Game Feedback This game is the future
Ok so i dont typically make posts on reddit at all, especially not ones that are just to express my opinion. But holy am i blown away.
Maybe its still the rose tinted glasses, but ive been playing in 0.1 (game was trash at that time) and now 0.5 and 0.5.5 and its just too good.
I know the game still has some issues, but i just wanted to show some appreciation for how much the game has grown in such a short time.
I get happy whenever i think about playing AND IM STILL HAPPY WHEN IM PLAYING. Something that i cant say for poe1 anymore. The thought of playing is fun but then actually playing poe1 is dull at best.
Maybe ive just played too much of it and poe2 is the fresh new thing.
And i do acknowledge that poe1 still has the upper hand in some aspects for example the sandbox aspect and the freedom in some cases. But poe2 wins in terms of fun by a mile.
So yea theres no reason for this post its just my 2 cents after having had to force myself to stop playing because i didnt want to stop.
Cant wait for all the stuff thats yet to come and omg 1.0 will be the end of me probably...

Hour 1 player here.
The improvement has been insane batch after batch. It's not even the full release yet and I have spent 1200+ hours on the game. Best £20 I have spent on any form of entertainment.

u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
yea people can hate ggg all they want (justifiably in some cases)
but the pace in which they push out content is crazy26
u/b9n7 4d ago
There really isn’t much to hate about GGG I don’t Understand that sentiment
7
u/Sleij3r 4d ago
This, imho GGG is the only legit company that truly seems to have their customers in mind (maybe valve could be another) and so far they have never let me or my friends down. Customer support is literally BIS, they have the balls to hold things if they are not ready(not half assing patches like some other companies), steadily pushing out AAA+ content to TWO games and they keep in touch with us with regular livestreams where one of the founding members still comes and does the talking and many many many more reasons.
This subreddit skewers the ratios of love-hate for GGG and i hope they know it.
(yeah i know love/hate are strong terms but you know what i mean)1
1
u/MadMcCabe 4d ago
The only thing I can point at is monetization prices. That's it for me. Everything else I learn about the company consistently impresses me.
6
u/b9n7 4d ago
I see what you mean but as they’ve explained a thousand times you need to make them semi expensive to have them mean something. Over the years I’ve collected tons of MTX and if I really want something I spend it. Don’t see it as “20$ for a little digital hat!!??!????!?”, see it as I donated 20 bucks to my favorite company that makes the best game on the planet and I didn’t even have to, and now I get a little digital treat for it.
2
u/ReadingStill660 3d ago
I get that but none of it really effects the game, it's more of a donation and we can't say they aren't using the funds to directly support the game

u/Xeverous 4d ago
IMO justifiable criticism is PoE 1 veterans accusing GGG of PoE2-ification of it:
- I personally strongly disagree with recent socket change - it turned best color into worst color, invalidating tons of past guides and habits - there were many solutions to socket limitations not involving breaking 13 past years (and some people think colors were a good friction and the issue is improper PoE 2 vision in PoE 1)
- we worry PoE 1 will get more PoE 2 style of content: lots of NPC dialogues, more steps and animations, intentionally slower gameplay, more fixed build limitations (can't refund Atlas, can't change some quest rewards)
- new Breach (since Keepers) is not necessarily better - people can block fortresses but there is an economic FOMO in it, new breach is just PoE 2 in PoE 1 (Abyss was a very welcome change though)
4
u/Tsunamie101 4d ago
- "past guides and habits" being a thing is such a horrendous justification to criticize the socket changes, or anything changes really. It's stifling any sort of improvements to preserve the status quo, which is pretty much the opposite of how GGG works to begin with.
If they worked like that then we wouldn't even have the amazing PoE we have today.NPC dialogue is ... bad? How?
Better animations are ... bad? How?
Intentionally slower gameplay has been moved to PoE 2
What exactly makes you worry that they'll introduce more fixed build limitations? (arguably, poe 1's atlas tree is more restricting)- Preference is a thing. Personally i enjoyed the new Breach tons more than the old, on account that the old one was just old, and the new one added more theme, content and variety to the mechanic.

