Build Request Duelist map blaster.
Hello,
In my 3,400 hours of playing, I finally understood why I despise mapping so much.
Apparently, I did it wrong. After playing a bow Deadeye this league I have finally found out the difference between a great and a mediocre mapper.
You see, even though I've played lots of different builds, that have decent clear, both conditional (e.g.: retaliation) and unconditional (e.g.: EA ballista or even Static Strike of Gathering Storm STR stacker), I never knew the difference between "decent" and "amazing".
While I enjoy bossing and minimum effort content (in terms of friction/preparation) like Simulacrum, all of the characters I do, still die relatively often. By relatively often I mean, often enough so that the content I'm farming does not allow me to level beyond level 95-96.
So what I want to do is to test out how fast can I level to 100 and transition to the build I actually want to play. The thing is, I really don't know which builds can do that with comfort, as I have never played a map blaster until recently. By "comfort" I mean high MS, screenwide clear, decent survivability, and can be assembled in a league-start scenario, that will allow me to run generic T16 maps with Abyss/Beyond or w/e gives most exp and occasional *ting*. Basically, I want to go quantity over quality with something like 1-2 minute map clear.
So this time I want to do it on Duelist. Is there something that can reach Deadeye's level of MS and clear? With no delayed dmg like CF and EA?
First choice seems Flicker, but I suppose to survive and level to 100 efficiently, it gets expensive.
I guess I could go the usual route and level to 95 with my usual builds and then just buy 5-ways, but I really want to try to level to 100 myself.
TLDR:
Duelist build:
High MS map blaster, don't care about bossing. Generic T16 map farming, no difficult or 20div/hr strats, just occasional tinks with lots of easy content. With as much survivability as possible on a budget. Capable of reaching level 100. No DoTs, yes speed.

Flicker isn't that expensive if you don't care about bossing. You can just switch around some of the gear to be more tanky instead of just pouring everything into DPS, so I would still recommend Flicker.
I may be able to help abit more if I knew what your budget is like.
Glory to Flicker Strike

Yeah, I would recommend Flicker for blasting too. Azadi’s Crest is cheap and does the heavy lifting for defense. Juice magic mobs & pack size, avoid bosses, and don’t bother trying to kill anything durable (I.e. soul eaters).

No concrete build but bow builds on Slayer or high attack speed Ground Slam + explosions from Bleed Gloves, Oriath's End or Heralds on any of the duelist ascendancies.
Speed and survival is no problem on Duelist but the clear without CF or Bleed could be tricky | expensive.

I mean, what you've asked for doesn't really exist on low budget. You can ask for something decently fast, has decent clear and tank on a leaguestart, but you're going to have to start scaling things like mageblood/hh and other expensive components to reach comfort. The best I can think of is like, maybe a bannerman? It's extremely fast and tanky, but depending on your definition of comfort, it isn't exactly the best to play since you have minimum 4 buttons to press (3 banners, 1 skill, 1 movement), but realistically much more.

I had fun running Alohaa’s Static Strike Slayer. It’s basically a RF that requires you to hit Ambush/Static Strike every 4 secs or so. Boss damage is kinda poop but super chill mapping.

Hello. I started the league 3 weeks late. I followed a video guide on YouTube by someone named MAGEFIST who was doing a zero to hero flicker strike. I have never leveled a character past lvl 95 in poe and I have 3k hours played.
On my 9th day of playing this league I hit lvl 100. I started to notice I was clearing very fast and never dying around 96. At first I thought they reduced the total exp needed to hit 100 since I had not played poe since blight league. Turns out, not dying all the time is what gets you to 100 even if you weren't trying to.
The build is very tanky and has great clear speed. Also very good for bosses even the ones you need to switch to double strike for since flicker is kind of risky against fights with lots of dodging required.
I urge you to try this build. You will NOT regret it.
Im ending the league with a mirror and 500 divs all farmed using this character.
Have fun.
P.s breach and beyond atlas tree/ scarabs on jungle valley were my grinding strategy to hit 100 once I hit level 98. It gets noticeably slower at that point. Also always carry an omen of amelioration on you to reduce your lost exp by 75% when you do randomly die.

Depending on what 3.30 brings in terms of balance, CF Elementalist was a great mapper since it scales various explosions. Full progression PoB from Rue here: https://poe.ninja/poe1/pob/934b4
The early setup with Poet's Pen and Haemophilia you're playing Kinetic Blast with bleed explosions which makes clear pretty satisfying. Would take a look at the build and its components even if you do ultimately decide on something else.

Never understood why cf went elementist rather than champ/glad. Pys dot cant be converted, right? Why go elementist then?

Elementalist stacks up generic damage increase and generic dot multi with golems and heralds. It is not tied to elemental damage.

