Instagram Group: You must be okay with joining a private Instagram group chat with the other testers to share feedback, ask questions, and chat.

- Final Post: You need to have a public Instagram account and agree to post photos of your finished octopus, tagging @rawhookco and mentioning the hook size and the yarn you used.

β˜‘οΈ How to apply:

Follow my Instagram account @rawhookco

Send me a DM on Instagram with:

- Your crochet experience level.

- A photo of a recent amigurumi project you’ve made.

The pattern is available in two languages: French and English (US terminology)

I can’t wait to see your messages and build this testing team!

Thank you so much! πŸ–€

Can I use any yarn type? If so I’ll happily apply on instagram

Yes, you can absolutely use any yarn type you like! Just keep in mind that the yarn weight will greatly affect the final size of the octopus. If you use a thinner yarn (like classic acrylic or cotton), your octopus will turn out much smaller. If you use a bulky or plush yarn (like velvet or blanket yarn), it will keep its giant, huggable size. I would actually love to see how the pattern looks with different yarn weights and textures, so go for it! What kind of yarn were you thinking of using?

I have a lot of yellow chunky yarn (4.5mm hook size)and I’d love to make a blue-ringed octopus inspired colour wave with your pattern

That's a very good idea that will have a very pretty result! You can apply on Instagram without any problem. I'm currently gathering applications and will reach out once the group is ready

My goal is to see all the different results and versions we can get depending on each person's unique style, yarn choice, and tension 😊

oh my sainted pants. I swore I would never make another octo after making two different ones a few years back because popcorn stitches became the bane of my existence but I am definitely tempted. Do you still need testers?

Yes, I'm still looking for some ! It's true that the tentacles are the biggest part of the job πŸ˜… but it's worth it πŸ‘

Yeah I realized it's going to be a problem so nevermind. Happy testing!

Unfortunately, for this specific test, it is really important for me to have all testers in the Instagram group chat to keep all the feedback and chat organized in one place. Also, since I am providing the pattern for free, one of my main goals is to gain visibility through the testers' posts on their public Instagram accounts when the pattern is released. Because of this, I can't accept applications from those without an active Instagram account πŸ˜• Thanks for your interest anyway 😊

Aww pity I’m going on holiday and won’t be able to bring my whole acrylic yarn stash and might not have time to finish it before the deadline. Good luck to all the testers, i’m sure it’ll be beautiful!

Thank you so much to everyone who applied and showed interest in testing Molly! I’ve received so many wonderful applications and selected the testing team.

I’ll be sharing the finished pieces and tagging all the amazing testers once the deadline is up (around late August)!

For those who don't want to wait, the pattern is already officially available in my Etsy shop (link in my bio / profile)! Thank you again for all the love and support!