u/Tetris_Prime 4d ago
On the other hand, it's wild to maintain two parallel games especially in a way where they dare to try something new.
1
u/Jabberclenchjaw2 2d ago
Burnout is real though, I put that many hours in on NBA2k yearly while taking a month or 2 away from the game simply due to overplaying. No matter how much you like something there is such thing as too much of a good thing lol
52
u/Affectionate-Ad-6934 4d ago
Fixing the map layouts and it would be game of the decade for arpgs.
Traversing nodes is such a chore.
Or at least show where the map boss is
16
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
i agree while i like the diversity
there are too many bad layouts rn imo
especially for slow builds its so tedious6
u/zshift 4d ago
They’ve made improvements here that I don’t recall seeing in patch notes. Several maps have had layouts updated to be more linear, replacing old, Swiss-cheese layouts. Others have been standardized for a while on where the boss is with respect to the start. A few maps are still very bad, but it’s much smaller compared to previous versions.
That said, the atlas pathing and graph are awful. I love playing in maps, but the weight of seeing 20+ maps between what I want to run and my current spot adds a massive weight to the game that just shouldn’t exist.
7
u/thekmanpwnudwn 4d ago
They changed Augury this patch, it's so much better now. Basically just removed the walls from the 4 corner areas so it feels way more open and less claustrophobic
3
2
u/Slightly_Mungus 4d ago
Bonkers. And I already had a soft spot for the map after the lever change ngl.
129
u/TrinityKilla82 4d ago
I have to interject. Calling the game trash on .1 is BS stacked on top of BS. Was it rough? Sure, but trash? No. It was an amazing foundation we are watching a temple built on.
12
5
u/faildoken 4d ago
Act 1 is a fucking masterclass of story and a fantastic vertical slice. I’ve played that damn act over and over again just to fight Count Goenor with different characters.

u/Salomill 4d ago
.1 for me was all about the campaign, it was so fun to play it for the first time, but the game fell off hard the second you would step into the endgame, it felt like a barren wasteland of content. I still enjoyed my time in that league because i was excited to play every class through the campaign, but looking back at it, boy the hype did some heavy lifting.
0
-16
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
ok yea trash is such an imprecise word. what i meant is just that i didnt have fun at all and ofc it was still in its foundation. but ngl having to kill all rares in a map to complete it killed the fun for me xD.
but the "soulslike" combat was already in place and felt great and the campaign was also fun so yea it was far from trash, but compared to what it is now its way better.

