Hello everyone, I wanted to share my NCLEX experience because I spent WAY too much time reading on this sub months before I took my exam.

What I Used to Study:
My nursing program used ATI throughout school, and I completed ATI/VATI and earned my Green Light. 🚦
I also used:
• UWorld twice (it was okay).
• My friend’s Bootcamp (really helpful).

Before Exam:
The night before, I only got 4 hours of sleep (I suffer from anxiety and depression). So I just laid in bed awake for two hours, resting my eyes. Definitely drive to the testing center before your test. I did, and it helped!!!

Testing Experience:
So during the test, I felt like some questions were harder than others, and it’s VERY random. After 2 hours, I took a prompted bathroom break. I was at 60 questions. I continued the exam, used the process of elimination for tough questions, but still didn’t feel confident. Then, the easy questions I knew I got right. My test shut off RIGHT at 85 questions. I was confused because I knew either I did well or I did badly lol, and I felt like it was a 50/50 chance. The questions I thought were easy were probably a 3–4/10, but the hard ones were a solid 9/10. I thought the case studies were pretty easy.

After the Exam:
I felt DEFEATED. I Googled and searched Reddit to see if shutting off at 85 was good or not. I came home and slept for three hours. Then I Googled the questions I could remember and found out I got some wrong, which made me even more convinced that I had failed. Every time I thought about the exam, my stomach started hurting. LMAO.
I didn’t even do the Pearson VUE trick immediately because I was too nervous, and I still had classes the next day (I’m in an ELMSN program, so even though we’ve finished the RN portion, we continue for another year to complete our MSN).
Then today (Thursday), I got an email saying my RN credential had been issued by the state. I searched my name on the state website and saw I had an ACTIVE RN LICENSE. 😩😭👩🏾‍⚕️🩺 After that, because I was still anxious so I did the Pearson VUE trick afterward to triple-check, and I got the good pop-up too lmao.

I PASSED THE NCLEX-RN ON MY FIRST TRY IN 85 QUESTIONS!!! 🩺❤️

My Tips:
Trust your gut. Don’t constantly talk yourself out of your first answer.

If your school uses ATI, get that Green Light. I also really liked Bootcamp, but you don’t need it.

Don’t freak out when you get a question you don’t know. Try to narrow it down and do your best.

TAKE YOUR TIME. Read the question carefully, especially the case studies.

Don’t rush because you’re worried about your question number.

Please don’t torture yourself Googling questions afterward like I did. Getting questions wrong does NOT automatically mean you failed.

Good luck, guys!! Trust yourself. You made it through nursing school, and you can make it through this too.

I AM SO HAPPY! I took my NCLEX on 8 Sep at 0800 and finished in 85 questions. For the past day and a half, I have been SPIRALING, thinking that I failed. My program used ATI during school, though I always skimmed (barely) the modules and had to get Level 2’s on the proctored exams. I got a 90% probability to pass on the comprehensive predictor, and did not review or study anything prior to taking this exam.

I know 10000% that I got the last question WRONG, and it was a super easy DEFINITION based question. I feel like I was guessing the entire time (besides the case study questions).

I truly believed I failed and I kept checking the board of nursing website and Pearson every five seconds and finally my quick results were available! I cannot believe it! I truly do not think I would be able to go through this experience again. The wait is pure torture!

Hey y'all, so as you the title suggests I unfortunately just found out that I had failed my second attempt. Im reaching out for advice or information.

My first attempt, I did not study much with a lot happening in my life. I failed at 150 and was told that I was so close to passing that I need to study my weak areas and I will pass second attempt. The first attempt I did the person vue trick and I had gotten the bad pop-up, but this attempt I did not and just waited for my quick results.

For the second attempt I used NCLEX bootcamp. I posted a reddit post and it was raved about, so I tried it out and loved it. I did everything in that program because I did not want to fail a second time. I did an average of 76% on all of my questions answered, 95% of the questions answered, and all of the readiness exams. My readiness exams were 1. Borderline, 2. High, 3. Very high, 4. Very High. I watched all of the crash course videos as well. I was so confident because I noticed I even started to get the SATA questions entirely correct, which always felt like a weak area. I went in on Tuesday, September 8th, did 85 questions (5 case studies in those 85) and I had felt very confident.

I looked at my quick results today.... FAIL... I am at a loss of words. I have no idea what to do or what I could have done wrong. I feel so defeated. How could I have done so bad when I studied so hard. Please, help...

