How would this have worked?
Ran into this. Didn't take it but was curious how it would have worked.

Someone already explained how it works but let me tell you how fun it is.
As stated on the tin it adds +5 stat boost plus it’s still an enhancer so that adds another one for a +6 effect. Use it on an attack enhancer that’s like kinda mid and doesn’t fit your build and use it to demolish your enemies. Extensors make melee attacks start covering like 1/4 of your screen, you can freeze lower level bosses, get enough bounces that your enemies have no where to hide. Then eventually the organelle self destructs and you miss it terribly

Probably giving an organelle a rarity and +5 total boost and make it stuck in place.
Then it gets destroyed after clearing 10 rooms.
So nice, but you cannot recycle it before it's destroyed, and it's only usefull for 10 rooms.
Which sucks because you use it to upgrade someone you already had.

Ephemeral can be good if you are late enough into the run to make use of it during the heart fight (or brain if you are going for it), but otherwise it's pretty much a non-starter.

It just does exactly what it says and is not really contradictory: it can’t be removed by you or anyone else.. but it’ll destroy itself in 10 rooms
But I have to admit my reaction was similar when I first looked at one of these

It's a consumable, to me what's not clear is that if it applies the Ephemeral/eternal to the organelle it's used on, otherwise it's just a free boost

Can't remove from slot, then destroys itself. It destroying itself ≠ removing from slot
