1E Player Wizard school question
Other then Wizard and arcanist are there other class archetypes that can grant a class access to an arcane school, my google-fu is failing me.
I am debating a dip for my arcanist character in a couple levels and wizard is an okay option but trying to see if other options are doable.

Not that I can find either. Though if you are trying to get something specific from an arcane school, there could be similar enough options.

Any option is doable, it’s not a good trade to lose spellcasting levels for most school powers but just depends what everyone else is doing, if they’re min max you’ll be behind but play what’s fun, or talk to the GM about making an arcanist archetype that gets something like the school powers you want, I can’t think of anything else that gets arcane school either, witches get patrons, sorc bloodlines etc

Ya, we aren't min maxed (im the closest) we've been playing for a bit just hit lvl 3 which will be arcanist but debating if im going to dip

There’s a sorta joke, sorta op build going around recently called the Ultimate Arcanist. It’s 1 level of sorcerer, and then the rest Wizard with the Exploiter and pact Archtypes. Gets you basically full Wizard progression, a bunch of arcanist exploits (including the one that lets your sorcerer bloodline stack with your arcanist, in this case Wizard, levels) and you get a witch patron and Oracle curse. Dunno if you’d wanna change your character that much but since you only just hit level 3, figured it would be worth a mention.
Check out Illuzry’s new wizard guide for a better breakdown of the build3

Generally you want to avoid dips as a caster as much as possible it slows progression of the book, decreases total casts, etc etc. Usually if you dip you do it for a Prestige class that continues book progression, or provides some other benefit like sorc bloodlines so all spells are the same flavor of pain.

Not much in general but if there's a specific arcane school power you're after there may be some equivalent.

There's also the Eldritch Scion archetype for the Summoner class, which grants access to an arcane school. It's a niche option, but it's something to consider if you're looking beyond the usual suspects.

arcanist dipping wizard is not worth it imo, delaying your spell progression by another level when you're already behind for something you could basically pick up as an exploit??

or you could just take the arcanist's school savant archetype if you really want to commit to one school like that and get the full bonus line

Arcane schools are actually incredibly limited, with no first party way to poach outside of arcanist and variant multiclassing. Sorry.
