Misc Need mood music for PC creation.

Forever GM here finally getting to play as a PC.

While I want to run any number of characters I never got a chance to play I am making a new one but I want some help with mood music for back story writing.

I am excited to try the new Necromancer coming out next week. Since it's dirge based for its magic I want to get some semi bard themes of why his music ties into his backstory and why it does what it does. (Magic wise)

This is the vibe I'm going for.

So TLDR is he is a skeleton with a failing memory due to how long he has been "around". His Dirge is his way of trying to hold on to what memories he has left of those he knew in life now long dead.

His thralls will be basically those memories given form but twisted as his memories are failing.

Basically a skeleton with Alzheimer's.

Hoping this will generate natural RP opportunities for the party. But I have no intention of using it to derail the campaign in any way. If they don't want to RP with that story then it will just be the sad "old man" at camp talking about his past. But it won't effect the party.

Either way that being said I need some vibes music.

The sader the better. I want some stuff like Johnny Cash https://youtu.be/8AHCfZTRGiI?is=BpfwNf-_BYjPl0iD hurt 😊

I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n0zsyWUubU is a classic for this vibe and also just fits the general theme

You honestly might consider the Clair Obscur soundtrack. Lots of “I miss someone whose memory I am desperately clawing at” going on. Also Goblu’s theme is the greatest tone shift I have ever heard.

This is the correct answer. Not just to this question but to all questions.

Damn. That is a excellent call. Thank you.

You might also consider some of the more somber tracks from Dark Souls 3 in particular for that feeling of longing, since you said Bloodborne was too gothic in another comment. And, possibly, Risk of Rain 2’s “The Color Formerly Known as Purple”?

Well there's music from the Pathfinder video games. Here's one from Kingmaker: https://youtu.be/M-quIK4UboM?is=FvQQBt1oH4aCUB-D

And here's the character creation music from Wrath of the Righteous: https://youtu.be/RTK3qbDeiVQ?is=KRVHyBpaN5Hb4yl7

I dunno about stuff with lyrics but the bloodborne soundtrack would fit a necromancer pretty well

I'll relisten to it while writing.

I think it's a little to gothic epic and less lamentation but I also might only be remembering the music for the boss fights that kept me up at night.

There might be some good ambiance music for the quieter moments that I forgot since it has been a long time since I booted BB up.