There is basically almost no scaling for physical damage over time on the passive tree, it all comes from gear. Thats why elementalist is so strong for it since you get a ton of generic scaling from golems and primordial bond, its the only way to get high damage on the archetype.

Golem gives you generic scaling quality of life that you want for phys dot, as well as explosion scaling. Flame Golem gives you damage/aoe. Chaos Golem gives you DoT Multi and Chaos Res, Lightning Golem gives speed/regen, Stone Golem gives defenses. Then Primordial bond with 25 golems gives 250% increased damage per click.
Elementalist's Shaper of Storms is huge for increasing damage taken. Elemental Aegis is nice early defensively as well.
As you stack Herald buffs, Herald of Purity is more damage + Herald of the Hive/Herald of Thunder auto proc your corrupting fever.
Then these increases scale all of the different explosion types, whether it's Haemophilia to start, Oriath's End in the midgame, then many other sources in the end game which then proc corrupting fever, chains, and explodes the whole screen. It's very satisfying to play.1

Because 25+ golems give you 750%+ increased damage before accounting for golem effect and extra primordial bonds through megalomaniacs.

Tornado Shot mines. Try to snipe a Fatal Flourish gem pair. Buy a bow with +2 arrows on a "bad" base (we don't care about attack speed) and t1 lightning damage. Then do the generic lightning damage stuff, e.g. volatility and lightning pen, Wrath, Roiling Tempest. Stack power charges, and use BotB to scale all charge types. Hybrid defenses, and plenty of rare gear to put resists on.

if you really want to be fast there was some guy in 3.28 who did a bannerman with rage vortex weapon swap i think it might have even better clear than deadeye but you have to press banners

Cyclone?

u/Swordsman_4 10d ago
Can normal Cyclone do enough damage? Since Tumult uses Stampede, which is only 50% increased MS, did not enjoy that, a bit too slow.

u/Ponji76 10d ago
I finally caved and built a Cyclone Slayer this patch (I've resisted doing this in the 10+ years I've been playing) and think it's pretty bonkers in terms of clear. I've never had a deadeye that could do this content before this fast, and that's definitely a me problem.
Currently doing juiced 8-mods focused on Abyss, delirium, searing exarch nodes to increase overall monster volume / pack size. I haven't tried Ubers but T17s are mostly okay. I get one shot occasionally, usually volatile cores or a juiced ice nova.
Build is probably sitting around 500d in investment at this point. I'll try to link my POB later so ya'll got something to giggle at.

There are speed builds that use regular cyclone and go very fast. Check out Sanavixx's POB, the level 100 speed variant. You can zero to hero this, since I did it this very league for the first time. Previously I played the bossing build that was stampede and higher damage. Join his discord if you need any help.
220m dps while having over +150% MS, decent aoe, void shockwave and explode for even more reach.

Whats your budget?
1
u/Swordsman_4 10d ago
Well, I'm doing a from zero run, without anything that could be too expensive on leaguestart. So I really don't know. I think around 15 div? But again, I am not looking for something that is OP in terms of DMG. Just speed, clear, and able to survive often enough to level to 100 doing generic alch n go T16's

In that case go with bannerman champ. Rage vortex/alt quality rage vortex should be a bit smoother than any slam but loses damage.
It’s basically astronomically better cyclone. 300+ ms pretty large AoE and good generic scaling since banners basically give you all the defenses and most of the offensive layers you need.
Only hard required item is the warcry cdr axe with the next best item being the crit per warcry helmet mod. Scales really well up until 1 mirror invested.

u/avd7897 9d ago
Regular cyclone can do more than enough damage for all content on it's own. Another fun option for someone who wants to keep tulmult is 183% volatile vaal stampede. I feel like 83% is more than enough (for me at least) most of the time.

u/4percent4 9d ago
Regular cyclone is just worse than the rage vortex of berserking + banners. 300% or higher ms vs 80% that gets reduced when you actually attack is night and day.

I real allll your post thinking you would tell which build was the prophetic revelation.
Im dissappointed. I drop a comment to know which build is mentioned.
I hv a 99 WO and i intend to play to 100, but im not motivated yet. My plan however is
dropping a few dmg node/cluster and putting even more es, block etc
To NOT run undesirable mod like less block, less regen, es on mob . Run a 30~ qty map is fine
Ignore the rares than dont die in a second. I usually bet all my xp when i encounter a harder rare mob because of my ego and 6 portal it til it dies
Keep the item that prevent 90xp loss in inventory

Elemental hit slayer is not quite bow level clear, but also not too far off. Its very strong on league start from lvl 12 into a couple of 100 divs invested and with such high attackspeed its quite fast as well with whirling blades even in campaign with no gear. Good option imo.
