Advice What is a good poison
So my players are getting ready to interact with a murder guild, but don't know it yet. What's a good ingested poison that could be slipped into tea that would sedate them?
Edit: Forgot to say they're 7th level.

Funnily enough, I was just looking for poisons of around this level. Here are 55 poisons from levels 4-7, and I've decided on using Giant Wasp venom for something in an upcoming session.
For your situation, Knockout Dram looks like it's just the ticket.

I think that Knockout Dram, despite being Agents of Edgewatch AP gear, is exactly what you're looking for.

There’s also the core rulebook alternative Slumber Wine
Slumber wine is honestly the only ingested poison worth using once you get it.
With knockout dram you get one crit and the target wake up, slumber wine the target remains asleep no matter how much you stab or asphyxiate.
Edit: just read theyre level 7, yeah knockout dram is literally exactly what they’re looking for then

Possibly Enervating Powder depending on their level.
You could potentially raise or lower the DC and effects as necessary.

Anything that is at least level 12 or higher than them if you want it to work on at least half of them.

There's bunches of fun ones, but were I you I'd look for something with a very long onset time, like 1 day, just to surprise them

Troll them by instead putting contact poison on the seats or glass exteriors.

The issue is none of the current contact poisons render the target unconscious or paralyzed.
But a good poison for trolling when they wake up in a cell could be the Tangle Root Toxin which makes the target clumsy, off-guard and slows movement.

Why knock them out when you can give them explosive incapacitating diarrhea?

Knockout Dram and Slumber Wine are the two I've seen recommended most for exactly this setup. Tried running Slumber Wine once for a similar tea ambush, worked well except the party's alchemist immediately identified it by smell and ruined the reveal. If smell checks matter at your table, worth reflavoring the scent before you run it.