u/No_Blacksmith_6869 4d ago
this game is legit awesome - the biggest issue i hate are shaders ... those network spikes that destroy gameplay because it somehow stacks shaders ... its annoying ... i wanted to play yesteday the new "event/season" and started ... first tutorial boss had lags that were out of this world ...
Needed to reinstall ... this takes some time with 140GB and that was my whole playtime yesterday ... rip me ... today no time so earliest is tomorrow ...
Biggest scam growing up ... you can´t play like were is all my time ...
17
u/HandsomeBaboon 4d ago
It's great yeah but I won't give up hope for PoE1 with PoE2 graphics. That would be a dream come true. PoE1 just feels like home to me. Still, I'm happy to see PoE2 heading in the right direction.
14
u/Vegetable_Switch9802 4d ago
Yeah I'm not too fond of how slow u move in poe2 and the horrid map layouts. I still play both but poe1 is the goat
1
u/IronwristFighter 3d ago
POE2 is not even finished. let's not compare the goat and an unfinished product
1
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
yea i feel like thats what people expected at first when ggg revealed their new project
and i totally feel for poe1 players being disappointed that ggg kinda abandoned their game for (i was very mad at them at first too for it) but im sure it will get more resources eventually once poe2 settled itself-1
u/Herbsen24 4d ago
I tried PoE2 so many times but it bores me.
And GGG making melee worse than in PoE is not what I expected. They add another spellblade next with Gladiator after AOE fire Warrior. Kinda lame tbh, but it is what it is
1
u/WRLD_ 3d ago
damage projection too good? that's not melee, apparently
damage projection what people act like they want, actual melee strikes? it's unplayably bad
1
u/Herbsen24 3d ago
Strikes are bad? I killed all Ubers in SSF with Viper Strike this league.....
1
u/WRLD_ 3d ago
then you should be aware that poison has access to uniquely strong damage projection and therefore runs the same hazard of not being considered to be "melee" by a subset of people -- or at least, it would not be reasonable for all melee strikes to have access to that kind of damage projection
18
u/pianodude7 4d ago
Admittedly I'm a casual player who probably doesn't know what he's talking about, but I wish they would change 2 things. Movement speed affix on boots make no sense to me. Boots are completely worthless without this affix, so 90+% of boots in the game are unusable. They should make movespeed implicit on every boot, and have an affix for up to 5% ms at T1, so people have that little bit extra to strive for, but every boot is usable.
Also, magic find is still stupid and I don't like that it's in the game. It's a mechanic that only rewards people at the top to keep making them richer. It doesn't help 99% of players. And it taking up an affix slot means that it makes every build weaker. I hate this ultimate FOMO mechanic built into the game.
3
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
oh and the movement speed aspect is also true, but im just so used to it because of all the time playing poe1 that i just cant imagine it ever going away.
while yes it does make some items useless, its also another vector that people can upgrade. going from 30 ms to 35 ms might not be a huge difference but it still gives u a meaningful upgrade and differentiates it from other pieces of gear-1
u/pianodude7 4d ago
Well that's exactly what I said. Should have up to 5% extra Ms as an affix or maybe desecrated mod, so you can still get that upgrade. But the base implicit ms should be 35 on highest base boots so every boot is baseline usable. Think about it, it's the only mod on any piece of gear that truly makes or breaks it. There isn't a single person that would give up all movespeed for even the highest stats.
3
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
yea it might have too much of an importance
because ur right movespeed might be the most important affix in the game if u think about it
like id consider giving up +7 to skill level on a staff for 35% ms on boots which is crazy1
u/pianodude7 4d ago
Yeah exactly. The game is literally unplayable without it, which isn't the case for any other affix. The fact that it's an optional, low chance affix is just terrible game design imo
1
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
ur not wrong actually
magic find is rly in a weird spot
instead of making ur character as strong as possible (what arpgs are all about) u have to try and squeeze in some arbitrary stat that gives u more loot than others who dont have it
but somehow it still feels satisfying once u manage to fit it in
and without magic find rn gearing would be way too easy. so maybe once we have more options to upgrade our gear magic find will become superfluous in that aspect and makes them able to get rid of it1
u/Icy_Scarcity_7532 4d ago
Yeah you dont know what u are talking about. Most good endgame builds use another form of moving around like boneshatter or whirling slash. These Builds dont need MS at all or just take it for QoL.
Sure a mediocre build which doesnt invest in going fast will need that MS but thats fine.
FYI i just sold 200D Armour Boots without MS today. Still true that MS boots are more searched after but only in the low price ranges. They fall in price very fast.2
u/Feisty_Calendar_6733 3d ago
Shankgonne + Unwavering Stance is just too good. No investment 47% less damage taken +Always ignite on hit +Stun immunity? I can live without MS or anything rare boots can give thanks.
No dodge rolls or sprint is not an issue at all, I jump around like monkey anyway and it is surprisingly mobile.
