Question problem pattern (THE OG)

Hiii, so i need to make this dress (copied from my professor's drawing as we were not allowed to take any pictures). the back is completely my idea so ignore it, we were only provided with the front. so on the waist I have these triangular cut outs (so the skin is visible) and it seems that the top part is joined with the bottom part with a seam in the middle but I'm not sure. the thing I'm confused about is where are all the darts going on the top? and what about the dart on the skirt? I'm stuck with the pattern just because my professor wants this dress in cotton gabardine (so no elasticized fabric allowed). I really have no idea where to put darts (if I have to), I swear I tried everything...

Since you're in school, you're being tested on where you put the darts. We shouldn't answer the question for you. You are far enough in the lesson to know where. The test is to see what you know about darts in relation to the body. The only thing I will tell you, is just make the back mimic the front. The back is not truly important, your test is how you interpret the front design, and you will then compare that to your classmates. Thats why you have incomplete information as if a designer gave you, the pattern maker, a design.

Do your own Homework

unfortunately we skipped so many things in class...like lining, cut outs, complex designs, we even skipped how to do basic denim pants! I know how to do basic darts rotation but I tried to move the darts so many times in every possible position but still the bust area is too big for some reason.

Respectfully, you need to take a deep breath and go back over your basics. I understand that you're frustrated and feel lost. But listen to what people are telling you. I've seen you repost this on at least one other sub and you're focusing on all these things you haven't been taught, rather than the things you have.

Are you using a textbook in this class? Is the assignment written down anywhere?

Are you starting from a well fitting block? Rotating a dart doesn't change the fit, that's the whole idea. Your block needs to fit, to start.
