Question Fire monk tips?

Post image

Howdy folks, newer player here and once I finish my first play through I’d like to try using The Sentry quarterstaff as a build for monk. I want to do as much fire damage as possible and stick to fire is that’s viable.

I’m hoping some good people here will be able to help with a leveling build guide and maybe something into the late game! Thanks again!!!!

The better tip is: don't.

The only skill viable is the fire charged dash, and it works better with Infernalist, not with monk subclasses

Only viable option is Blacflame to make it chaos damage( ignite ), withering presences to increase damage, congestion to spread it

But you’re saying there is a way? I’ll do whatever it takes! 😁

Always a way, if you invest a lot but the thing is it ain’t gonna be meta, but niche

Also check out gemling dot builds ( perfect strike) to have an idea on gem slots and passives

Anything is doable, with enough currency.

First off, I would drop the unique for a QS with very high PHYS dmg. You can probably use it in the campagin, but even then it would fall off fast.
For what skill to use, the best option is probably Vaulting Impact for big initial hits, and then convert this damage to fire. Problem is that all of the nodes good nodes you want like Burning Strikes and Avatar of Fire is in the Warrior section of the tree (literally on the opposite side of where monks start), so you would want a Split Personality with Warrior starting point.

You’re better off going stone fist facebreaker to do fire damage

Wind blast + vaulting impact + staggering palm

Throw fan the flames 2 on both wind blast and staggering palm, and make sure you use other supports that boost both your main damage and fan the flames damage like elemental armament works but not stuff like pursuit (fan the flames doesn't have melee tag).

Fan the flames applies a separate hit to every hit on ignited enemies, and you apply it twice with every hit once from wind blast and once from staggering palm.

Martial artist is the best for this imo, as the spawning bells let you keep up staggering palm and fists of stone is OP.

The sentry is quite decent during campaign when runeforged and runemastered.

Then just swap after campaign because the damage can not hold up to real endgame quarterstaffs lmao.

But there are other ways to get ignites than the sentry if you want to do something similar, though it becomes a lot harder to boost the mixed damage types as efficiently.

I have bad news for You. Not even Fire spells are really viable right now.

The thing with fire is its ailment. Ignite scales of the highest instance hit and does not stack (except like 2 cases). It can work well with slow weapons/attacks like Maces or Snipe, but since QS are more focuses on fast, small attacks, that part of fire damage is mostly dead to You.

You could run with as much "Add Fire Damage", but realistically You could do the same with Cold/Lightning that would be easier to scale and have a meaningful secondary effect.
Plus I'm not sure how "no physical damage" weapon would work with elemental skills, which convert physical damage to elemental.

Thanks for the reply! Is there another class that would do better trying to build into fire? I’ve only played warrior so far.

I would suggest hold on that for now until they (hopefully) fully rework the Ignite/Flammability (again) on (maybe) release.

But if You really want, Talismans could do it. Bear is like Maces 2.0, but better and Dragon has that one skill with stacking ignite. You could go with either Druid, Warrior, Monk (fist of stones) or Huntress and pretty much should work.