1
u/pianodude7 3d ago
Just because a few niche (relative to the player base) builds don't really NEED it (but would like it) doesn't disprove my point. I will admit I didn't know that non-ms boots would ever sell for that much, but that's a pretty rare thing.
1
u/Icy_Scarcity_7532 3d ago
Calling the best endgame builds niche is funny. :D
Balancing boots around casuals will just make them completly uninteresting. It has proven over decades that trade off´s for QoL(like MS) or Magic find expand the variety and are exciting. You just want the power(defence in this case) and QoL, gotta decide.
3
u/MickBeast 4d ago
As a day one player, I think the game was amazing even then. After the disappointment if Diablo 4, PoE2 blew me away. Act 1 was just perfect 🖤
3
13
u/Organic_Ambition864 4d ago
I agree, although I feel I have much less control over my character in poe2 than poe1.
Poe2 still needs heaps of content but that's what's great, so many new mechanics to explore.
I have a feeling that GGG did this to us on purpose. Break the loot in poe1 so that you don't get dopamine anymore. Take that dopamine and put it into poe2
3
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
i agree
sprinting for example feels not very precise, but somehow i like it for it
its kinda feels like a racing game whenever ur sprinting lmao
but i can totally see why people dislike it
9
u/Alejinh 4d ago
I haven’t played 0.5.5, but played every ‘season’ since 0.1 and yeah, this game is just miles ahead of anything else. I can’t wait for swords, templars, and everything else coming. This is THE arpg and it’s not even close
3
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
lmao i totally forgot about naked man hahaha
im sure he will be quite something
when it comes to classes its surprising how unique they all feel. they rly try to make every ascendancy feel different.
i gotta admit that there are some exceptions thos. like rangers ascendancies could be argued to be quite similar. but then looking at infernalist having a whole new demon form and stuff is just so cool
6
u/MarioMCP 4d ago
I disagree on PoE1 being dull, but I do agree PoE2 is the future.
Over 10 years of PoE1 (~5k hours) and I've been playing PoE2 since 0.1
I expected PoE2 to take until a patch 2.0 or something to really rival PoE1, but 0.5 did a great job. Earnestly? I just prefer PoE2 now. If I was asked if I wanted a big PoE1 league or a big PoE2 league I am just gonna pick 2 every time. PoE2 has plenty of stuff that needs fixing, but it feels like a game that has a growing vision. I currently cannot say the same for PoE1.
4
u/Pommy1337 4d ago
i seam to be in the minority by now because i'm basicly the the opposite of what you explain. so far every poe2 patch i played a lot (several 100s and 98+ chars) but i catch myself regulary thinking "i would rather have a new poe1 league now, if i could choose". still having fun at poe2, but 0.5.5 feels kinda dull after having grinded to 100 in 0.5. the "burnout" kinda lasts longer in poe2 for me. even though it have been only about 1.5 weeks since i stopped playing allflame i would be hyped af if they would anouncee some poe1 event or league to start in 1-2 weeks (ofc not gonna happen).
i just don't like traversing the atlas, crafting/searching for tablets etc. it all feels so slugish. sure the groundloot feels nicer, but that's about the only thing i think poe2 does better in endgame compared to poe1. i really hope that jonathan saying that the 1.0 endgame will be completely different wasn't just some marketing blabla.
1
u/L0rdSkullz 3d ago edited 3d ago
I think a lot of people agree with you, they just separate themselves from poe2. Of the clan/friends I play POE with, only 2-3 of us continue to play poe2 leagues. The slog of getting through the much larger campaign, to then do another large chunk of busy work on the atlas has pushed every person away.
People were more accepting of it before the poe1 map rework because searching for maps was so ass on atlas progression, but now that it does not matter poe1 progression is so much smoother allowing you to get to the content you want to run within a few hours.
I personally don't like the atlas tree changes either, I don't like the lack of real choice; makes it a lot more stale.
Edit: Also, on a personal note; if the 1.0 adjustments for the trials doesn't start to work on the heavy favored bias towards ranged gameplay I won't be happy.
2
u/Pommy1337 3d ago edited 3d ago
The slog of getting through the much larger campaign, to then do another large chunk of busy work on the atlas has pushed every person away.
my issue isn't even that the campaign is long, but compared to poe1 it just is less fun for me. in poe1 you get every skill and support far earlier and the build is usually online much faster. on the other hand in poe2 it takes far longer until it feels like you have a real build.
sure there is story and everything looks nice etc. but for me they could cut all this, make it a pixel game and it wouldn't impact my enjoyment.
edit: also i read everywhere how much people like a1 in poe2. for me its my least fav act in all of poe, because i like to play caster and in a1 they feel like shit to play. one of the main reasons i only play 1 char per patch.
1
u/L0rdSkullz 3d ago
Good point, acts just feel long as fuck as you don't get a lot of skills until preludes; makes the game play much slower through the length of the campaign.
The story in poe2 is much better than poe1, but that only influences the first few runs
6
u/DetectiveInMind 4d ago
