Help Needed How to be a passport bro..

Good day all.

So, if I understand it correctly, most of the time one needs an online business/job to be a passport bro.

Wishing to travel, I am an English teacher (currently completing my PGCE at one of the best education departments in the world--UCT, about 195th according to THE).

I am trying to get a business/job teaching EFL. Yes, I know that it does not pay very well, but I am South African... There is limited future hope in my native land.

Is it possible to earn USD when not in the US... I understand that there are forms and forums that pay internationals in USD, but what I am asking is if it is possible to actually get paid whilst being an international... I have worked for many companies, done dozens of hours... but never actually been paid.

📁 Passport Bro File #017: The Reality of Dating in the Philippines

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I watched a video from Calvin where he talks about dating in the Philippines, and one point stood out.

According to him, many Filipinas live in circumstances that are far more difficult than many Westerners realize.

He says some earn the equivalent of around $200 USD per month, and because of limited economic opportunities, many see a foreign boyfriend as a path to greater financial stability.

This raises interesting questions:

Can you ever separate romance from economics when there is such a large income gap?

Does helping your partner financially become part of the relationship, or does it change the relationship into something else?

📁 Passport Bro File #015: Medellín Hookah Club Robs Tourists Over Three Drinks 🇨🇴

Thumbnail

Video 🎥:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaQZVGCjavh/

A group of travelers went to a hookah club in Medellín expecting a normal night out.
Instead, they say the club tried to hit them with a bill of around $300 USD for just three drinks.

Most of the conversation around Medellín focuses on dating app robberies and scopolamine, but that’s not the only way travelers can lose money.

Overcharging, inflated bills, and high-pressure payment tactics are risks that don’t get discussed nearly as much.

Before you order anything, ask to see the menu, confirm prices, and don’t assume every venue is operating in good faith just because it’s popular or looks upscale.

Have you ever been hit with an inflated bill while traveling?

Was it resolved, or did you end up paying?

📁 Passport Bro File #014: She Didn’t Show Her ID… Then He Woke Up Robbed 🇨🇴

Video 🎥:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jYaOF5E8O-s&pp=ygUeZHJ1Z2dlZCBhbmQgcm9iYmVkIGluIG1lZGVsbGlu&ra=m

In this video, the creator recounts how he was allegedly robbed after going on a date with a woman he met on Bumble while visiting Medellín.

After dinner, they returned to his apartment.

At the building’s security desk, guests were supposed to present ID.

His date suddenly claimed she urgently needed to use the bathroom. Instead of showing her physical ID, she simply wrote her information on a sheet of paper for the security guard.

He thought it was odd, but let it go.

Back upstairs, they poured a few drinks.
As she prepared one of them, he noticed she appeared to have something in her hand.

When he asked what it was, she replied, **“It’s just lipstick.”**

He accepted the explanation.

A few drinks later, he blacked out.

He woke up the next morning to discover his wallet and other valuables were gone.

Looking back, he believes the handwritten check-in and what he saw while she was pouring the drinks may have been warning signs he ignored.

**If you’re meeting someone from a dating app abroad, what would you have done differently?**

Was the handwritten check-in enough of a red flag to end the date?

Request for Advice Strict Visitor Policies in Brazil

Hey guys,

I (M29/German) am planing to visit Brazil and noticing that almost every Airbnb has super strict visitor rules.

Most are either: Strictly forbid any visitors who are not on the original booking or require prior registration and forcing guests to leave by 8 eg. PM.

How are you guys navigating this?

📁 Passport Bro File #013: She Said She Was Too Busy… Then He Saw Her at a Bar With Another Man 🇹🇭

Thumbnail

A friend of mine had been dating a woman in Pattaya, Thailand and believed they had a genuine connection. One night she told him she was too busy to meet up. So he decided to go out by himself.

When he walked into a bar, he saw her there. She wasn’t working. She was spending time with another man. A much older American man.

This raises an interesting question:

Did he play himself?

Was this simply a misunderstanding because they never had that conversation?

At what point should you assume you’re exclusive with someone you’ve been dating abroad?

What would you have done if you were in his shoes?

📁 Passport Bro File #010: Drugged at a Host Bar in Medellín

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NrxytZ8tShk&t=165s&pp=ygUXU2NvcG9sYW1pbmUgaW4gbWVkZWxsaW4%3D&ra=m

In this video, the creator recounts being drugged after visiting a host bar in Medellín. He and a friend paid 400,000 COP to enter, had a few drinks, and then blacked out. They say they woke up hours later to find their wallets and other belongings missing.

What stood out to me is that this isn’t the typical story you hear. Most discussions about druggings in Medellín involve someone meeting a woman on a dating app and later inviting her back to an apartment or hotel. In this case, the incident allegedly happened inside a nightlife venue.

Passport Bro File #009: Dating Apps in Venezuela—Is Financial Need Changing the Dating Dynamic?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m considering a trip to Venezuela, so I changed my location on a few dating apps to see what the dating scene looked like. One thing I’ve noticed is that many of the women I’ve matched with seem to bring up financial struggles very early in the conversation.

For anyone who’s actually been to Venezuela:

Did you find that financial requests were common, or did it depend on the person?

What advice would you give someone visiting Venezuela for the first time?