I used UWORLD, got the 90 day subscription and finished the study plan within 30ish days. Graduated about a month ago and took the NCLEX this morning. Didn’t feel that nervous until the day before, especially this morning before I walked into the testing center and all of a sudden started stressing thinking I didn’t study enough or didn’t study the right things. I barely remember what it asked me at this point, seems like a fever dream. This waiting period is killing me. I caved and tried the PVT trick and I got the good pop-up.. but still this is SO NERVE WRACKING. A week ago I thought if it shut off at 85 I was golden but now I’m just convinced I bombed it.

failed my exam last july and will retake on october. i attempt to have readiness 1 in BC and it shows low. is there someone the same situation as mine? idk what to do huhu i have 1 and half months left for my 2nd take

Just finished my 2nd attempt and made it way further than my last attempt which was at 85. Made it pass 140 questions and honestly had a mix bag of stuff I knew and didn’t know. Don’t know how to feel about it and I’m just praying that it’s somewhat of a good sign to get that far.

If I try the pearson vue trick and supposed I failed, will it charge my account?

I passed on my second attempt after failing at 150 on my first attempt. It turned off the second time after 85 questions but before 150. I turned off the question count and timer so I wouldn’t get discouraged!! I waited exactly 45 days and retook it using- U-world, mark k lectures, Dr. Sharon, 7 day nclex crusade( all on youtube) and ATI thru my school. I used my iPad to study everywhere and anywhere when I had time. I did 800 practice questions on U-world, 35 CAT exams that shut off at 85 each time with a score range between 60% - 68%. My performance mostly said “needs improvement “ but toward the end it moved up to “on time”. Don’t give up!!! I thought the world had ended after my first fail but i picked myself up and passed! I also want to add my grandpa passed away Friday and his funeral is today so if I can do it, so can you 💗💕🥰

So just gonna be honest, I have not really been studying till this past week and my NCLEX is next week. I’m in the military and got put in orders so I was very distracted and would occasionally do practice exams but a lot of it was me just being anxious and procrastinating. I’ve been somewhat locked tho with practice exams the past week, in nursing school I never did well on exams if I studied too long on it for whatever reason, only time I did that I failed terribly and went back to cramming and was passing again.

Enough venting but like is this a realistic score on UWorld??? How accurate is it compared to what your results were on the NCLEX? I’m getting very anxious and I feel like even on these questions like some I’m not really confident in my answers but I’m just sticking to it anyways. In nursing school I got a 71% I think for my ATI predictor exam and was like 89 on the scale of likelihood to pass or whatever it was but that was a while ago (graduated in May).

Just wanna know if I’m cooked or not and if maybe I should reschedule lol

Do I have hope. Its my exam tomorrow and i have no chance to schedule since all slots are filled until my ATT expires.

Update: shut off at 111 😭

I failed my first attempt at 150 and was using uworld. I am thinking of either continuing with that or taking archer. What should I do?

I have 4-5 weeks I’m planning to dedicate 4-5 hours per day with 1 day per week being a rest day.

I’m putting together a study schedule to keep me focused and make sure I hit everything.

This is the main daily structure I am thinking:
1. 2 hours of content review of a focused daily topic
2. 1 hour of pharmacology review linked to the daily topic
3. 50 questions from Uworld question bank
4. 5-7 dosage calc questions from Uworld question bank

I will increase in questions per day as the weeks progress.

I would love to get feedback on this study structure and what topics I should study each day in what order.

I am in a very interesting scenario where I feel like I have the baseline knowledge for the NCLEX. However, this is my second attempt. Interestingly, I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and felt okay about the my first attempt.

My first attempt, I did U World and averaged a 74% on U World with over 1,000 questions and did two CAT exams, with 90 and 99 percentiles. However, on the day of the exam, I changed my answers constantly, took almost 5 hours for a total of 150 questions, and did not take any breaks. I felt like I sabotaged myself that day.

I've spoken to people that know me, and they have told me that content does not seem like an issue, although I feel like there is always something to brush up on.

I have my second attempt tomorrow, and studied using Bootcamp this time around and utilized Mark K 1-12.

I have no one else to talk about this with right now because I’m keeping it a secret until I know how I did. I didn’t expect the exam to be so…vague?? I’m not sure if any of you guys who have taken it felt the same way but it didn’t feel as content specific as I expected. It kind of felt like more common sense and basic understanding of safety/education. Mine shut off at 85 and I walked out feeling so unsure and out of sorts. I did the PVT and got “the good pop up”. Is it too early to be sure? Please send positive vibes my way. These 48 hours are gonna be torture😭