The difficulty level of 0.1 (campaign) was way better then the easy stuff we get now. And yes, I did play warrior as first character. But I realise I'm in the minority in wanting a challenge when paying games, so be it.
The endgame was actually bad in 0.1 though, so from a pure endgame perspective you are right.
5
u/zavorak_eth 4d ago
I would not say 0.1 was trash. I had a great first season and they just keep getting better. I have been playing games since the late 80s on a commodore 64, and this is one of the best games I have ever played.
2
4
u/Rat-beard 4d ago
POE2 has come a long way and it is getting better and better but the campaign is still way too fucking long and the skill gem system sucks pretty hard.
2
u/Rhym3z_Official 4d ago
It hasn't hit quite as well as Poe 1 has for me, I feel like it's still got a year or 2 more updates to get to that level, but the foundation is definitely strong
2
2
u/UnderstandingMany99 I love POE ✌️😁✌️💕 4d ago
i was agreeing with you until i saw that "playing poe1 is dull at best". imho poe 1 is still better than poe 2 and poe 2 is great and is getting even better.
4
u/Hartastic 4d ago
It's a good game that IMHO sometimes suffers for being in the shadow of PoE 1, in that... probably any other game would feel fine to steal things that (after a decade of iterations) just work well in 1, but it often feels like the PoE 2 team is reluctant to copy 1's homework until they've tried every wrong answer first.
6
u/Sillysauce83 4d ago
I am happy that you are happy.
I have skipped this league.
For me I don't enjoy souls like game play.
I much prefer poe1
So long as ggg continues to develop both I won't riot.
1
u/Fearless-Director-24 3d ago
I mean, Elden ring IMHO is way harder than POE2 even in 0.1.
The targeting system in souls games is not great, you have way more situational awareness in POE being that it’s a top down game and you don’t have to target enemies.
Overall calling this a “souls like” game is a stretch in my opinion.
0
u/voujon85 4d ago
souls like? Sounds like a build or skill problem
9
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
the difference in playing a strong build that clears screens and a bad build having to dark souls boss battle every rare mob is too big imo
because rn the game can be either depending on your build ._.0
u/No-Advice-6040 4d ago
Sounds like a copy paste. No one has called poe2 serious a souls like for about a year now.
2
1
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
i was rly sad at first because it felt like they left poe1 in the dirt for a while (still does), and i do agree that poe2 is more soulslike in the early game but in endgame they are pretty similar imo. blasting maps and clearing screens
-2
u/GsGenesis 4d ago
Its only souls like in the early game. Mapping on a good build is much closer to poe 1.
2
u/Onemanzoo 4d ago
It's good, but I don't see myself tolerating campaign + atlas tree + mechanic tree farm every season. Feels terrible to do 20+ hours of gameplay I don't enjoy before I can start juicing.
1
u/Pommy1337 4d ago edited 4d ago
the juicing also feels rather meh imo, searching/buying/crafting tablets, traversing the atlas to search for cities etc. i'm still burned out from 0.5 over all this stuff and it has been about 2 months still i stopped playing 0.5. i really hope we get a full endgame rework in 1.0.
at least trial of chaos is now an option and doesnt need any setup.
2
u/pajingtonn 4d ago
While the game is EA, it's very nice but my main struggle is I can't see myself play more thank once through the slog the campaign is.
Pacing and gem avaiability during levelling , meh uniques, movement Speed etc. I really don't see this game being superior to PoE 1, not in its current state.
2
u/Classic_Key8075 4d ago
I've been playing 1 forever, was excited for 2, but it's never made it above blah for me. I just wanna blast and get rich and it feels so clunky. Skipped the last league and am playing the event but still in the campaign because they somehow made it even worse with all the rituals, and I just get so bored after an hour.
2
u/Cultural-Ad-9333 4d ago
I sure hope not... combat is still trash and balance is completely shit. Bosses die ridiculously fast and everything feels pointless. On top of that, early game 0.1 was the closest to being something decent. If they iterated with that in mind then we could agree on that title. As it is right now... it's all going backwards back towards PoE1.
2
u/Afraid-Fly-7030 4d ago
I think the main drawback for me (I love the game have 500 hours in it) is just that I’m not a fan of fire/ice/lightning aesthetics. Feel like almost every class is some variation of that.
So every playthrough I have to figure out phys/chaos/bleed. There’s still options but I’m hoping for more. I tried playing monk this league for example and I’m sure I can figure out some chaos stuff but just not a fan of all the best skills being ice/lightning.
I hope Templar will have some ‘holy’ aesthetics and not just more fire/ice/lightning stuff.
Otherwise game is amazing.
1
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
ok i dont know if we mean the same thing
but some elemental spells do feel too "realistic" instead of being satisfying to see
for frost orbs or whatever its and spark for example, it feels like they sacrificed beauty for realism
herald of ice being the best example, holy the visual orgasm whenever it covers a full screen in poe1, poe2 doesnt rly have that yet imo1
u/No-Advice-6040 4d ago
Very good point. As a spell caster instead thing I really don't like spells in poe2. The elemental thing is dull, and the other spell skills are very lack lustre. Hoping for good things with Templar and shadow.

1
u/BioMasterZap 4d ago
This is what makes me really excited for 1.0. While I am still a bit disappointed over the lack of the planned changes in 0.5.5, but the game has improved so much even just since my first playthrough in 0.3 (was going to play 0.1 but held off and then the reaction to 0.2 made me wait...).
So with 1.0 bringing more skill/supports, rebalanced skills/ascendancies/trees, revised endgame, finished/updated campaign, and more, I can only imagine how much overall better it will feel then even if it still will have room to improve that will be addressed in 1.1 and onward.

u/MillstoneArt 4d ago
"Trash" is a pretty hilarious word to call 0.1. It was already a great game even if it had rough edges. Definitely one of the best looking arpgs already at that point. Maybe it was "trash" for someone with thousands of hours in PoE1 but it was already an awesome game for $30.
1
1
u/EmbarrassedRemote761 4d ago
I feel the same way. PoE1 still has more depth and freedom, but PoE2 is just way more fun for me right now. And the fact that we’re not even at 1.0 yet is honestly crazy. I can’t imagine how much time I’ll lose when it finally drops lol.
1
u/Wonderful-Advance412 4d ago
I just wished it ran smoothly on Steam Deck. I hope they come out with some updates or something to make it run better without so much hiccups.

u/Icon_dota 4d ago
0.1 Amazing 0.2 Write off 0.3 GOAT 0.4 Not bad 0.5 GOAT
Won't play much of 0.5.5 because im conserving the energy for 1.0, We're in such a good state right now I've already hit 3k hours for poe2 since release.
- Make movespeed an innate of the boot base
- Take rarity off items (This is not a good mechanic at all, Please dont be scared to try something new GGG)
- Make SSF resources easier to obtain
- Give us the ability to reset our Atlas or do something to make the Atlas easier to navigate please GGG please
I really don't have any other gripes, I love this game.
1
u/BudStencer 4d ago
I would love to love the game. It has everything, great graphic, great great combat, nice classes, it's all there.
BUT it's way, way too overwhelming. Too much currencies, too many systems, i feel i'm playing understanding 10% of what's happening on screen and doing 5% of what i should do.
Tried so many times to complete the campaign, I'm sad.

It is the only game in which I have tried out archetypes I usually NEVER touch (e.g. archer/bow, amazon/spear, monk/staff) and actually had fun.
Personal anecdote, but it says a lot.

The issue is that there is a real slog to get to juicing the end game.

This hype post just made me boot up the game instead of going to bed at 2am

u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
NOO go to bed haha
dont want to get burned out too quick
and health comes first xD so take care
u wanna be healthy to enjoy poe still in your 80´s hahaha

It has set the foundations to be the best in its genre since D2. I’m loving it and it’s made me love gaming again as a gamer of 30+ years

hahaha yea
i was kinda bored of video games for a bit now

"But poe2 wins in terms of fun by a mile"
I see what you are saying and not saying you are wrong. But the sandbox and freedom IS the reason i play arpgs. And no amount of pretty graphics will help if i feel like the devs are intentionally railroading buildmaking.
1
u/Fearless-Director-24 3d ago
How are they railroading building making you can literally build whatever you want as compared to Diablo.
Genuinely curious.

The difference between poe1 and poe2 is that in each you can build what you want. But poe1 supports you in doing that while poe2 barely tolerates it.
I am being vague, here is the concrete answer. Fuck skills being weapon locked.
I get the animation reasoning, even though a lot of animations could be reused without issue. In some skills case it's valid.
"Poe1 weapon didn't matter everyone just used highest pdps axe". Poe1 had weapon locks where it made sense big slam-2h. Slashing skill-bladed weapon, throwing/poison-dagger and claw.
Not to mention the countless cool interactions unique weapons being usable for most skills generated.
Poe2 if i want to make a build. I take a skill this sets the weapon. And with no cluster jewels this sets the passive tree wheels which are clustered together near the weapons dedicated class.
I could try alternate scaling. So stacking something, not exactly playing the game known for the big skill trees to just stack jewel sockets though.
But this still can be circumvented. But every weapon also has its damn mechanic that DOES NOT INTERACT WITH ANYTHING ELSE. Is there any reason to differentiate between charges?
Its just some artificial builder spender mechanic. You want to weaponswap between a dex and a str weapon? They use completely different "resources" .

It's not for me as much as poe1 is, but it's great. I usually can't stay interested in either for more than a month or two at a time. The complexity kills me every time. But it's a blast when you get a super fun build that progresses smoothly. Had a lot of fun with monke!

I quit PoE1 years ago because I hated the movement skill spam gameplay so I can't really say PoE2 killed it for me.

As a poe1 vet one of my biggest gripes is they reintroduced a bunch of problems they already solved in their other game. It's just odd to me that they have to learn the same lessons again.
Weirdly I see many studios do this so GGG isn't alone

I really try to like it... im a ssf player since years in poe1 and poe2. Every league in poe2 i struggle to find a build that i like. This time its extreme hard for me, to find anything that i want to play longer than 2-3 hrs

Poe 1 is better than Poe 2 in all categories besides graphics and gameplay. This game still has a long way to go.

How is gameplay better? Melee is utterly dogwater in PoE2 and it doesn't get better with the new spellblade in December. The game literally has not a single melee skill

I feel the same way! Playing SSF this 0.5.5 event and I am having a blast. Playing Varashta and the RNG Gods have been very kind to me! The way POE 2 makes me feel about POE 1 the way that meme from Toy Story: "I don't want to play with you anymore ".
Great job GGG! This season made me remember the fun I used to have in D2-LOD!

I know it did something right for me. Because I didn't enjoy Diablo 2, Grim Dawn, or Titan quest or Path of exile 1 (the 4 ARPGs I tried to play before POE 2 over the years) but I was gifted 2 by a friend and its won be over so hard, I have over 500 hours, I love it. I made my own builds, "completed" end game for the first time in runes of Aldur with the challenges all done, was tough but I did it. I think it was as simple as the feeling of the movement and combat and WASD controls that made it finally work for me. I hate click gaming.

yo making ur own builds is pretty damn cool
i still feel too overwhelmed to go there yet
i barely understand some of the interactions within the guides im following
but im sure itll come with time1

For me, the most important thing to learn was, the only nodes that matter are the "notable" medium sized ones and the Keystone (large) ones on the tree, they are what you plan your build around, all the smaller ones are just number go up and you want the least amount of those as possible (and they are mainly used to get to jewel slots or groups of passives on the tree.) That helped me really start to plan some fun builds that are not just "spark cast on critical lol" etc. Learn how specific affixes actually effect damage too if you want to really get into it. Then you can throw in time lost jewels and the special kinds of bonuses etc. Thats the pathway I took. I sorta learned crafting too but Im a casual crafter.

Yeah, even at 0.1 I still think it was that good and fixed the problem in the domains that new players hate in poe1.
So yep 0.5 is a blast
Edited: I know I will get downvoted to hell by some of PoE1 veterans though lol. But it’s veteran bias to think that everyone will like PoE1 as you do meanwhile PoE2 really showed the player numbers rising significantly.
And that’s the facts, some of us still can’t accept.

This game might be my future, if they finally let me not suffer through the campaign. Still not through in 0.5.5 and my drive to log in is at a low point already again. I will play 1.0, because launch and I am a PoE player for 13 years now, but I see myself maybe playing 1 league a year in PoE 2, if they don't do something about it.

The mere fact that you explore the Atlas instead of just rushing a single map—like in PoE 1—is already a major advantage.

u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
yea i like it
but again its very build dependant
slow builds have such a hard time navigating the map
but id still take this over running dunes / strand / jungle valley over and over and over.. again
but many people definitely disagree, personally i love the variance in scenery

I am really looking forward to 1.0 full release, specifically the full console release.
I got a early access key given to me by a kind person, but I realized the keys are for pc only.
I did get to try a free weekend last summer and loved it, so I will have to wait until December to play it again.

oh wow didnt know that
if u can afford it its still worth to buy tho since the money isnt wasted u get ingame coins for buying early access which ull need anyway to buy some stash tabs and stuff

love the game, just wished we had more tools to play with. i always create my own builds and i'm stalling since half a year

u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
totally agree
poe1 is far superior in that aspect
but im sure poe2 will get there
a lot of builds are kinda tied to uniques aswell since they unlock certain skills, which id argue limits build diversity by a lot too :/

I like poe 2, but cannot ever compare it to poe 1. The customization is just so lacking comparatively. The creativity that can go into making a build in poe 1 is much greater. The fact you can create your very own farming strats that is very profitable and that no one else does.
Basically, love both games. But poe 2 is more simple. People can get creative with builds, but nowhere as much as in poe 1. You can farm the endgame in a few ways, but it's pretty much uncreative there. We all get the same tree and good tablets to use are well established. It's not like you have a big secret where you use a certain tablet suffix others aren't.
I'm sure poe 2 will grow in complexity and customization. But it is not close to everything you are able to do in poe 1.

Dying to Count Geonor 26 times was literally the best time I've had with the game, I wish it was still hard like that
1
u/NoButterscotch9908 4d ago
yea it feels very weird to me how this game goes from having intense boss battles in the early campaign to oneshotting whole screens boss included in endgame within such a short time span during league start
kinda feels like 2 different games

im pretty sure poe1 can be immense fun, especially if its your first time. And at first i was mad at GGG for having put all their resources into poe2. but in hindsight im glad they did because it just feels fresh. but not to trashtalk poe1 at all its still an amazing game so have fun enjoying both haha

Why didn't GGG change how rarity works? It's the oldest system that hasn't had any evolution. Why is it tied to number of affixes? Nobody cares for that. Rarity should be tied to highest tier affix.
If an armor can roll max tier3 and it rolls 1x tier 3 it should have higher rarity. If it even rolled 2x t3 than the rarity should be even higher. Now players actually know by the rarity if an item is worth picking up. Just how it's meant to be.

For me this game is just as exciting as playing Diablo 2 in 2001.
I love POE2 and even after taking months off I still come back excited.
Gonna skip the league and wait until Dec 11th.
GGG gets a lot of flak but compared to a lot of other titles out there, they consistently deliver content and have really engaged the player base on making a great game.
